Nicolae checked the time again. It was indeed only the afternoon, but it looked like it could be night already. The grounds were basically bare and the wind was starting to whip around his head.
He looked over the lake as his robes blew to the left. He was staring straight ahead though he couldn't see anything. He barely could hear anything with the wind blowing which is why he almost missed the approach of footsteps.

(Judging by your post its about 5:30 ish DST. Works for me.)
Dark indeed, perhaps nearing the end of sunset. that made it only 5:30. An hour before dinner but she wasn't hungry at all, nor did she know why. All this first year knew was the outside called her, and windy or not she would enjoy herself.
The wind put reading out of the question, made it bloody impossible actually. Irregardless, her footfalls were quieted by the wind, and she could barely tell one shadow from another. Barely until she was right in front of one that suddenly bore a distinctly different shape than a tree.
Definitely a person, and she had almost walked into them. Tilting her head she looked up at who it was and found she didn't know the boy, not surprising really. Not at all.

Nicolae looked down at Lianna and gave a small smile. He knew his smile looked cold and calculated, but that was only because it was a bit chilly and he was starting to feel it. She definitely had to be younger than him or really really short.
"What are you doing out in something like this?" Nicoale waved his arm to emcompass the winds and the growing dark nite. "You should know better than this."

"Dunno, really, but then again, weather isn't neutral." She replied with a small smile in return. His wasn't all that appealing, but it wasn't forceful, nor angered, and for now seemed trusting.
She really didn't know more how to reply to his question, 'Why'. That so common, but so difficult question, difficult because one never really knew their true intentions until after the fact. Shifting her weight slightly she gazed out across the darkened grounds, finding images amongst the shadows, a dog, bird, broom, every time the wind blew something else changed. Another variable created.

Nicolae shook his head. She was a young girl and had no business out like this. What is it with rich girls? Have they no mind? "Why? Because anything could be out in the night. Anything could get you. Hell, I could get you. You don't even know me yet you stand here and converse with me. I can easily overpower you and yet you think nuthin about you. You shouldn't be out here alone."

He had a point, a good one at that, but if he really wanted ot get her, he would have in her first intiial moment of confusion. She knew that, and thus now wasn't as worried. Still, he deserved an answer, and an answer she gave.
"If you wanted to, you wouldn't have let me get as close as I did, you wouldn't have let me speak, then, or now. Yet, you are. Your actions say alot more than you realize." She countered, her eyes flicking to him briefly before back to the shadowy grounds before her.
No, there wasn't a thing to be worried of and she knew it. She was certain. Mentally.

Nicolae looked at the younger girl and wonder how she became so wise. He just sniffed in reply to her words. "Nicolae. My name is Nicolae Torque."

"Lianna Maylorn." She replied just as brief, no 'nice to emet you' or, 'a pelasure' added. His words, though they didn't install fear into her, they had installed a sudden sense of caution. Caution and fear were to completely different things.

He looked down at her and could sense her response to his name. Since he just arrived he couldn't have a reputation already. "Slytherin. I'm a 4th year Slytherin. You would be?" Unconsciously Nicolae moved closer to her shielding the wind from her body and taking the full effect of the wind on his skin alone.

She noticed his movements, treating her as though she was some rich man's daughter who needed an unbrella to shield her from a drop of water. Stubbornly she moved out of his shielding again, allowing the wind to have its way with her hair.
It didn't matter to her, it was just wind. It wasn't like she'd blow away. "Hufflepuff, first year." She replied again, brief. She was tired of being treated as though she had no control over her life (which, technically she didn't), she didn't care about the weather. And though this boy had some sense of chivalry, it wasn't necessary. At all.

Nicolae couldn't help it. It was in his nature from seeing women get treated like dirt and his mother's death that he felt this need that women shouldn't go through what men did. Goodness forbid him if he should ever date a female who was a liberal woman. Again Nicolae shifted his position so that she was shieled. He could do this all nite.
"Nice ot meet you," he casually replied.

He was stubborn, she was stubborn, it would go no where at this rate, so, it looked like pampering it was. She did nothing to her hair except push it out of her eyes once it had resettled.
"You to...you do know you don't have to do that, right?" She replied in question to the older boy. He was at least three years her elder, but that didn't mean she couldn't remind him that she could take care of herself on some instances. He was, after all, a stranger to her.

"Do what?" He questioned not really sure what she was talking about. It came like second nature to do that to women that he didn't really realize. Though he did flirt and tease them at the same time. It was a weird contradiction in him, but again he didn't notice.

"Blocking the wind, it actually feels kinda nice." She responded quietly to his clueless expression. Apparently he was chivalrous by nature, which meant though he looked intimidating, he was as cruel as a puppy unless provoked. And she wouldn't do that, not intentionally.

Nicolae looked out over the lake as he contemplated what she said. Slowly he moved over a bit so that some wind blew her way, but not a lot. She looked like one of the girls back home who didn't have an older sibling to look out for them and was clueless about the world. "How's that?" If she shivered he would quickly block out the wind again.
