None of it had felt like a tease to him and while he had tried to lighten it up with his small jab at Chad, it had still felt like she was lecturing him on his terminology.
Her huffing made it clear that she didn't care for his change of topic, but he wasn't going to go back to the snogging question. He just had a feeling like it would go directions he didn't want to go. "You let the ink run low," he answered, looking up at her with a straight face. "Well, we all did. But I filled out an order form and put it on your desk."

Glaring at him, not enjoying that he was trying to make her smile, if that was even what it was, or the fact that she knew he knew what she'd meant and he'd blatantly ignored it. Fine, he wanted to be that way not go about things his usually way. He was constantly asking her what he'd done wrong, and when she asked, he changed the subject like she did. Fine.
Getting up from the chair, she walked over to her desk and attempted to pick up the form with her hand that was wrapped. As long as she had some reason to get out of that room, she'd take it. And taking the order form down to Professor van Aller was reason enough to leave his company.
He got mad at her, and he was the one who wanted to talk about things, and then when she made an attempt to, she got shot down. Absolutely fine.
However, she couldn't get a good enough grasp on the form to lift it from her desk.

She was stomping around, not answering him, obviously not happy with his attitude. So he always had to be ready to talk when she was? Double standard much?
But being negative wasn't going to fix anything and he knew that. He still wanted to be with her. He had come to the office with the hope of spending time with her. He wasn't going to blow it if he could at all help it.
"I'm sorry," he said with a sigh, hoping she'd forgive him for snapping at her. "I get what you mean by the snogging. I just don't want to be lectured about it."

At least when she didn't want to talk about something, she told him, either outright or by saying she wasn't ready. And yet, sometimes she still felt pressed to do so. Maybe she was taking it too much to heart, but that was how she felt. And it was harder when her heart was already in pieces over what she'd done.
"I wasn't lecturing you," she told him, turning around to face him and perhaps a bit too quickly. Her injured hand went down on the desk to stop her from going any further without any other thought of it.
A wince of pain crossed her face and she bit down on her lip, which only made her lip more sore. This was truly turning out to be not her month. Sucking in another sharp breath, she she fought back the tears that formed from the pain shooting through her arm and lower lip. Not a good month, or day.
"I was just teasing you a bit," she continued, trying to act as though she wasn't feeling anything.

He saw her hand come down on the desk and jumped up and ran to her, knowing it had to hurt. "Be careful!" he warned her, reaching out to hug her, but holding back, not sure he still could. He had no problem hugging his girl friends, at least not until Felicity had gotten mad at him for hugging Celina, so he wasn't sure what the rule on that one was.
"It just didn't feel like teasing," he told her, wondering if he was just being overly sensitive. Probably. With that, he decided to go ahead and hug her, thinking it was what felt right to him. She had liked him best in the beginning when he wasn't overthinking things, so maybe she'd like him again if he went back to that. "I'm sorry I took it badly. I get what you're saying about the snogging though."

Be careful!
As though she didn't know she had to be. It really had hurt when she used her hand to catch her, and while she knew it was sore, she hadn't expected it to hurt as badly as it did. Although, she didn't know if perhaps the reason it seemed to hurt as bad as it did was because she bit down on her lip, again. It was possible the pain was so much more because of her lip, and because of the more than disgusting taste in her mouth.
Fighting back the small tears that rose due to pain, she hadn't caught his first movement to hug her, had only noticed he'd moved closer.
"Well, I'm sorry, but that's all I was doing," she answered him quickly and softly. Suddenly, before she really knew what was going on, she was back in his arms, and that's where it felt like she belonged. But she knew she couldn't latch onto that feeling, not when they were no longer dating.
Swiftly bringing the bit of gauze in her hand up to her lip so she wouldn't get any blood on her favourite of his sweaters, she instinctively laid her head against his chest, trying to ignore the last bits of pain still running the length of her arm. "Do you forgive me?" she asked quietly. Best to make sure that he did.

Well, of course it had been a stupid thing to say, but it had come out instinctively and he almost snapped back at her for her response that he had just been worried about her. He was still allowed to do that right?
But then she was snuggled in his arms again, leaning against his chest, right where he felt she belonged the most. Over the previous couple of days he had done a lot of thinking (crying, yelling, kicking, sleeping) and had come to the conclusion that he could lose everything he had with her as long as he got to keep this one thing. He could deal with any arrangement she wanted as long as she'd lean her head against him and let him put his arms around her.
Her question made him pause. Two days ago, the answer would have been a quick and absolute "Yes," no questions asked. But today, it seemed like it needed more clarification. After all, a lot had happened and no, he wasn't sure he was ready to fogive it all yet... he wasn't sure she was ready to accept his forgiveness.
"Forgive you for what?" he asked softly, hoping it would be something that didn't require more clarification. Asking his stupid questions got him in trouble.

