"You go ahead," Drew answered and though he wasn't nervous about making the jump, he had a fleeting memory of smacking his head on the diving board during his first year. Hitting the rocks from this height would probably hurt more.

"Okay," Arianna grinned at the boy. She knew it was best to go first anyway. Much easier to encourage someone to go if they had already seen you go.
Skootching up against the cliff, Arianna took three giant steps and jumped. Arching forward, with her hands stretched over her head, she entered the water in what might be concidered a good dive. Not Olympic worthy, but it was good for her.
Breaking the surface moments after, the girl swam back to where she could see Drew better and smiled up at him.
"Come on in!" she hollared. "It feels great!"

It looked easy enough and when Ari had called up to him, Drew took the edge at a run, flipping midair and doing a pretty decent dive into the water.
Or it would have been had he not forgotten one thing.
He resurfaced, swearing as loud as his lungs would allow, expressing his displeasure over the stinging that the salt water had given his cut hand.

"Wooh...." Arianna's cheer was cut short by Drew's shouting. She might've laughed about it if she wasn't concerned.
Swimming over to the boy, Arianna tread water as she looked him over. Well...he certainly hadn't hit his head on anything. She would be able to tell that much right away.
"What's wrong?" she asked, raising her voice over the falling waterfall.

His voice had bounced off of the rock walls and if anyone had actually heard him, Drew was glad the chances of them understanding what he had yelled was probably very slim. His hand was back in his mouth, trying to suck the salt water out of the wound, as he treaded water. It was his own dang fault for not wrapping it up before jumping. It would have still stung, but not nearly as bad.

"Drew?" Arianna tried again. She reached for his hand, wanting to see just how bad it was. If it was too terrible, they might have to cut their fun short and head back for some first aid. Though she didn't want to do that, Arianna would much rather have Drew be okay than to get an extra hour of swimming.

He took his hand out of his mouth and looked at it frowning. Fresh blood trickled out from the cut, but it didn't look any worse than it had up on the rocks. Still working at keeping his upper half out of the water, he gingerly held it out for Ari to look at, as if there were a thorn in his paw he wanted her to take care of.

Arianna frowned. It really didn't look TOO terrible, but that didn't mean anything.
"Do you want to head back and patch this up real quick?" she asked, glancing up at the boy. They could get if cleaned and healed and be back to swim within a half hour. It shouldn't be too big a deal.

Drew wasn't too keen on the thought of leaving and his frown conveyed this. Even if they planned to come back, there was a high chance of getting side-tracked... meet people he really didn't care to run into again...
"It should be okay for now if I just wrap it up, right?" he asked, wanting her professional opinion. If she really thought they should go, he would go.

Arianna looked over the cut once more and shrugged as well as she could without sinking into the pool.
"I think it should be okay," she answered. "We won't be out here too long. If anything, the water will help clean it out a bit."

"Yeah, it should be," Drew agreed before sticking his hand back in his mouth. Sure, he'd have to dunk it back into the salt water to swim to shore, but for the moment it was soothing. He took a moment to really look around him at the rocks around them and the pool they were swimming in.
"Woo no, dis is weewee pwe-ee hew," he told her appreciatively.

{finally}
"It is, isn't it?" Arianna grinned. Leaning back, she floated on her back as she swam back to the shore where their clothes lay. It struck her, though, that they hadn't really brought anything for Drew's cut. Unless he had something that could help.

{ ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png) } Wincing as he removed his hand from the safty of his mouth and dipped it into the salty water again, Drew followed Ari to shore, taking his time with long strokes despite the stinging. Taking care of the rocks around, he climbed up onto the bank and picked up his shirt, wrapping it around his cut hand and tying it tight. Not the best of bandages, but adiquate protection for the afternoon.

{ ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ??} "Sure you can swim like that?" Arianna asked, gesturing to the make-shift bandage. It looked rather awkward and she thought it might slip off too easily. Of course, she didn't want to tear it into pieces to make a better wrap. That was too drastic for such a small wound.

"It'll work for now," Drew assured her with a wide smile. Yeah, it was awkward, but it would suffice.
"The worst was when it hit the water," he told her. The force of his dive had made the little flap of skin open and hurt even more. This way, it should stay closed. "Even if it doesn't stay on, it should protect the cut when I dive in."
