{This is for any fourth year and above who has ALREADY taken at LEAST one year of Arithmancy. If you have not, you will need to join the beginning class.}
It was a warm and sunny September afternoon and while all participants would probably rather be spending the next hour out on the grounds, teacher and students alike were required to be in the classroom. The door was open and inviting the students in as best as it could, a calm breeze drifting through the open windows. The students that were expected should know the basics, but of course a bit of review would be in order for this first day. As the Intermediate Arithmancers entered, they would find Becca at her desk, feet propped up and her nose in a book, apparently unaware of anyone entering.

Jax was stoked. This was actually a class where, even though most of the times the numbers ended up jumbled or she couldn't quite get meanings of the numbers straight, she really liked. Especially, since most of the time it was one on one with her and Daven...who the heck was this chick? Another sat in one of the seats that Jax recognized in a bit as Tianne from her house. Not only the prefect, but one of the quidditch players. Jax pouted just slightly, for just as she had had none of her friends in Muggle Studies, they weren't in Arithmancy either...and really, she was looking forward to a more discussion type of thing rather than an actual class. Did that mean that it was going to be boring now? Jax pouted a bit more hoping not.
Walking in, she took a seat nearest to the professor and smiled brightly through her pout, though her brilliant blue eyes showed of some distress. "Hey, professor!" she exclaimed and swayed just a bit in her chair. "I was thinking about all this number stuff over summer....well, not a lot, but a little, and I was thinking that maybe...we could maybe go over what the difference is between these..." Jax pulled out a book she had gotten out on the subject from the library and showed the diagrams listed to the professor.
"The....Chaldean Method and the Agrippan Method....cause I know we've been using the Pythagorean System and that seems just like the agrippan chart...but I don't get it...." Jax pulled the book back slightly to read some more of it and her eyes lit up. Someday these numbers would mean something to her and show her something...she just knew it...

Time for Arithmancy class. This wasn't one of Kari's favorite classes but it wasn't her worst either. But since this was OWL year, she was really going to have to know her stuff if she wanted to pass, what fun. Based on what other upperclassmen were saying, the OWLs didn't sound like anything you could just sleep off. Guess it was time to spend a little time in the library. Then again, if she didn't pass this test then that would be one less class to take next year. But that was still not a good excuse.
Climbing down the steps from Gryffindor tower, Kari took her time knowing she wasn't going to be late. Besides, the girl was too tired to start running around. Guess that's what you get from staying up late reading a novel but Kari just couldn't put it down. Course it was a bit awkward that morning when one of her den mates found her leaning off the bed with a wand in one hand and a book on the floor. Entering the classroom, Kari took a seat and just stared off into space.

The bell rang and right on cue, Becca snapped her book shut and looked up at her class from over her glasses. With a smile, she noticed that it was more than just her and Miss Chaput this time around. While she had enjoyed the one-on-one studying with the Ravenclaw, it would be nice to get some conversation going.
And already, the petite blonde had some questions, obviously having done some extra work over the summer. The news pleased the professor and she smiled at the question. The answer spurned many debates in the world of Arithmancy. "Well, technically, it should be called the Agrippan method since he invented it," she explained. "Why it got hooked up with Pythagoras is most likely due to the fact that he was the first to discover the magical properties of numbers in general. He did connect them to letters, but of course, that was Greek and we use the Latin alphabet. So I suppose it was because Pythagoras came up with the concept, but it was Agrippa who modernized it to the method we use today."
It was most likely time to get the class started anyway so she smiled at the other two. "Welcome to Intermediate Arithmancy." she started, looking at her small class. "If you are in here, you have passed the Basic class and are working towards your OWL. So before we start, any other questions we need to discuss or insights we want to share?"
