Jax was unique and not like any of the other girls on campus from what she had witnessed. She was alone in that matter...and she only cared...every other day. But she didn't let it get her down. She was determined that this year she would take a date to the Halloween dance. The problem was finding someone who accepted her for who she was...and wasn't a guy. She was bored with hanging out all the time with the guys. Bored with the same old, same old. She was bound to make a friend that was a girl that would go to the dance with her...yes, a friend that was a girl who would go to the dance. That was all she wanted...wasn't it? She took her cap out of her bag and replaced it on top of her head. Her hair spiked in the back as usual was pushed down as she did such and she decided that now was the time to find someone to go to the dance with her....or at least find someone who could help her find someone to go with her. Now she wondered to herself. Who would go with her and have a good time? "This year, it's going to be different. I'm going to find someone to go to the dance with." She said out loud, trying to convince herself of the situation at hand. ((Open))

"What dance?" came a reply not far behind the girl. Felicity had just been heading down to the library when she'd gotten side-tracked after she thought she'd seen the tail of her squirrel head off in the direction to the left of the stairwell. Unfortunately, she hadn't caught sight of him again and was basically wandering down the corridor hoping for at least a glance.
Rather than the grey stealer of her heart, the blond found one of her classmates. The one from her Muggle Studies class, but what was her name? The Gryffindor racked her mind in search of it, she knew it was there somewhere, but what was it? This was the second time she'd forgotten the name of someone, she wasn't doing so well.
"Are you talking about the Halloween one?" she inquired carefully looking beyond the girl for any sight of a bushy tail.

Jax gasped as a the blond Gryffindor, Felicity, walked up behind her. Holding her chest and turning around she stretched trying to hide the fact that she had been scared at all. "Yea, that's the one." Checking out the blond, Jax was starting to think that going with any girl would be better than no girl at all, and the girl in front of her, made up right, wouldn't look to bad by her side. Not to mention, she was also older and it would be something to brag about to friends back home to say she took an older classmate to the Halloween Dance.
She put her hands in her pockets and stuck out her chest. The uniform she wore, swayed swiftly at her knees and the tie she wore was straight as a button. All fell right into place, and that day she was glad that she had gotten dressed up as well as she did. "So, what'cha up to?" Jax asked the blond.

"Oh," she replied interested, but only slightly. The poor girl was more interested in finding her darn squirrel than going to the dance. More because Drew hadn't said anything about it, but also because if she went, she knew it'd probably be because of the paper over anything else, unless she did go with someone, which was doubtful. No matter, she'd have a good time either way.
"I'm just looking for something I lost," she replied, finally turning her gaze back on the other blond. "But I think it got away yet again, no matter, I'll find him some other time." Taking just one more look down the corridor, she frowned a little. It was going to be hard to find him if he kept disappearing like he did.
"Do you not have anyone to go to the dance with?" she inquired. It was kind of sad if she didn't, the girl seemed like a nice person to her. She should have a date, in fact she deserved to have one.

I'll find him some other time.
She was looking for a guy that she had lost down the hall. Oh, that figures, the young raven thought to herself as she looked away slightly trying to figure out how and what next to say. "Pssh, How could you lose him down the hall?" she asked the older girl almost shocked. The hall was straight, and she hadn't seen anyone else there. She almost wondered if Felicity was a little not right in the head.
Coming back to the conversation at hand, the girl was asking her if she had anyone to go with. She was asking Jax. Felicity was asking Jax if she wasn't going with anyone. Her heart fluttered a bit as she fidgited where she stood. "Uh...I mean....ummm....no, that is I haven't found anyone yet.....to....uh go with me." Instant bashfulness took the girl by the throat and a shade of pink crossed her cheeks. "How 'bout you? What are you doing for the dance?"
Her eyes started to sparkle as the conversation got deep really quick. She hadn't expected on talking so soon with anyone about this, but in a way she was glad, and couldn't wait to get the asking over with.

