Valentine's Day. Before she turned twelve, Hannah had never seen a reason for this day. Nor had she had any reason to see a reason for the day. Today was different, though. After leaving Hiro and Jeremy in the great hall that day and never knowing if she would see them again, the girl realized that she cared more for Jeremy than she had previously thought.
Today, Hannah had a reason to celebrate Valentines Day. Okay, maybe a small reason, but she had a reason nonetheless. The first year had owled her Dad in Australia and asked him to buy her some Lego. No questions asked, her Dad had owled back the Australian Lego and Hannah had to smile when she saw it was all ready wrapped.
Yes, she had bought Jeremy Lego for Valentine's Day, but with a twist. It was Australian Lego, so it was bound to be different than the Lego that Jeremy was used to. It was a great idea too, considering she could always pass the present off as a present in the end, it wouldn't look that suspicious. Hannah wasn't too sure how Jeremy would react once she asked him to be her Valentine for the day and she still wasn't too sure about asking him. Hannah didn't exactly want to wreck their friendship by asking the question.
The first year considered Jeremy to be one of her friends at Hogwarts, okay, the only friend she had at Hogwarts and she was just still confused if she should even be asking the question. Hannah held the present in her hands, while she waited for Jeremy in one of the more quiet area's in the Ravenclaw common room. The common room seemed like the perfect place to hand Jeremy his present, but then you could never be sure it stayed quiet.

Jeremy jumped down the steps from the boy's room slowly, one step at a time, singing his favorite song at the top of his lungs. He wasn't sure why it was his favorite other than it was about a frog named Jeremiah and he wasn't very concerned that his voice tended to crack on the higher notes. It had been doing that a lot lately but it was okay since he thought he was alone in the common room.
He reached the bottom step and took a giant bullfrog leap into the room, trying to land on the sofa, but knowing his short legs probably wouldn't get him even close. Instead, he knocked over an end table, sending the books and a lamp crashing to the floor. Again, Jeremy wasn't concerned. Since he was alone, he'd just pick it up and no one would know, right?

Hannah hadn't bothered sending a owl to Jeremy, figuring it was the common room and figuring sooner or later he would appear. 'Sides, it was another plan of hers if she felt this was too much of stupid idea to begin with, she could always leave and no one would ever know she had been there. Hannah still felt like this might wreck their friendship, but she wasn't entirely sure why it would wreck it.
Too late to turn around and never been seen now, though. What one earth was Jeremy doing? Hannah peered at him through amused eyes from the wall she was standing at and she thought he looked like a frog jumping. Rolling the present over in her hand, she wondered if this was going to be a good time to give him the present. Maybe she could give it too him later.
Watching Jeremy jump, Hannah's eye's widened when she saw that he had knocked over a table and a lamp, sending it to the floor. Leaving the present behind near the wall she was at, Hannah rushed over to Jeremy's side, glad that she was here this time, in case he was hurt. Hannah had never quite forgiven herself yet for leaving him in the great hall. "Jeremy! Are you okay? You're not hurt?" Hannah asked, trying hard not to sound like her Mum, but failing miserably, offering Jeremy her hand, she gave him a small smile.

"Fine! I'm fine!" he snapped back angrily, more embarassed about being seen in his moment of silliness than anything else and he staqrted to push her off of him before he remembered when she had fallen into the lake on Halloween. She had pushed him away and he had felt lousy. He didn't want her to feel lousy now.
"I'm okay..." he grumbled a little softer this time, appreciating her offered hand, but too proud to take it. "You won't tell anyone I turned the table over, right?" he asked, pretty sure she would keep it to herself, especailly since he asked her.

Hannah could tell all ready that this wasn't going to be the time to give him that present, nor ask that question. Not when Jeremy was all ready angry with her. Was he angry with her for leaving him in the great hall? Hannah tried to squash all those thoughts and tried to focus on what Jeremy was asking her. "No, I won't tell. 'Sides, it was an accident from where I was standing" Hannah finished off, dropping her hand to her side and starting to pick up the table, putting it right.
"You sure you're okay?" Hannah asked again, feeling silly for repeating herself, but just wanting to make sure. The girl didn't mean to fuss over him, but Hannah couldn't help it. The blond felt like she was still making up for lost time and she couldn't quite shake that feeling away. Hannah picked up some of the books, setting them back on the table as well. The room was all ready starting to look normal again.

"I'm fine," he mumbled back, rubbing a sore spot, more than a little grateful that she wasn't going to rat him out for this. If she had, he wouldn't blame her. He hadn't exactly stood up for her when she tried to break into the boys dorm and gotten them all in trouble.
He pulled himself up off the floor as she started righting the furniture and he felt bad that she was cleaning up the mess he had made. "Thanks," he grumbled low enough that she hopefully wouldn't hear him.

