She couldn't help smiling as Jack came to stop only a short distance from her. Verina glanced out of the corner of her eye at the tree Jack had pointed to, "Oh no.... that just wouldn't do," she said her smile remaining firmly in place as she looked at him, "I don't know thinking 'bout it. Hmm... should i be nice..."
She pretended she was casually walking toward him so that he wouldn't try to run but in the next moment she ran toward him and skidded to a stop right in front of him. Wow the ice he stood on was slippery she hadn't meant to get that close, "This," Verina said with a mischevious smile as she patted the snowball onto his head since it was loosely put together in a rush it fell apart easily, "Much better," she grinned.

“How about that one.” Jack said grinning and pointing to another tree. He knew it wouldn’t work, but he at least had to try. There was no harm in trying right? He thought that she should be nice and not hit him point blank with a snowball, but something about her smile told him other wise. He was distracted from it though when she started coming towards him.
Jack watched as Verina came skidding over to him. Wow, she really was close and this drew his attention more then the snowball that was still in her hand did. He thought he might have to catch her if she kept coming at him. Just as he braced for the hit she came to a stop. He was a bit relieved that she had stopped since he was pretty sure that if she hit him they were both going down on the ice.
This rang through his ears and he turned his attention back to the snowball just in time to feel it colliding with his head. Looking back at her he saw the mischevious smile on her face and all he could do was laugh. “Caught me there. I’m sure it is much better for you.” he said still laughing.

"Oh yes much better... for me," Verina said her eyes alit with mischeif and her smile somewhat playful as she looked at the damage she'd made to Jack, "You remind me of a sugarplum now," she said as she looked at him tilting her head slightly to one side and laughing slightly she wasn't sure why he reminded her of that right now but he did maybe it was because Christmas was around the corner, "Yup. But don't feel bad tis' cute."
"So you give in yet?" Verina asked her expression remaining as she looked at Jack wondering if he really would after all she did get him good and when he was least expecting it. Now only thing was would be interesting getting off the ice they now found themselves both on.

“A sugarplum?” Jack asked more to himself than anything, laughing. “I’m glad you think being covered in snow is cute.” he continued with the slightest of evil grins planning on getting her back when ever he got the chance. He knew that at the moment that wasn’t really an option. He was on a patch of ice and knew that when he went to move he’d go sliding again and more than likely into her. So for know he would just bide his time and wait for a better opportunity.
“For now,” he said with a half grin half smirk.

Verina's jaw dropped in mock surprise, "You don't know what a sugarplum is! That hurts," she said before the corners of her mouth creased hinting at a smile trying to reveal itself, "You've never heard of the muggle christmas story that mentions sugar plums," she smiled, "My muggle friends told me the story one christmas."
She raised an eyebrow, "We'll see about changing that to a definant yes," she said before looking around them, "What do you say to a truce... for now Mr. Roarbitz?" Verina asked as she grinned extending her hand to him in a formal fashion, "After all don't think we'll get off here otherwise."

“Nope never heard of them before.” Jack said with a smile. He was used to not knowing things, especially since in this case it was a muggle thing and he wasn’t really familiar with the muggle traditions for Christmas. “So what’s the story?” he asked curiously wondering if she remembered it.
Jack smiled. She wouldn’t get a defiant yes from him unless she worked really hard to get him to say it, because it was just too much fun messing with her and not ever giving her a defiant answer. “Ya will see.” he said with a playful smile.
“A truce it is.” Jack said laughing and shaking her hand, “but I don’t see how a truce is going to get us off of this ice.”

"The story... hmm...," she said as she tried to remember since it had been about four or five years ago, "What about i get back to you on that was a long time ago. But i promise you'll hear the story before our little 'adventure' is through," Verina smiled since she remembered she'd enjoyed the story just needed a little time to remember all of it since she didn't want to just tell him bits and pieces of it.
Her smile grew at his words in reply to her, "Yes we will," she said as she looked at him, "Somehow i'll get a yes from you sooner or later and i'm betting on sooner."
"Guess your right," she said as she joined him in laughter, "Well we gots to figure out something together. How 'bout if one of us starts to slip and almost land on their rear," Verina said with a smile, "We'll help balance the other. Plan?"

“Fair enough.” Jack said with a smile. He wanted to hear the story but it didn’t matter if he heard it now or a little later just as long as he got to hear it before they returned back to Hogwarts. He was really interested in knowing what a sugarplum was and why she had thought he looked like one.
“You think so.” he said with a laugh. She was going to have to work hard to get and answer out of him anytime soon and especially a defiant yes answer. Personally he wouldn’t be making any kind of a bet because he didn’t know what she had up her sleeve to get him to say yes.
“Sounds like a plan to me.” Jack said still laughing and not fully understanding what they were going to do. What he had gotten from it was that if one of them went to fall the other one would catch them. He decided that he would let her go first and would catch her if she fell. “You first?” he said with a grin.