"Well, he's kind of little and really fast," she replied not noticing the other girl thought she was speaking of a human being. "It happens all the time, I get this close," she put her hands up in gesture. "And he always gets away." And that was more than truth. Something always happened that made her lose her fiend. The squirrel was going to be caught, the day was just around the corner, she could feel it. "I wasn't really that close today, but I'm pretty sure I saw him go down the corridor."
Her brown eyes trained back on the girl, she smiled slightly and shook her head in answer. "I don't have anyone to go with, and I'm not really sure what I'm doing for it. I thought about asking Celina, she's in your House but I don't know if you know her or not," she replied, forgetting that they'd spoken to each other in the Great Hall that one time. "If she wanted to go because I don't really want to go alone, but I haven't had the chance to ask, but I'm probably going to be covering it for the paper so I don't think she'd really want to go since I'll be lugging around paper and writing notes down."
Felicity frowned slightly, it even sounded pathetic to her. But if she didn't have anyone to go with, or even if she did, she'd be doing stuff for the paper. However, if she did go with Drew someone she'd make sure to keep the paper at a minimum nuisance.

He's little and fast? A first year? Jax eyes widened slightly as she talked about the guy she was after. "Well, I didn't see anyone that fit that description in this hallway." She was surprised that the girl had been chasing him for a while it seemed. She probably scared him off, she thought as she spoke, "Did you ever think of a more...subtle approach?" Jax had no idea what that could be, but chasing him probably wasn't working if the guy had been avoiding her every time.
As the girl started to speak about Celina Jedynak, Jax mouth slightly dropped. She was going to ask Celina? Should I tell her that she's been all over West from the quidditch team? Jax thought to herself about the last times she had seen the beautiful Ravenclaw girl of her dreams. At the dinner, her and Oliver were together talking and Jax distinctly remembered Celina tugging at his jacket. Others may have missed it, but Jax surely remembered it. The icing on the cake however, was seeing her at the Quidditch game, in the locker room no less, sitting next to West and talking to him, and giggling. She shook her head, she defiantly remembered giggling. She sighed and decided not to break the news to the older girl. Maybe if she was skilled, she could get this girl to stop worrying about the first year and the fifth year, and think about taking a third year instead.
"I'm sure there is someone willing to go to the dance with you," I would be, just give me a second to breath before I ask you. She breathed lightly, and tried to, but it didn't come. Not yet, she wasn't ready. Neither was. "I mean, you're really pretty, who wouldn't want to go with you?" Jax smiled and moved closer to the girl, closing the gap that was still formed between them.

"Well, mostly I've just chased him, because that seems to work best, but I did try feeding him once and nothing happened. I don't think he enjoys brussle sprouts very much." The Gryffindor frowned once more, there had to be someway of catching him. And wouldn't it be grande if she caught him before winter set in? That would be really nice, then she'd have winter break to train him a bit before everyone returned to the school for the spring part of term.
A light colouring touched her cheeks when the girl called her pretty. Another compliment and once more she didn't mind too much. The first had been from Drew, and that was merely becuase he was comparing her to his grandmum, but this one had no comparison said aloud. "Awww, thanks," she replied carefully. "But the only person I've really thought about going with, and hoped would ask me, hasn't even mentioned it. So that's why I was thinking of Celina. That way I could have fun and not have to worry about messing anything up. Celina is really awesome like that, she understands whereas some people don't."
It was true, she didn't think Drew always really understood, but they were working on that. Slowly, but it was happening, which was really nice because it meant she got to spend more time with the Ravenboy, and of course that was always a plus. "But I'm really surprised no one has asked you to go, you're really pretty too. And pretty smart," she added. The girl had shown that in their class on more than one occasion.

