The lesson would be held outside this day, despite the dropping temperatures. A number of crates were lined up by the back door of the hut and the old pumpkin patch had been plowed though and dug up. The lesson would be a messy one today, but she doubted her fourth years would mind much. A large fire was burning nearby to keep everyone warm and Becca was reading her book on the steps of the classroom as she waited for the students.

As Charlie arrived to the outside lesson, her voice was heavy and her breath was visible and thick everytime she exhaled. Indeed, she had ran to the class. She was in no hurry, and she sure didn't want to make it to class early. But she ran to keep warm. Despite her usual environment being frosty temperatures, her body wasn't as ready as her mind was, and so she needed to keep herself from becoming an icicle.
Thankful that the professor wasn't a total ice queen as she neared the pumpkin patch that was faintly lit with the flames of the fire, she dropped her books near by and dropped herself on the ground at safe distance, so she could hold out her hands and savor the warmth that came once and again.
"Yello, prof," Charlie mumbled, rubbing her hands together to stir the heat beyond her fingers.

By now Hiro knew that if the classroom was locked the class was going to be outside near the caretakers hut. The scent of smoke allowed him to find the exact location easier though he hated the smell. The moment Hiro could start to feel the heat of the flame he stopped and sat down, he never got close to fires.

"Come to join the bon fire?" Charlie asked Hiro, though it would have come off as sarcasm since he wasn't close to the warmth of the fire at all. She tilted her head and tried to get some conversation going before they would have to learn about some other creature. "Forgot to bring the marshmellows, Hiro?"

Walking down from the castle, Cameron was freezing. Seeing the professor, Charlie and Hiro was outside, by a fire, Cameron walked over to the bonfire. "Hi everyone, hi professor."Cameron said through chattering teeth. She got close, but not too close enough to burn herself. "Brr..."Cameron muttered. It was freezing.

"I've got marshmellows!" Alhana exclaimed with a grin, coming up behind the two and cacthing the last bit of what Charlie said. She was bundled down with a heavy cloak, thick gloves and a scarf that covered part of her face. Her bag was slung into the crook of her arm and she plopped down uncerimoniously where she was until the rest of their classmates arrived. It was a bit breezy out and the closer you were to the ground, the better. The raging fire was a big help, too.

(I was logged out when posting so it got weird)
"Forgot the gram crackers and chocolate too." He said not getting any closer to the fire. The fact that it was so cold didn't seem to affect Hiro.

Charlie grinned at the Gryffindor girl. "Awesome! Pass some over here. I'll look for some sticks or something," she got up and hunted for some twigs that were fortunately in supply. When she came back with four sticks, she handed them out to everyone.

{Hiro, I took care of your random post. And class is ALWAYS at the old caretaker's hut } "You're lucky we aren't studying bowtruckles," Becca announced from behind her book. She figured a few marshmallows before class started wouldn't hurt any as long as the Nifflers didn't get into them later.

Drew ran up to the hut almost forgetting that he was supposed to be in this class as well { } He tossed his backpack aside and joined the rest around the fire. "Anyone up for smores?" he asked.

"They'll have to wait for after class," Becca announced, hearing the bells chime the hour and the beginning of class. She snapped her book shut and stood up, brushing the dust off of her robes. "We're in back today by the pumpkin patch," she told them. The crop had been harvested just the week before. Perfect timing for the lesson.
"We're having a bit of a contest today," she announced to the class as they followed behind her. "But first, we discuss our creature... Nifflers. Let's start with what you already know... anyone?"

(there was a time when it wasn't ) "Nifflers are small rodent like burrowing creatures that have a love for things that shin." Hiro said as they traveld around the back, Hiro could easily keep up with the class and it was quickly becoming one of his best.

"Contest?" Charlie perked up to, but not too much to the discussion and lecture part. She dropped all od the sticks and was following the herd to the pumpkin patch. She still had her mind on what the conest was about, wondering how burrowing animals would come to play in this.

Nic seemed to come out of the shadows. He closed his eyes as he tried to remember back at his aunt's house. "Nifflers. I remember those. There these scraggly, furry animals. There like living metal detectors, but not just metal, anything shiny. I remember this one time, my aunt loves jewlery and my cousin had a Niffler as a pet. He thought it was a gerbil or something I don't know. He hid it for days, but it was discovered when you heard my aunt screaming. The niffler finally found her and was trying to get her jewlry. He got his butt whooped." Nic laughed. It was one of his happier memories and it showed.

{I know, but since we've come to HR, it's said that class has always been here}
"So you know your creatures," Becca announced, pleased with the group. She was thankful they werent' as moody as they had been last time around. "So here's how we go about it. Everyone gets a niffler and sets him loose in the field. Whoever's animal collects the most treasure, wins the prize. Just so you know, it's leprechaun gold in there, so it's pretty much worthless. Andyou may want to remove yoru valuables and put them in a safe place before we start."
