If only she could have had Drew with her at that point, so that he could have heard them. Rollo spoke much too fast and taking it in would be hard to do, especially after a few of those shots. Shay blinked a lot to avoid her eyes from glazing over and nodded when it seemed like it was the right thing to nod about.
"Seems like the sin of omission if an occupational hazard," she said after taking in what he said and compacting it into a gist in her mind. What he said about himself made her sad for him, as he seemed to have completely surrendered himself to this job. A question arose on her mind, but she felt like an intruder if she wanted to say it. Instead, she drifted with the flow of his conversation and nodded when he seemed befuddled by her invitation. "I know it's a little sudden seeing as I just met you today, but you don't need to worry! I usually invite a few people here and there, so it's not a huge crowd. You will be alright."
Last year's party was quite small, opening itself up to the residents of Wendelring, and a few people she had known from either a long time or just a few days before... such as Alfonz. The memories of the party popped up, and she suddenly felt that taking it to her apartment was not an appealing idea. "Plus, I'm thinking of going to Wicked Times for my birthday... I've always done the quiet house party," She said with a smile. "But I think I want to go somewhere loud and dark."
Though she said what she wanted to say about her party, her mind stuck to her previous unspoken question like a magnet. "Rollo... do you even like your job?" Her eyes looked softly at the man, sort of ready for another long ramble.