"Brussle sprouts? Everyone knows the way to a man's heart is with good food. Not disgusting food. You probably turned him so off, you'll have almost no luck getting him," Jax gaged at the mention of the green mini-cabage like vegetable. That was the worst way to a man's heart. Her father had told her so.
As her compliment was given. the older blond's face colored and then so did Jax. She was almost ready...she could feel her courage building to ask her completely. But as soon as she opened her mouth to speak and ask Felicity to the dance, Felicity started yet again speaking about Celina. It seemed as if she was just as hooked on the girl as Jax herself was. Two peas in a pod, Jax thought to herself about her and the older blond. "I actually think she maybe going with someone," Jax said sadly. Both girls seemed to be up a creek without a paddle on that one, the older Raven was into guys...and that's all that there was to it. But Jax did agree with her, even though her and the older Raven hadn't gotten along everytime they talked...she was a very understanding person when they did talk nicely. Other than that...she wasn't all that bad to look at either. No wonder the two blonds were so into her. Jax sighed.
As the Gryffindor continued, Jax was yet again blushing about how she was surprised that no one had asked her to the dance. She had also said that Jax was pretty, and her face looked down at the ground and she put her hands behind her back. "Aw, I don't know if I'm that pretty," the young girl said modestly. She wasn't going to deny the smart part though. She had her moments. "I'm looking though. For someone who is into me for me."

"A man's heart?" the blond asked a little confused. Who'd said anything about a man? "I'm not talking about a boy. I'm talking about a squirrel I've been after." Felicity quickly went back over everything she'd said on the topic, realizing she hadn't made mention of Sammy. "I'm sorry, I though I said I was after a squirrel. I tried feeding him brussle sprouts, because I didn't have anything else to give him and he didn't really seem to like them very much."
What Jax had to say next surprised her. Celina had a date and hadn't even told her? Now she would have to hunt her down and get it out of her who she was going with, maybe it was that boy she said she liked because he was like her. "I didn't know she was going with anyone," she replied, happy for her friend. "She hadn't said anything to me about it. Not when I've seen her or anything."
At least her friend would have someone to hang out with, and if anything went wrong, well Felicity would be there to help put a stop to it. "But you are very pretty," she assured the Ravengirl. And she really was, very much a cutie. "That's the only way to go, or so I've been told. You shouldn't like someone for being who they are not, and you shouldn't change yourself to better suit another. Just let things fall into place." Just like how she liked Drew, because of who he was, and he'd told her he liked her when she was being herself. Even with all of her faults, he seemed to like who she was. And she was thankful for that, because she liked who she was, and really liked him. "My sister told me that one time. And Drew kind of did too," she added with a small blush. It hadn't really been said outright, but he did elude to it.

"A squirrel? I don't even want to ask," the young raven shook her head. Why would anyone chase a squirrel? Well, she supposed it was a little better than a poor first year. The girl was a bit out going, and Jax figured that the first years she knew would be totally intimidated. She snickered a bit and then the conversation moved forward.
Felicity started talking again about Celina. And she genuinely sounded happy for the older raven girl, however, there was still that touch of sadness that came from not knowing. Jax felt that, but at the same time she had said that she thought she was...she really didn't know. After seeing West with Celina, Jax made sure to block their conversations that she heard out. She didn't want to hear Celina saying anything mushy to a guy that was a year older than her. Ew....that would have been gross. "I'm not sure. I think she is...but don't quote me on that one."
Then it killed her. Felicity brought a familiar name into the conversation and it was a boy's name. "Drew....as in Thornton?" Felicity had blushed at the mention of him and Jax heart sank a bit. She was into a guy....figures. "Drew told you that? How come??" She had to make sure. If she did, then it was all over and Jax would have the reason not to ask her to the dance. Though, a smile crossed her face at the prospect of beating the Ravenclaw Prefect to the punch.
If she asked Felicity to the dance....and she said yes....she'd have one up on Drew......she'd be going to the dance with a pretty girl that should have gone with a Prefect. The smile quickly vanished thought as she remembered how good of a beater Drew was, and how well a quidditch game wouldn't go if she was the target of friendly fire...no, maybe that was a bad idea all together. Clearing her throat she tried to speak, "So, are you guys together or something?"

