Arianna smiled down at the tiny black kitten as she tied the dark blue ribbon into a small bow. The little guy had grown on her in the few days since she had found him and Arianna quietly hoped no one would come to claim him. She held off on naming him, but had one in mind and had even carved a small wooden tag just the right size for that very name. It now dangled from the ribbon, making the kitten resemble a cute playfull Christmas gift.
"There you go," Arianna set the creature down on the floor and watched as he wandered about the room, poking his nose in every corner and investigating all the holes in the wall. It brought a smile to her face and warm feeling inside. One she wished she could feel all the time and share everyone she knew. It certainly was a good distraction from this morning's...incident.

After dealing with Reina in the common room, Drew had taken to wandering the castle, not ready to go back to the common room yet. Ari was the last person he expected to see as he stumbled into one of the tower rooms.
"Oh, sorry... didn't know you were in here," he mumbled, backing out to leave again.

Arianna had had no clue where Drew had run off to this morning. After she'd talked to Lily, she'd grabbed a small breakfast before hurrying off to find the boy. He had hidden very well or somewhere she couldn't/didn't know how to get into and this was the first time she had seen him since, so it was no surprise that she felt some relief when she heard his voice.
"Drew?" she looked back over her shoulder just in time to see him leaving. A small frown threatened her lips. Drew obviously wanted to be alone. "I was just leaving," the girl claimed as she bent down to pick up the kitten.

"Suit yourself," Drew answered with a shrug, still planning on finding a new place to hang out despite what she said. It didn't matter to him what she did as long as she didn't bother him about it.

Arianna bit her lip. She plopped back down on the floor and stared after the boy. Busy trying to figure out what to say, she hadn't noticed that the kitten had escaped and was heading straight for Drew. It dodged around his feet and went for the door, where it found something more interesting to play with - a little bug.

The kitten slipped through his feet and Drew saw it just an instant before he was going to step on it. In an effort to avoid planting his rather large feet on the very small cat, he ended up stepping wrong and gewtting himself tangled before losing his balance and loanding on his backside for the second time that day. He cursed loudly, mostly out of surprise rather than anger as he realized what had caused him to trip.

Arianna's first reaction was to wince at the crash that followed. Her next was to jump up and run over to grab the little cat, appologizing the whole way.
"I'm so sorry," she said as she scooped the kitten up. Arianna felt relieved that the kitten was safe, but she awaited the snapping she was certain would follow. "I should be paying more attention. I shouldn't have let him run off like that."

Drew shrugged in return, mostly glad he hadn't actually landed on the runaway kitten. He was slightly curious as to where the cat had come from, but didn't want to let on that he really cared. He was sure that not caring was so much easier.

"Are you okay?" Arianna asked, biting her lip. She turned to Drew with the kitten clutched against her chest. She was concerned about more than the fall, but didn't want to mention anything about this morning yet.
"He's not as bad as Goober, but he still likes to get into things," she commented, scratching the kitten behind it's ears.

"Sure I'm okay," Drew answered back, shrugging again. His tone of voice made it clear that there was no reason why he wouldn't be okay; her concern was duly noted, but not really needed.

"Oh. Well...I got you something," placing the kitten in one arm, Arianna dug into her pocket with her free hand and produced an apple, which she held out for the boy. It had a small bruise on it, but she didn't think he would mind. It was still good. "I didn't know if you'd gotten anything to eat after....Thought you might need something until dinner."

"Yeah, thanks... but I'm okay," he answered with a small smile, but not taking the offered apple. He wasn't sure why she thought she had to watch out for him, and again, he was touched, but didn't think it was necessary. "I'll grab something a little later if I need to."

"Okay," Arianna tucked the apple away. She had an odd feeling that Drew didn't want to be around her, but she'd felt that way since he told her to leave him alone. There were lots of things she wanted to say, but didn't dare do so.
"I tried to find you," the girl commented as she wandered over to the nearest window and peered out. The kitten in her hands was getting squirmy, so he set him down and watched him as she headed towards Drew's big shoes. Despite the odd feeling, Arianna couldn't help but smile when the kitten attacked the boy's shoe laces, poking at them with his little paws and then attempting to chew on them. It obviously found them as facinating as bugs, yarn, and ribbons.

He had to smile as his shoes were attacked and he couldn't help but think how lucky the little guy had been that Drew hadn't stepped on him. The boy's feet were easily twice as big as the kitten.
"Why were you looking for me?" he asked, frowning at her.

"To make sure you were okay," Arianna replied with a shrug. She moved to the floor and leaned against the wall, her knees pulled to her chest. Her eyes turned to the floor beside her as she picked at a few splinters in the floor board.
