Shay sighed and shrugged. "I wish I knew." It was a rather fast response, having everything to do with the creeping uncertainty of the circumstances. "I just thought I'd come see if I had to welcome a new neighbor, and instead I saw you. What a surprise." She felt stupid being there all of a sudden. It was almost becoming unnerving, and slightly unbearable. Why the huge change in sentiment? It felt built up from nothing, jumping around from these testy moods. Her face started to feel hot.
"Nevermind anything at all. Welcome back, okay, Alfonz?" She started to walk back, feeling her face with one hand. Why couldn't she get over any of this completely?

He looked away from Shay, not really knowing what to do with the younger woman any more. It was one thing, or it was another, and most of the time, it was the other. Alfonz felt that she had always been too close. He'd allowed her in too fast, and she was too nosy to keep things to herself. Working for the paper, he should have known she would be. "I won't be back for long..." he said as if it actually mattered. If she wanted him, she'd have to tell him so, however, in turn Alfonz was comfortable with where he was and who he had. Hogwarts had been amazing because of everything he had gone through to get there.... even if one of the things were the Head Mistress herself.
Slowly he backed into his apartment and started to shut the door. It figured that she'd be a constant reminder in his mind of something he had thought he had again.... it figured...

She heard his words loud and clear, despite her vow to shut out anything at that moment. But it was hard to. Now she knew the length of his visit. It would have to be as short as their time together. Since they met, they had a lot of time being together, but since the date, each visit afterwards shrunk and shrunk...
Shay started to feel like there was something really wrong with her. It was an insecurity held back when she wouldn't blame herself for being herself, but step by step she knew this was an uncomfortable closure-- not perfect, in fact, quite horrible. But she started to think that this was her fate, over and over. Something had to hold her back... was it herself? As in, just her personality?Through the vanity, she had gotten a few compliments on who she was, but it never entailed romantic relationships. The minute she would end her trail down the long hallway to her apartment, she was going to feel a burden of some sort. She wasn't going to realize it until then.
For those few steps, though, she still heard him, loud and clear. To which she replied with a cruel, dry, sad chuckle, "So I figured." It was time to definitely leave, she had sorrow with her name on it, waiting for her in apartment 301.