Felicity was pretty sure Celina would have a date, why wouldn't she? She was an angle of a person, and she really should have a date. Especially someone that sounded as nice as that one boy she was telling the Lioness about. Nodding vigorously in response, she smiled slightly. "Yes, Thornton," she voiced before sighing a little about having to think about how to explain why he'd kind of somewhat told her that. "Well, we got into a little spat and basically he told me to just be myself because he liked it when I was."
It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't exactly the full truth either. He'd just told her he liked her before that morning, then again he seemed to like her after too since they'd talked things through.
"Together?" she asked. Were they? Shaking her head slightly after a long moments pause, she decided they really weren't. He hadn't asked her out, and she hadn't asked him, and he's said he needed time before he was ready for anyone. Yes they were allowed to hold hands and hug, but nothing had been said about actually being together. "No, we're not together," she said sounding a bit disappointed. It would have been nice if they were, but they weren't in all reality. Though had the question been worded a little differently she would have said she was waiting for him to say something about it, because if he did, her answer would have been a gleeful yes.

Jax tried to keep the smile appearing on her lips under control. Sure, she talked of the boy, and one could tell that she had some sort of feelings for him, but for all Jax knew, they were friends and nothing more. Maybe asking her then wouldn't get her hit in the head with a bludger.
"Yea, Drew's a nice guy, but I think guys are sometimes over rated to be with." It was the first time she had alluded to anything of who she was or was attracted to. But she felt as if for some reason, this could be her break that she was looking for. She didn't know why...but at the same time, what she didn't know was that hope was sometimes blinding. The poor young raven would never know but always expect a person to say no. However, Jax had hope this time. Pure hope that she was on top of this game and whoever was slacking in asking the pretty blond out, were not going to be as lucky when they did ask her. Jax would make sure of that.
But not yet. Not just yet. "How are you going to write the article for the paper if you're dancing?" she asked the girl curiously.

Nodding, she agreed. Drew was a very nice boy, but she wasn't sure she fully understood the younger girl's next statement. Perhaps she'd meant to begin with, rather than to be with. Deciding that must have been it, she shrugged. Boys were difficult creatures, but soem of them, like Drew, were worth the hassle. Or at least she thought so.
"Boys are sometime overrated, but it really depends on the boy. Just like with anything, it really depends on willingness and interests. On both parties," she said. Felicity didn't really know what else to say.
"I don't think I'll get much dancing in, but I only planned on jotting down a few notes. Basically some interesting costumes, maybe a few of 'who showed with who', and if anything else really happened, which she doubted. That left plenty of time to dance and socialize. "Besides, if I don't have anyone to go with, there really aren't a whole lot of options for dancing, at least not with a partner. I'll probably just jump in somewhere and dance by myself, if I'm lucky someone will join."
The blond knew quite a few people, so she didn't think she'd be too lonely.

Jax had to refrain from sticking her tougne out. Willingness and interests? Maybe for friends, but when it came to being with a guy...Jax decided she'd pass. "I don't know, I think sometimes you have to try the greener grass on the other side of the fence." Jax moved in even closer to Felicity and leaned against the wall right next to the Gryffindor girl. As she neared her, she could smell the vanillia scent from the shampoo that the girl must have used the last time she had washed her hair, and it was almost intoxicating to the young Raven. If she hadn't been leaning against the wall, she felt as if her knees were going to give out from under her.
"Well, I only ask about the dancing because....umm....." she could almost do it. It was on the tip of her tougne. "Well, ya know. I mean...we could go together." The Raven had done it. She had, for the first time in her life, asked a girl out. It sounded more casual than what it would mean to Jax, but barely knowing the girl, she figured that was for the best. After all, she was sure that she was going to have a pretty blond at her side of the Halloween dance and how much better could that get? A smile creeped across the girl's face and it began to glow a nice crimson shade as she looked back at the older blond. "So, what do ya say? Be my date Felicity."