Two days ago, Felicity was wondering if she was ever going to feel whole again. Two days ago, she was asking herself how she was ever going to get him to understand and forgive her for doing what she felt was best even if he didn't see it that way. Two days ago, she could hardly breathe. But today, she was feeling better until she took her tumble. Today, she was able to breathe without every breath hurting. Today, her heart didn't feel missing.
"For making you mad just now," she answered. Doubt shadowed her mind on whether he forgave her for hurting him. The answer to that was clear in her mind, it was in his eyes, he was still hurting. How could someone forgive another when they were still hurting? If they could, they had a lot more than she knew she did. Felicity couldn't even forgive herself for doing what she deemed felt right.
Lifting her head from his chest, she looked up at him. Already she knew there were so many things he'd be able to read in her eyes if he chose to, but those weren't things she was asking or telling him. Those were the things that were for him to read at his leisure. Those were the things she couldn't say, because there were no words for those things.

He wasn't about to do any reading into anything for a very long time. Looking too deeply into those brown eyes hurt too much. Besides, he knew he usually got things all wrong and ended up making a bigger mess of things by acting on what he thought was going on. He wasn't about to do that now, when he had spent the last two days sorting things out. The conclusions he had made were probably not 100 percent accurate, but they were allowing him to function and he didn't want anything to jepordize that.
Because, yes, he was still hurting and he had to occasionally remind himself that she was right. He saw now that the break was for the best.
"You didn't make me mad," he told her, figuring she was talking about the whole snogging issue. He hadn't been mad. He had just wanted her to stop picking at it.

It sounded like he'd been mad, he even snapped at her just a little bit, or she thought he had, which had led her to conclude he was mad. Maybe she was just doing the whole reading into it all too much. It was possible, after all, she wanted to be careful around him, wanted to be his friend, didn't want to mess things up worse than she had. But maybe over-thinking things was bad, too.
"I'm still sorry," she answered, leaning her head back against him. Maybe he didn't realize he was mad...no, that was thinking about it too much again. But she was sorry, she hadn't meant to make him thinking anything other than what she was doing, which was teasing. Maybe she wasn't allowed to tease him right now? But if that was the case, then why was she allowed to be in his arms?
On the other hand, being where she was felt so right, she couldn't pull away, not yet. And even if it would hurt more to pull away in a minute, she wanted to stay there, as long as she could, even if it wasn't possible. "Did you still want me to look at your article?"

The snogging conversation hadn't sounded like teasing to him. It had sounded like she had been trying to drive a point home and he had just wanted her to drop it. Then again, snogging her probably wasn't a subject he was ready to be teased about.
She hadn't moved much, had actually leaned back into him, but he didn't think much about it. He didn't want her to move, but he wasn't going to start kidding himself into believing it was anything more than a hug. "When you have time," he told her, making no move to let her go.

Nodding against him, she stayed where she was. Why did it feel right to be in his arms, but not to date him right now? Felicity couldn't think of a reason, but she knew even if she could, it wasn't going to make any more sense than breaking up with him had to him. She loved him, and yet she didn't feel right dating him. Made a lot of sense, it did. Then again, what had really made sense to both of them?
"I have time today," she told him. "Right now" was what she was going to say, but she changed it. If she said right now, he would probably think she wanted away from him. And maybe only a minute before she had wanted to get away from him, but not when she was wrapped into him she didn't.

"All right," Drew answered softly, noticing she hadn't made a move to do it immediately, but reminding himself it didn't mean anything. It was just a hug and that's all he wanted. That was all he needed.
But the longer she stayed in his arms, the more he couldn't help but wonder why she hadn't moved. He didn't want her to move... he would be happy staying just like that for the rest of the day if she was up for it. But why hadn't she broken away from him?
"Maybe you can help me think of a title," he finally said, forcing himself not to think about hugging her anymore. He wasn't very confident of his writing ability, but coming up with titles was the worst for him.

"Mmhmm," she hummed in agreement. It was warm where she was, it made her stop thinking about her lip and her arm, and it just felt so right. On the other hand, she was surprised he had his arms around her. Probably a simple title would work, she didn't know if her mind would be able to come up with anything other than something easy and quick.
"I could look at it now, if you wanted," she told him. No, she didn't want to leave his grip, reason why she didn't just back out of it to grab his article. If he wanted her to look at it right then, he would tell her. After all, there was no reason why he should feel like she should stay in his arms, she was the one who broke up with him. In fact, she actually thought about tagging on "or not", but it just didn't feel right to say that.

"When you have time," he repeated, letting himself believe for a moment that she actually wanted to stay there in his arms. Otherwise she would have gotten his article, wouldn't she? Her question could have implied that she wanted him to let go, but she had said if he wanted... and he didn't want. Besides, it didn't matter what he wanted. If he got what he wanted, he woulnd't have to wonder about why she was still in his arms.
Was he thinking about it too much? Probably, but he didn't care. This was all about what she wanted. For the moment, he had everything he wanted.
