"I told you... I'm okay," Drwe answered back with another shrug. He debated on just up and leaving, but was afraid to move for fear of hurting the kitten running around his ankles.

"You didn't look okay this morning," Arianna pointed out, hoping she didn't sound like she was about to cry. Just thinking of how Drew had begged Lily to leave him alone was too much for her. How had she been able to stay as calm as she had earlier?
"Do you still want me to leave you alone?" she asked quietly, daring a glance up at the boy. Before he answered, though, she was already crawling across the floor to get her kitten to stop bothering Drew.

"What?" Drew answered, pretending to be confused by what she was saying. He wasn't about to let on that anything had been bothering him that morning or any other. "I'm okay... really."

"Oh. Okay," Arianna reached for the little kitten, but it jumped away from her hands, knocked into Drew's ankle, and rolled onto the floor. Arianna shook her head at the cat's antics and pulled him up into her arms.
"Silly kitty," she muttered, scratching it under its chin. She took the kitten and crawled back to her place under the window. The whole situation felt vaguely familiar with Arianna feeling something was wrong and Drew denying anything was going on.

"So, whose cat is it?" Drew finally asked, mostly in an effort to redirect the conversation. The kitten reminded him of Mocha, the only difference being this kitten seemed to actually like him where as Alhana's cat hissed anytime he came near it.

"Mine. I hope," Arianna replied. No one had come around asking about a little kitten, but it had only been a day or two since she had found it. Of course, there was always the possibility that someone's cat had had kittens without the owner's knowledge. It was something Arianna thought odd but had heard of it happening before. She had already grown attached to the cat and knew she would cry if someone did come looking for it.

"Really?" Drew answered, thinking that sounded kind of neat. He had never been big on cats, but this one was kind of cool, considering it actually seemed to like him. "So, do you have a name for him yet?"

"I have one in mind," Arianna replied with a small shrug. The kitten was now playing with the little ribbon ties on the front of her blouse. "I was waiting to see if anyone might claim him, though."

"How long have you had him?" Drew asked, wondering if he had been so neglectful of Ari that he hadn't even bothered to notice her new pet.
No... he told himself he hadn't been. This was the way it should be. This way was better for everyone in the long run.

"I found him two days ago, just after dinner," Arianna replied. She wondered what was really going through Drew's head, but it was probably best that she didn't know. If she did, Arianna might have a breakdown herself. "He wasn't doing too good for a while there, but today....Well, you see how energetic he is."

"It looks like you're taking really good care of him," Drew said casually, smiling at her. He felt better knowing it hadn't been THAT long that she had the kitten... even though her business wasn't his business to begin with... really it wasn't.

"Thanks," Arianna smiled. Setting the kitten down again, she let it explore the room again.
"So...what do you think of the name Juniper?" she asked, watching the kitten as it disappeard under an old desk in the corner then ran back out, sneezing, covered with dust, and chasing a spider across the floor.

"Good name... annoying plant," Drew answered with a small smile. "My mum paid a buttload to get them removed from our yard. My dad told her to do it by magic, but she thought the neighbors would notice."

"She should have done it at night, then," Arianna claimed. "And then been vague enought about it if the neighbors asked. Eventually they would've thought they were just going crazy."
Rolling over onto her stomach, Arianna watched the kitten for a moment before calling out to it.
"Juniper," she tested the name, liking it more than ever. The question now was if the kitten would like it. "Juniper." This time the kitten raised it's head and looked over to Arianna for a split second before turning back to where the spider had been moment before. It stared at the ground a moment wondering what had happened to its toy. Arianna distracted him again by calling out the name once more. To her delight, the kitten ran to her. But maybe that was because it just wanted to play with her ribbons again and not because it liked the name. Arianna didn't care, though. The cat was definately a Juniper.

"You didn't see the junipers she wanted to get rid of," Drew answered with a small smile. The plants had overtaken the yard and there would be no way to cover-up the fact that they had existed if they just disapeared.
