Rolling her soft brown eyes at him, she she did her best not to smile, trying to keep the taste as minimal as possible. The lioness had read his articles he'd submitted before, as well as having helped him a little with homework now and again when she could, he was a fine writer.
"I bet it's pretty good," she told him. "Especially since I know you're a good writer." The point was he tried, which was the best part in her mind. At least he didn't just give up on it just because, but he actually tried and put for the effort which was more than pleasing to the blonde.
"Yes," she answered with a small nod of her head. The ice wasn't so cold through the bandage, and her wrist already felt better being in one, though she wasn't sure if this was just do to the fact it was done or if it really did feel better.
"Thank you for helping me."

Drew wasn't sure it was within his rights anymore to claim that it was part of his job, so a lopsided smile and a small shrug were his only reponse to her thanks. Hopefully she knew that he was always willing to lend her a proverbial hand, even if it was just a friend.
"Would you look it over anyway?" he asked of his article, still not confident of his abilities. He knew the paper meant a lot to her, so if he really sucked, she'd tell him.

"Of course," she answered with a small laugh. It was part of her job as editor to look over the articles anyway, and keep an eye on all of them. Usually, she read each one at least three times a week right up until the night it was to be printed. That was how it'd been going since the start of it anyway.
"You did the Quidditch one, right?" she asked for confirmation, unable to remember if that was what he'd picked up or not. Her staff members were switching jobs around left and right and she couldn't hardly keep track of them all, though she didn't find it that hard to do. It was just confusing at times when she thought one person was doing something only to find out that wasn't the case anymore.

"Quidditch, yeah," Drew answered, doing pretty well at hiding his disappointment over the fact that she didn't know exactly what article he was in charge of. She had dozens of articles to keep track of, he chidded himself. She really couldn't be expected to remember exactly what he was supposed to do each month, could she?
"I'm still working on the one with Chad... Mr. Embers," he told her, feeling like interviews were his weak spot. It should have been easier, considering the guy was dating Allegra, but for Drew, that just seemed to make it harder to approach the guy.

It wasn't that she didn't know what article he was in charge of, but her mind was still trying to match faces with article changes. He had been in charge on one, but changed opted to change it because he didn't think he was very good at interviews, though he had been on the one with her for Raynor. Actually, he had kind of scared her a bit with that. Showing up for the interview dressed as he had been, and then conducting a somewhat laid-back behaviour. No, it wasn't the worst thing in the world, though she hadn't expected all of it.
Raising a blonde eyebrow at him, she smirked a little, finding it didn't hurt as much as a full-blown smile did. Of course, he'd told her his sister and the new Quidditch Referee were dating, but she hadn't thought much about it, other than she hoped the two were happy, wherever their relationship went.
"Chad?" she asked teasingly. "Since when do you call the staff members by their first names?" It was a well enough known fact that he held high respect for the staff members, and she didn't really mind what he'd called him. Perhaps Mr. Embers had requested him to call him by Chad, for a number of reasons.

"Since he started snogging my sister," Drew answered seriously, looking over his article again with the intensity of someone who had just mentioned the mild weather they had been having. He usually did show the upmost respect for the staff, would never dream of calling Raynor by her first name (didn't even dare refer to her without her title, to her face), but the new quidditch ref was different: younger, cooler, and yeah, dating Allegra. He had asked Drew to call him Chad, but Drew didn't do it often.

Wrinkling her nose at him, she wasn't fond of his word choice. It was just so blunt, nothing wrong with it, but she preferred his term of "kissing on". Kissing on meant so much less than snogging did, and it sounded more appropriate. Even more so would've been dating, which they were. And just how did he know they were doing that? Perhaps they weren't.
"You shouldn't say that," she told him, rolling her eyes in jest. It was nowhere near as bad as some choice words, but she still thought it was blunt. Actually, it was what Cherry had accused her of doing after she returned home from the Yule Festival, after Drew had left. And while it was rather true, that was what they'd been doing, she hadn't told Cherry it. Though, because of her inability to lie very well, her dear cousin had known the truth easily.
"You could just say dating," she continued, feeling her lip break again when she smiled.

"Why not?" Drew asked, looking up at her puzzled, wondering if he had missed a rude connotation of the word. Of course, it wasn't as sweet as just plain kissing, but that had kind of been the point.
Maybe it was one of those words she didn't like, and while part of Drew felt like she had no right to tell him what he could and could not say anymore, the bigger part knew that if she didn't like it, he'd strike it from his vocabulary just to please her.