"I'll try to remember between now and tonight," Verina replied with a grin, "Yes i think so," she said a slight smirk coming to her lips she knew she'd think of something to get a yes from him it was only a matter of time.
"Oh great! Why do i have to go first," Verina said as she grumbled since she was the most clumsy person she knew and it seemed Jack was going to get to see that side of her. Probably about a third of the school's population already had., "Don't laugh," she said seriously as she looked at Jack before taking a breath she just knew this wasn't going to be pretty.
When it came to sports she wasn't clumsy at all but for some reason when it came to anything normal she was remarkably clumsp not that she minded all that much anymore. But still. She took a few steps her confidence rising in her ability and in so doing so her sense of concentration started to drift, "Hey i think i can do..." Verina didn't get to finish because in the next moment when she'd taken a step forward her foot slipped....

“We’ll see.” Jack said with a laugh. He found it rather amusing that she was so intent on him giving her a yes answer.
He thought that he was being nice letting her go first, well that and he didn’t want to make a complete fool out of himself right off the bat. There was plenty of time for that later. “I won’t,” Jack said straining hard not to chuckle a little. The mirror fact that she was telling him not to laugh suggested to him that she wasn’t all that confident about staying on her feet either and it made him smile. At least he wasn’t the only one that thought that they weren’t going to get off this ice without at least someone, probably both, of them falling.
Jack stood there watching as she started to try and walk off of the ice. For a moment it looked like she was going to be able to do it, but just as she went to exclaim so her foot slipped. He moved slightly in her direction so that he could attempt to catch her if she went all the way down. More than likely if this were to happen they would both end up on there backsides.

Oh Great... i just hope i don't fall... please don't fall, Verina thought as her foot slipped forward. She'd allready had her share of falls at hogwarts including a very nasty spill when she'd fallen down the stairs and an older girl had attempted to convince her to go to the Hospital Wing. She had her fair share of scars from 'accidents' she'd had or falls and a few battle scars from sports. In that moment she didn't know where Jack was or even if he was near enough to catch her.
Despite Verina's best efforts not to land on her rear her clumsiness won in this particular case. It usually did but in this case she would have rathered it hadn't. She extended her arms in an attempt to regain balance and in so doing so she slipped completely and began to fall what she didn't know was that Jack was in fact behind her in case she did...

Jack watched as she did this sort of acrobatic thing and attempted to stay on her feet. Though it would have been amusing if anyone were to walk upon it, what with Verina flailing her arms in an attempt to stay on her feet and slipping every which way. However, Jack wasn’t laughing at the moment. In fact his face showed no signs of emotion, it was just sort of blank.
At the moment she started to fall Jack put out his arms in an attempt to catch her, but to no avail. All that seemed to happen was that he fell back and hit the ice moments before she did hitting his tail bone rather hard. He had no clue where she was going to land.

Verina had though in those last moments as she fell backwards that maybe Jack would have enough time to catch her. What she didn't know was what was happening behind her and that in trying to help her Jack had hurt himself. Since he had been behind her at the time in an attempt to catch her Verina fell backwards and landed slightly on Jack's lap which ultimately hurt her but probably had hurt him more.
She stiffened slightly as she realized that the thing she was slightly sitting on and had landed on was not the ice but Jack. She quickly though painfully scrambled off of him wincing slightly as she moved to just in front of him, "I'm sorry," she said slightly embarrassed, "Are you okay? I'm really sorry," Verina asked concern clearly shown in her eyes and voice trying to ignore her own pain at the moment and not sure what to do to help him.

Just as he hit the ice he saw Verina come crashing down on top of him. Well at least one of us had a semi-soft landing. Jack thought as he watched her get off of him. Her landing on him had done nothing to ease the pain in his rear, if anything it made it worse. “No problem,” he said trying to right himself with difficulty. He had managed to sit up for the time being and would get to his feet in a second or so, but at the moment he just wanted to sit.
When he had finally decided to try and get up he managed to get back to his feet and off the ice but only very slowly considering he still had quite a bit of pain. “Ya I am fine. It will go away in a minute or so,” he said trying to smile, but doing more of a grimace then anything.

Verina rose as Jack did only wincing slightly and making sure that Jack didn't notice. Yes she hadn't landed on the ice but landing partially one someone else wasn't exactly the softest thing to land on either. Her face was a vision of concern as she slowly and carefully followed Jack onto solid snow. She wasn't buying that he was fine for one moment especially since she could see for herself how he was moving.
To put it simply she felt like crap, "Doesn't seem like your fine," she said softly as she saw him grimace when he'd attempted to reassure her, "Do you need hlep?" Verina asked moving closer to him and placing one of her hands on his arm to get him to stop attempting to walk and look at her she spoke in a sincere tone since this was all partly her fault.
