Asap sat in the soft sand and rounded pebbles of the shore on the far side of the lake where not as many people came. Here he had chosen to lay out his papers and books and do his homework, for he certainly had a lot, almost double that of his classmates for they had been able to do that work in class. He was writing on a very ink filled scroll that was full of many things crossed out and sloppy handwriting. He heard footsteps approaching and quickly hid the parchment and closed his book, keeping his thumb in it so he didn’t lose his place and looked up to see who it was.

Sabrina was walking around the grounds after the busy day of classes. She thought it would take her mind off of things. She loved walking around the water. It was just so peaceful. Then she noticed that strange, quiet boy from her classes. She grew up her courage to talk to him. She wanted to know why he never talked to anyone. Maybe he didn't have any friends yet. I sure don't. Well, except for Michelle, she's awsome. she thought. As she walked closer, he must of heard her because he hid whatever he was doing in his book.
"Hi, um, I'm Sabrina." she said to him. She also stuck out a friendly hand shake. She didn't want to spill her whole life story to this stranger as she tended to do. So she kept it short and simple.

Asap looked at her hand, somewhat suspiciously, but only for a second before shaking briefly and withdrawing quickly. In the second he just looked at her hand he was reminding himself that there was no need to be suspicious of her, it was simply a greeting and nothing more, he was at Hogwarts, not on the street so he shook her hand and answered, “Hey, I’m Asap. I already knew your name, though you’re in my classes.” He smiled friendlily at her. And marked the page in his book by dog-earing a corner and set it down.

"O yea." she said back. She knew they had the same classes, she just had to say her name. If her parents knew, they'd be mad at her 'poor greeting etiquette'. She was a little taken a-back by the quick jerk of his hand. He had pulled away so quickly. Maybe he didn't really want me there. She discared that thought soon enough though. She started to look at the lake. It was beautiful. The sun setting made it better. She sat down next to Asap. "Can I ask you something?" she asked.

"You just did." He pointed out as he quickly shoved all his books and papers into his bag when it became apparent she was planning to stay. Once his stuff was safely hidden away he looked out over the lake as well. It was so big, everything here was so big. There were just so much space that looking at it all made him uncomfortable. He was used to tall building and close streets and alley ways and smog filled skies. “But go ahead. You shouldn’t have to ask to ask, I don’t have to answer after all.”

"Yea, I guess you don't." she said back to him. "Well, I was just wondering, why do you always just come into class and sit by yourself in the way back? I mean I normally wouldn't even care, but you do it in every class. You never even look up. The only time I ever heard you speak was in...what was it? Um, Herbology! That's it." she told him. She hope he didn't find her totally out of her mind.

“Well that’s not all that bad a question. The answer is simple. I don't want to be noticed." He answered and paused before giving a slightly more detailed reply, "If your noticed the professor's call on you. I don't want the teacher to call on me to read from the board or read allowed from a text book or anything else. If there is a question to which I know the answer and nobody else does, then I'll raise my hand in class." He laughed and leaned back on his elbows. (Is this before or after the thread in the owlrey?)

"Well, if trying to not to be noticed, you'll miss out on the 'fun' part of school, the friends you meet. If you just keep to yourself, you'll never meet anyone. You know?" she said. She liked talking to him. She was for-real with her. He said what he really felt and he wasn't afraid to say it. Maybe he was a little nervous to just say he didn't want to be noticed, but at least he said it.

"I don't need the 'fun' part of school. Friends distract you and enemies occupy you, both are the same thing, distractions. It is best to remain unnoticed. Besides, I'll need all the time I can spare to be able to keep up in classes. Even unnoticed, you watch, I'll be flunking out before midterm." He said. “Besides, it’s not the ‘fun’ I’m trying to hide from. It’s the professors. I can make friends outside of class.”

"Yea I guess I know what you mean." she said. " and I don't think you'll flunk out." she sat back so she could look at the sunset again. It was still so beautiful. She looked back at Asap. "You know you could do good if ya tried." she looked back at the sky. She liked talking to people. Not just him, but anyone in general. It felt good to get stuff of your chest. I wonder if he feels the same. she thought.

He laughed at her comment. "I do. Trust me, I do. But there are...certain things that make me fall far behind in classed." The sky was getting dark and mosquitoes were beginning to come out. He grinned and got up and moved behind a rather large boulder where he could not be seen. Here he had earlier built a little tepee of twigs with a page of paper blank stuck in-between, he had cleared the ground around it of any vegetation for three feet and had all the flammable stuff he had collected in a pile next to the rock. He pulled a box of matched out of his bag and lit the tepee and returned the matches to his bag. The smoke furled all around him for a moment then was caught by the wind and floated upward and a clear white stream that vanished a few feet up, all the same it had the desired effect and soon all the bugs had gone for a seven foot radius. He turned to her and asked, “You won’t rat, will you?”

"Of course not." she said. Actually she thought it was really cool how he just made a little fire and everything. It was perfect at getting the bugs away. She was just beginning to get bothered by them. She moved closer to it. "So, you don't talk to anybody? at all?" she asked. "That must be pretty boring. I think. As you can tell, I like to talk." she said and smiled at her little joke.

"I talk if spoken to. In silence is knowledge, when your quiet you can hear what others are talking about, besides the louder you are, the more attention you get. It's not boring." He pulled his notebook out of his bag and flipped through to find the reason he had made the fire in the first place. He had completed a drawing this morning and another the night before and needed to burn them. One picture was of a meadow all in bloom with a deer grazing in it and an Indian hunter crouched in the forest with his bow ready, the other was of an alley. Long and dark, the sky was full of heavy clouds the cobblestone street was full of potholes, in one wall was a large vent without it’s cover and a small dirty face of a child peering out. He was careful to hold it so she couldn’t see the pictures as he decided which to burn first.

Sabrina saw him go into his bag and take out what looked to be papers of some sort. She was a very nosy person, and knew that people found it annoying. But she had to know what it was. "Watcha got there?" she asked him. By the way he was holding it, it seemed he didn't want her to see it. Once she knew he didn't want her to see it, it made her even more interested in it.

He grinned up at her and said, "Fuel for the fire." He used a stick to nock it down so it was more spread out and not as high, added a few sticks, then tore out the city picture and gentle set it in the heart of the fire. He watched as for a moment the fire did not effect it then the edges began to shrink and turn black, then a hole appeared in the middle and rushed towards the sides that were closing in quickly. In a curl of blue flame it was gone, he smiled as he watched the fire eat it.
He looked up at her. “Why do you want to know, anyway?” He asked suspiciously.