"Okay" Hannah replied back, feeling better knowing that Jeremy was okay, even though it looked like he was okay. Offering another smile for doing the cleaning, Hannah picked up the lamp, putting that on top of the table as well. Truth be told, Hannah hated cleaning, but it gave her something to do with her hands and it also made her avoid the thing the she was trying to say to him.
Then again, there nothing like randomness now, was there? "Hey Jeremy?" Hannah asked, figuring now that the room was somewhat back to normal, she might be able to at least wish him a happy Valentine's Day. "Happy Valentine's Day" Hannah almost whispered, her smile getting a bit wider. The girl still thought the day was a stupid day and she still hadn't gotten around to asking that question, but wishing Jeremy a Happy Valentine's Day, was a start, right?

Jeremy plopped himself on the sofa and offered Hannah a strange look at her comment, not sure what she was talking about. Of course, he knew what Valentine's Day was, but to wish him a happy one was like wishing him a Happy Hannukah. It just didn't make any sense.
"Yeah," he answered, figuring he'd better say something back and then realizing that his response probably wasn't the right one to go with. "Happy Valentine's Day," he mumbled back, avoiding her eye at all costs.

Hadn't she been thinking this was a stupid idea? and now it was presenting it's self as a stupid idea. Hannah should've gone with her first instinct and not mentioned it at all, she knew that somehow this would wreck their friendship. "It's just that, since the Deva and all.. " Hannah trailed off, not knowing how to start and not knowing how to end. Maybe later would've been a good idea to give Jeremy his present. Silly Valentine's day. It was silly all the around.
"I got you a present" Hannah finally decided to tell him, walking back over to the wall and picking up the present, before making her way over to the sofa and sitting herself close, but not too close to Jeremy. "Here" Hannah somewhat quickly said, thrusting the present in his direction. Why did they even have to have a Valentine's Day, anyhow? It was just silly no matter what way you looked at it.

Once again, Jeremy wasn't sure what she was talking about. What did those Deva people have to do wth Valentine's Day? It had to be some sort of weird girl connection he just wasn't going to understand.
And even more confusion. She thrust the box into his lap and he looked at it and then at her trying to figure it out. "It's not my birthday yet... and Christmas was ages ago," he told her looking back at the box. "I didn't get you anything." Was he supposed to get her something? He wasn't sure.

"No, it's Valentine's Day, silly. The present is a Valentine's Day gift" Hannah started, feeling stupider and stupider. The first year wasn't even sure what she was feeling anymore. Maybe it was just the fact that she still felt bad about leaving him in the great hall and she just wanted Jeremy to know that she did care for him.
"I just... I just wanted to get you something special... I still feel bad for leaving you and Hiro in the great hall" Hannah quietly said, this time Hannah avoided having eye contact with Jeremy and she never appreciated how pretty the ceiling was with all those stars strewn across until now. "And you didn't have to get me anything" Adding this as more an afterthought than anything.

Jeremy didn't understand any of it, least of all why she had gotten him a Valentine's present. That was stuff for... well, people like Drew and that rock-throwing girl. It was a relief that Hannah wasn't expecting anything back though. If she had, he would have been sunk.
"So... what is it?" he asked, hoping it wasn't something mushy. Oh, geeze... what if Hannah liked him like Drew liked the rock-thrower? ewww....

"It's just some Australian lego. I had my Dad buy me some, 'cause I know you like lego and I thought Aussie lego was just a little different than American lego" Hannah informed Jeremy, turning her brown eyes finally towards him and giving him one her smiles. "I couldn't tell you what lego it is though, my Dad had it all ready wrapped for me" Typical Henry Astley. Doing everything for his daughter and not letting her do it for herself. Not that she minded, but she was just hoping it wasn't girlie lego.
"Aren't you going to open it?" Hannah inquired off Jeremy, still feeling stupid and hoping she could just pass it off as a general present and Jeremy wouldn't see exactly what it stood for. Hannah herself still wasn't sure what the present stood for, but she did know that she cared for Jeremy just the slightest more than a friend. Hannah sighed softly for herself, she knew that this was going to be the wrong time to give him that present and ask him that question.

Jeremy was a little intrigued, mostly over the fact that she had known he liked Legos and hadn't teased him for still liking a kid toy. He was also curious about the fact that they came from Australia.
"What makes them different from regular Legos?" he asked, carefully unwrapping the paper as if he was worried it was all a mean trick and the box would blow up in his face.

"It's not that their different lego's, it's just that their Australian lego's" Hannah replied, moving closer to Jeremy and peering her head down lower to see exactly what her Dad had bought him. Hannah didn't exactly say that it was for Jeremy, she just asked him to buy her some lego's and her Dad always did what Hannah asked him to. If her Dad was smart, Hannah hoped that he had bought Jeremy some of those Bionicle lego thingy's her brother's liked. Now, they were pretty cool. "They're bound to be different, right?" Hannah asked, still hoping her Dad didn't buy the girlie stuff.
"And Jeremy?" Hannah asked suddenly, not sure why she felt like the time was right to say this, but knowing she had to say it in the end, if she was ever going to stop feeling guilty about it. "I'm sorry that I left you in the great hall, like that. I didn't want too... " Hannah trailed off, her brown eyes turning to look up at him, hoping he wasn't mad at her for leaving him like that.
