THWACK!!!!
THWACK!!!!
THWACK!!!!
Mike tilted his helmet again and gripped his bat, his eyes on the 'pitcher' as they started their windup, Mike watched every movement they made, as the released the ball it was as though everything went in slow motion, he watched the flight of the ball, gripped his bat a bit and then swung.
WHOOSH!!!!
"Arghh!!"
Mike yelled, the 'pitcher' had beaten him with a slider that would of clipped the outside of the strikezone perfectly. But he had no time to waste as he had charmed the balls to be pitched in at the average pitchers set up and release time.
He set himself up in the box again and gritted his teeth, the pitch came in again, this time it was a fastball straight down the heart of the plate, Mike swung hard and felt the bat hit the ball, and as he followed through he watched it sail into the Forbidden Forest.

Lauren carried herself about the grounds seemingly drunk. She wasn't, but she seemed to stumble over her feet with each step and her eyes were rather droopy. Now, normally Lauren would have been up hours ago, but she couldn't wake up today. She still got up, with no knowledge of anything at the moment. Her thoughts were empty, she didn't even know the day, much less the time of day.
She watched something soar across the sky, into Forbidden Forest. She began to run toward it, yet, she tilted her head back, wondering who hit it. For all she knew it was her mind playing tricks on her.
Still, she followed where she thought it was hit. She saw a figure in front of her and began walking toward -- him, it was a him.
She wiped her eyes, trying to open them more. It didn't do much, but it would have to do for now. Talking would wake her up. She walked toward the boy and watched as he hit the balls as far and hard as he could. She smirked,
"Very nice," she said. Glad I'm not on the team if he's their beater, she told herself.

Mike suddenly heard a voice behind him, it wasn't one that was familiar to him, but none the less, he pulled out his wand
"Finite Incantartum"
He muttered and the balls that were coming from the 'pitcher' all dropped from the air, as lifeless as they were normally, he dropped his bat and took off his helmet, before turning and smiling at the girl.
"Thanks, I'm Mike....Mike Rolen 6th Year 'Puff"
He said extending his hand to her

Puff. As far as Lauren knew, there was no house called 'Puff,' but logic would lead her to believe he meant Hufflepuff. Truly, she'd yet to have a real decent sized conversation with a Hufflepuff. Oh well, she still eyed his hand like she would if it was anyone else. Reluctantly, she took it in hers and shook it. Anyone with a bat would've given Lauren the creeps, but she shook his hand anyway.
"Mm-hmm," she said with a nod. "I'm Lauren Stone; Fourth Year Slyth," she said, realizing that shortened word made absolutely no said. "erin," she added, trying to act all nonchalant and cool as she said it. Most likely, it didn't work.

Mike uttered a stifled laugh as Lauren tried to shorten Slytherin, to something as cool as 'Puffs.....but unfortunatley failed miserably.
"Nice to meet you Lauren"
He said with a grin on his face, lately he had been having trouble with Slytherins but you never know.
"So whats up?"
He asked as he bent down and picked up his Cardinals cap and put it on his head

She gave a short nod, seeing he noticed how she tried to shorten the word. She'd definitely have to work on that. There had to be something cooler to call her and the other Slytherins besides 'Slytherin'. She'd have to put that on her 'to-do' list, if only she had one.
Lauren shook her head, placing her hands on her hips,
"I don't know. You ever had a hangover?" she asked softly, "Without drinking?" That's what she assumed this was. She had a massive headache and her feet were numb. However, feet numbing was not something she often heard associated with getting drunk or a hangover, but with her maybe it was. She, only, could not remember drinking, nor when would she have had the chance. She wouldn't have.

Mike looked at her funny, a hangover without drinking.....well that was a new one to Mike. Sure he'd been hungover once, but that was during the summer at a beach party, but thats another story.
"A hangover....without drinking....no"
He said slightly confused by the whole matter, couldn't of she gone and seen the nurse or something about it

"Hmm," she moaned slightly. She loved the topic to be about her, but if she didn't change it soon enough, he might get freaked. Of course, it might be fun to freak him out. No Lauren, you're goal this year is to have more than one friend. Be nice, or at least be sociable.
"So, I saw you hitting those. Was that actually you, or where they enchanted to go extra far?" She asked, remembering him muttering a spell.

"Yeah, that was me, they only enchanted for different pitches and speeds, gotta keep up my practice somehow"
He said with a shrug, he place his wand back in his pocket as he realised that he still had it in his hands, something which could of been taken the wrong way by Lauren or a passing Professor.

"Practice," she questioned aloud.
Her blue eyes followed his hand as he placed his wand back into his pocket. She'd yet to notice he still had it, but it was probably smart that he put it away. Lauren truly doubted he'd throw a hex her way and sixth year or not, she was too confident for her own good and felt she could probably take him.
"Practice for what," she followed up her first remark.

"Well I been thinking bout trying out for a beater position on the Quidditch team, and plus in Summer I play baseball for a team in Australia"
He said with a grin, he had seen her eyes follow his movements and wondered whether it wise to be telling her all this.

Lauren nodded. She figured he was a beater, and again was glad she was no longer a part of the team. Against him, she'd probably loose a few brain cells and teeth. She'd be nice and safe in the stands, where she belonged.
Lauren knew all about baseball. Her father, though a larger fan of basketball, loved baseball. He made Lauren watch it around dinnertime, since he insisted she get in touch with her muggle side of the family. Lauren always said, than why do you have a thing for witches? Still, Lauren knew the sport. As a child, she went through countless summers of t-ball games. It was fun, for a six year old.
"Oh really?" She asked, less than enthusiastically. "What position do you play?"

"As in baseball, I tend to float between 2nd base and the outfield, depends on if we need speed in the outfield I guess"
He replied sensing her less than enthusiastic reply
(Sorry bout the lame post, kinda tired and pissed off)

((aww, -throws coffee in your face- wake up!))
Lauren only nodded,
"I see. I played catcher when I was younger," she admitted. Not too many people knew she played, but she only thought who was he honestly going to strike up a conversation with regarding what position in baseball she played. Some may not even know what the heck baseball was.
Granted she nearly drowned in all the gear they put on her, but she was young.
