Arianna turned in the couch and peered over the back of it at Drew. She knew she should say something, but...what?
"Drew?" she called out to at least stop him from going too far. She chickened out on saying anything about the incident that morning, but said instead, "Thanks...for the cake. Erm...I thought you might like to keep a whole chicken or maybe some turkey in there, though."

Drew stopped at the door, shrugging her thanks off and a little surprised she had actually taken him up on his offer. "Baked good keep better," he answered quietly. "I have some fruit in there if you want that instead."

"I didn't see them in there," Arianna claimed. Okay, it wasn't quite true. She'd seen them. But if she had to get Drew to show her where he might be hiding the apples or oranges, maybe she'd think of something to say.

"Sorry..." Drew answered, shrugging again and feeling like she was holding him personally responsible for her unhealthy dinner choices. "I thought I had some oranges and stuff in there." He'd have to restock if he was out.

Arianna's nose scrunched. Why was he sorry? It wasn't his fault he hadn't known Ari would need something to eat. It didn't look like she'd be able to get him to stay either.
"I'll have to look again," she murmured as she turned and sat back onto the couch. She was clearly disappointed that things weren't going the way she would have liked. Maybe one day just wasn't enough to ease the tension.

"They're usually right there in front," Drew answered, shrugging yet again and kicking at the lint on the rug. "If you didn't see them, they're probably not there." He had found out that shoving the fruit in the back usually resulted in him forgetting it was there, which let to it molding over and ruining his whole snack supply.

"Mmmkay," Arianna's head disappeared behind the back of the couch as she lay down. She really hated feeling like this, but what could she do, anyway? What would she say? She wasn't going to appologize for anything and she didn't want to be the one to bring up breakfast.
"I'll see you later then," she muttered, lifting a hand lazily to wave Drew off. She wasn't so sure she would, though.

It didn't sound any more convincing when she said it. "Yeah, I guess," Drew mumbled as he put his hand on the door to pull it open. He couldn't go through with it though and just stood like that for a moment, heaving a deep sigh.
"You don't really think that..." He gave another heavy sigh and shook his head, not sure he even wanted to say it.

Arianna didn't dare answer. He was right. It wasn't like they'd spent much time hanging out lately. She actually couldn't remember the last time they'd hung out together. Commenting on it wouldn't help any, though.
Matching Drew's sigh, Arianna rolled over onto her stomach and buried her face under her arms.

He wasn't sure what it meant when she didn't respond. It wasn't like he had really finished his thought, so it wasn't like she could really answer.
Still, the silence hurt and part of him just wanted to go and leave her alone, give her what she wanted. But the bigger part of him still cared what she thought and still wanted answers and wouldn't let him go.

Letting out another sigh, Arianna sat up and rubbed her eyes. Her stomach growled loudly, causing her to frown. The food she had eaten was doing nothing to stop her hunger. Arianna didn't think she could wait any longer.
"I'm heading down to the kitchens," she slid off the couch and headed to the door. Stopping just beside Drew, she reached out and placed her hand upon his arm. "Come with me?"

He almost made an excuse about studying for OWLs, figuring she really didn't want him to go along.
But the touch of her hand caught his attention and he looked down at his arm, a little confused. It hadn't been a grudgingly offered invitation, but more of a request.
"Okay..." he answered carefully, still not sure he was really wanted.

"You can bring your homework along," Arianna suggested, shrugging slightly. Yeah, she knew they needed to talk, but it might be easier to start with something else and work into it. It was also easier to suggest than coming right out and mentioning the newspaper article. "I can help you out if you need me to."

"You have your own stuff to worry about..." Drew answered, though he couldn't help but wonder how good Ari was at Astromomy. Alhana had offered to help him any time he wanted, but he had quickly learned studying with Alhana wasn't the best idea if he actually wanted to pass his classes.

"Like staying friends with my best friend?" Arianna questioned, raising an eyebrow. She always wondered why she got the feeling that Drew might think she had more important things to do than bother with him. It wasn't a bother for her, of course. That's now how she viewed it anyway. But it really meant more to her to do what she could to for her friends than anything else.
"Come," Arianna urged again, tugging a bit at his shirt. She'd understand if he really didn't want to, but hoped he would. "We can ask the elves for some pumpkin pie even."
