She of course did shiver at the sudden removal of the shield but only for a moment, a brief moment. If he hadn't kept blocking the wind in the first place, she wouldn't have shivered. If he hadn't been so chivalrous, nor she so stubborn. If. One word that changes everything.
"Fine, its fine..." She replied initially, what would become her only reply. She just didn't know how to respond to this, the chivalry, the 'duty' and such. It seemed so, foreign to her. So, unnecessary.

Nicolae caught the movement and immediately moved to his original position. He looked down at the younger girl and didn't mean to voice his thought aloud. Espeically since he already asked it. "What ARE you doing out here this time of night?"

By this point the control on her temper was near fading. She hadn't shivered THAT much. Honestly, so she shook alittle, did that mean she was freezing to death? No. Certainly not.
"I'm out here because one, I'm not hungry, two, I can be since its before curfew, and three, the moon comes out early and I like to enjoy it. Its usually a nice view." She responded, her temper peeking out alittle.

Nicolae chuckled at her bravery bravado. He was used to such in the hood, but he wasn't sure what rich girls had to be brave about. "Ever wonder what this? All this? Magick I mean."

"You mean like, what is for?" She questioned in return to his rather, unclear, question. Sure, she wondered about it, but as to what it was, or what it was for, she was unconcerned about it. Figured she'd elarn about it eventually anyway so why ask about what your going to be told?
To her, the philosophy made sense.

Nicolae didn't mean to burden the younger girl, but he was just thinking outloud. Plus he figured she would just ignore him. "I mean, I knew about being a wizard, but I ignored it. My father doesn't do magick anymore and well I don't have any powers or anything. I was basically a muggle and now all this it's just. Freaking mind blowin."

She nodded in understanding. "My mum tried to keep it from me, what I was...dad told me anyway...I didn't know who to believe for awhile. Thought they were both playing fairy tale..." She said with a small frown before looking up at the white ball of light.
"Look where I am now...I'm at a school where I don't know anyone, and barely know just what being a 'witch' is." Lianna finished with a small half smile, half frown. But her eyes showed far more than that. They showed just how furious she was at her parents for having such descerning views, why she wanted to be in charge of her own life...

Nic looked down at Lianna and understood a bit of what she was saying; going through. "Yeah I feel the same way. Its like I don't know anyone here really and the few I do know just think of me with this preconceive notions and what not. I'm not sure what a witch is either or wizard. Plus I'm not in control. I feel..." Nic could finish.

"Lost?" She finished with a small smile. The word could fit depending on how he decided to interpret it. In reality she felt the same way, she knew people, but that didn't make understanding any easier. Nothing would make that easier.
It all made no difference, friends, family, none of that really mattered. All she wanted was two things, her own life, and to understand. She would only get one of them she knew, but the one she did get was worth fighting to receive.

"Yes," Nicolae exclaimed. "Lost. It's so different and not what I known or knew. I just want to be like how things were, but I know this is better, but I still want my old life back." Nicolae knew it made no sense. It didn't even make any sense to his own ears.

She didn't comprehend what he'd just said, but then again she didn't have to. They both, though having disagreed throughout however long it had been now, had something they wanted, or wished for.
"That...really doesn't make sense to me, but, I doubt I've made much sense to you either, so, we're even, yes?" She questioned with a small smile in jest.

Nicolae smiled at her. "Ya." He watched the moon glisten off the water and he sighed. It was a beautiful sight and one he had never seen before. That was another example of what he meant. This was not his life. This didn't make any sense.

She was silent for a moment, not sure what to say to the boy, the foreigner from across the pond. It was clear to her by this time he was American, that, on top of coming here was more fuel to the fire. Not only was this a new life for him, it was a new environment. A whole new playing field.
And none of the pieces obeyed your command.
"Well...I can't help you get back to where ever it is you want to go, but, I can make you more welcome here...I guess." She said awkwardly. How could she? They were both in the same boat technically, new, confused, and both wanted something neither could give the other in any way.

Nic smiled at the younger girl. "Friends. That would help us both especially since we both know what the other is going through sort of. You want to be in control of your life. Though for the life of me I don't see why you feel you are not." Nic was encouraging her to open up.

She nodded at first, before realizing what he was getting at. Why he cared about her story she didn't know, but, it did make room for quite a bit of small talk.
"My mum's a muggle, married my dad and tried to understand..w.ell, this. she didn't want me to go here, was flat against it, till...I somehow shattered the china cabinet from across the room...that got her attention."
It was also six years prior, and thus the past five were, testy, to say the least. Some days she had control, others she didn't. That simple, very messy.