"Ow..." she said as under her breath as she could before applying even more pressure to her lip. Smiling was going to have to be crossed off of her list that day, anything to keep from having to taste any bit of blood.
"Well, have you asked either if they were doing that?" she inquired seriously, not sure why he hadn't seemed to catch onto her slight tease. "What if they aren't? And there are nicer ways of saying it. You could just say kissing, or dating, or courting."
And then another thought struck. "You didn't go around telling people we snogged, did you?" She didn't mind if he told someone they'd kissed, but definitely not that they'd had a snog fest or a few. It really didn't sound good, for either of them.

He winced again as her lip continued to bother her, but he wasn't sure what else he could do for her there. "Here, use this," he offered, handing her the ice pack after wrapping it in some gauze this time. At least they could keep the swelling down.
"I actually did ask and my sister says they have," Drew answered. It was really the only thing Drew had against the quiddicth ref, but apparently the kissing had not come soon enough for Allegra.
"I told my sister," Drew answered the second part carefully, hoping she didn't think he went around doing the kiss and tell. It wasn't like that at all. Allegra had asked if he had kissed Felicity and he had answered yes, that was it. "But... no, I didn't actually use the term snog."

Taking the ice from him, she very gently placed it on her lip and eased it to a slight pressure. Pressure was making it not hurt quite as badly, but it also made it harder to talk properly. And with the ice now there, she knew she was going to be even more mumbly than she already was. Well, she figured she could just remove the pack before speaking to him, if she remembered to.
"Allegra actually told you they were snogging?" she asked in a bit of disbelief. No, she didn't know his sister, had really only met her once under odd circumstances and seen her briefly through the corridors and in the Great Hall, but for her to tell him outright they were snogging? That was what was a bit unbelievable. Perhaps kissing, that's what she'd told Cherry, but definitely not snogging.
And at his answer, her light brown eyes widened in more dibelief? He told his sister? ...Oh wait, he hadn't said snogging, which was a relief in itself. "You didn't?" she asked, sounding relieved. "Well, can I ask why not?"
Her own words were chosen carefully, as well as the way she said it. She was curious why he hadn't said they'd snogged, yet felt perfectly fine saying his sister and the Referee had to her.

"No, but she told me that he had kissed her," Drew answered, feeling a little like he was being lectured to. He understood her point, but that didn't mean he had to really agree with it.
Why not? That was an easy answer for him, but not one he was sure she'd understand. He loved his sister and wouldn't want rumors getting around about her, so he didn't phrase things like that to just anyone. Plus, he always said it was Chad snogging her, not Allegra actually doing any of the snogging. A fine distinction, but still.
"Because I don't want to be rude to you," he told Felicity, trying to smile, but still feeling like she wouldn't understand him. "I really don't mind if I'm rude to him so much."

"You do realize there's a difference between snogging and just kissing, right?" she asked him, half serious, half teasing. At least, her terminology of it was different than just kissing. There'd been a word Cherry had used before that meant the same thing as snogging, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what that word was. She said it was all the rage to say. Much more 'in' than snogging. Leave it to Cherry to be up-to-date on the slang of the present.
Felicity didn't feel like she was lecturing, rather she felt as though they were having a pleasant conversation that would likely turn disasterous as did most of their conversations.
It was hard to force herself not to smile at his answer. Because he didn't want to be rude. It was an adorable answer, and she had to catch herself before she said it. Was she allowed to say it now that she wasn't supposed to be chasing him? While she'd said he was adorable before she'd realized she liked him, was it different now?
"By saying it of him though, you're indirectly saying it of your sister as well. It does take two to tango, love." So it slipped out before she was able to catch herself. But she called Celina love all the time, so maybe he wouldn't think too much of it. And she still did love him, too.

He thought a lot of that word, always had when she said it to him. He knew she used the term on other people, but he always liked to pretend it meant more when she said it to him. But this time, instead of making his heart soar, he felt it cut.
"Yeah," he answered shortly, not particularly caring for this conversation to begin with and liking it even less now. He bent his head, busying himself with putting the first aid kit back together so he wouldn't have to look at her.
"I was noticing we were running low on ink," he said, hoping the obvious change of subject would fix the situation.

Felicity didn't care for his sudden attitude, or his slight snapping. There hadn't been reason for it as far as she was concerned. He was still one of her friends, or was supposedly supposed to be, and she had only been teasing him and hadn't meant to say what she did. But even then, she called her friends love, or a few of them she did, so really what was the difference? Other than they weren't dating anymore?
And the change in subject? Rolling her eyes, mainly because he wasn't looking at her, she pulled her feet up on the chair with her, and turned her head away from him. Had it been Corey who changed the subject, she would've answered his topic change and then pressed on with the previous topic, but Drew wan't Corey and didn't seem to get her as well at times like these.
Huffing a loud sigh, she turned back to look at him. "What did I do now?"
