The passion, that had taken up so much of her life, was now erupting from the cold, circle within Matty that had been corned off while she had gone through her tough times. Those things including some subjects, her wand practice, her owling, running, sketching and probably worst of all, she had been neglecting her friends a tad more than she had a reason fore. Sure, it was hard to see Verina, heck, Jack because they were both friends with Jynx, which of course was nothing wrong in Matty's opinion - it was definitely her own fault that this happened - but that didn't mean she didn't want to make things right again. That event with Jynx in the Hufflepuff Common Room had changed allot of things about the Fourth Years aspect on life. Her eyes were brighter, her spirit was lifted, her fires were burning, and her mind was thinking straight again. Maybe, just one day, Jynx and Matty could be considered friends again, but who was to say what happened. After all, thats how her flame for Leto had erupted. But thus, as the girl was now usually in a better, lighter mood, she had taken up her hobbies again. Yes, Matty had been considered going through a dark, moping mood when in her worst time, but that had all changed. Her happy, funky, cheery and brighter clothes had come out again, her hair colour had changed, and her eyes were no longer looking tired. Generally, this girl was healthier than she had been in a long time. Rather than wearing her once-favourite black skinny jeans, a shirt and a jacket, Matty had changed her attire dramatically. Today she wore a pair of pale though lime green skinny jeans, a white studded belt tilting on her slim hips, a pale blue short-sleeve Tee-shirt that had 'I Love Music' cast across it in scrawled writing, the 'love' presented as a love heart and a pair of eye-phones wrapping around the writing. On her feet were a pair of white, short cut all Stars and her hair was resting in a loose pony tail, tilting to the right side of her head. Her side fringe was pinned back onto the top of her head, keeping her golden brown hair from falling into her green eyes. You could say she was being a bit 'out there' but at the moment, nothing could ruin her mood. Resting on her legs, ones of which were arched to prop up, a sketch book with loads of random illustrations on the front was folded up to a white, rough side of a piece of paper. So far, on the paper, was an etching outline of the Forbidden forest, and the beginning of the Lake started to be sketched in. Matty had been drawing and sketching for a number of years, but it wasn't know to many people that she did so. At the moment, the Hufflepuff was leaned up against the wall of the Third Floor, her legs arched and her eyes darting from the large window opening the view to Hogwarts in front of her. So far, her day had been content, no drama's and such. She just wanted to get this picture done before the sun set too much for her too see what she was doing, another snowy afternoon wouldn't be like this again. [Open to anyone ]

Trying to become more aquinted with her surroundings, Vanessa wandered around the third floor. Dressed in comfy blue jeans and a yellow t-shirt. Dressed in comfy blue jeans and a yellow t-shirt, she suddenly thought that the hallway seemed familiar. Gathering that she had gotten herself lost, she saw a girl drawing deep in thought.
Vanessa was hesitant to interrupt someones concentration, but she decided that it was better than wandering around aimlessly not to mention she kind of looked familiar.
She walked up slowly as not to startle the busied girl and said to her in a quiet voice "Excuse me, I..I'm sorry to interrupt...but...I'm new here and I believed I got myself lost...When you have a free moment...could you please point me in the right direction?"
Suddenly she started to think that maybe she shouldn't have bothered her. She hoped that the girl wouldn't be annoyed with her intrusion.

Matty's mind didn't register the other girl coming down the corridor. She was indeed, lost in thought. The girl wanted to finish her picture, and for a very special reason - or rather a very special person - for his birthday. Some time in February, it was to Daniel's birthday, her dearest friend away from Hogwarts, and even if Matty couldn't see him for his Birthday, she could at least get him a good present for Christmas. The girl doubted her father and herself were going to spend a Christmas alone, they never did, and last year they had spent it with Jynx's family, but that wasn't going to happen this year. So Daniel's family it was.
As the girl politely interrupted Matty, the Fourth year looked up and smiled kindly. She didn't mind the slightest. "Oh that's okay." she said, placing down her pencil and putting it and her pad to the side of herself. Pushing herself up, with help from leaning on the wall, Matty stood up and looked down each way of the corridor. "This is the Third Corridor. Where abouts are you heading?" the girl asked. If she happened to be in any house but Hufflepuff the girl probably couldn't help her as to where she was going in the case of a Common Room, but other places in Hogwarts were fairly easy. Odds are this girl seemed to be new.

Relieved that the girl wasn't annoyed about the intrusion.
The fifth year said, "I was heading toward the Hufflepuff House." The fifth year was going to add, to grab her knitting, but decided that the girl wouldn't care to know the reason.
Nervously, she decided to introduce herself, "By the way, I'm Vanessa (as she held out her hand for the girl to shake) and as you probably guessed, I'm in Hufflepuff."
She paused for a moment and thought to herself, maybe I should have stuck to simple introductions...name only. It definitely best to make good impressions on people and make new friends.
After noticing the drawing and knowing it was better than anything she could do stated, "Wow, your drawing is really nice! Would it be alright if I could see it when you're finished?"

Matty could only manage to smile more when the girl replied with a relieved look on her face. The Fourth years green eyes studied her face, to try and register if she could recognise the girl, consider she was also in Hufflepuff. "Hufflepuff, eh? I guess it's your lucky day then, because I'm also in Hufflepuff." Matty shook Vanessa's hand, taking a slight mental note of the other Nessa she knew in the house. "Nice to meet you Vanessa, I'm Matty. Hufflepuff Fourth Year, what year are you in?" the girl asked, bringing her hand back to her pale, lime pocket of her skinny jeans. Glancing down to her picture, Matty blushed only the slightest as Vanessa noticed her work. She wasn't use to the compliments, but didn't shun it none the less. "Thanks, and sure! It's actually a present for a friend of mine at, I'm going to give it to him for Christmas." she added some background to her story. "It's not finished quite yet, but I'll be sure to get you in a look when it's done." she added with a reassuring smile at the girl.

Vanessa smiled at Matty and said "It's a pleasure to meet you!" she returned her hand to her side after the friendly handshake.
"I'm currently a fifth year...guess you could say I'm a late bloomer.", she said sheepishly in reply to Matty's question. She knew that perspective students usually received their invitations to attend Hogwarts before they started their first year. She was anxious with the thought that there was something wrong with her for not being invited sooner.
She noticed Matty blush when Vanessa complimented her on her artwork. She had to re-thought what she had said, to see if there was anything offensive, but couldn't think of any. She smiled when Matty said that she would be able to see it completed.
"I'm sure your friend will truly like a gift as nice as your drawing for Christmas." said the fifth year with a smile, trying to give the girl more confidence with another compliment.
"I can't wait to see it when it's completed!" Vanessa said with excitement and almost jumped for joy when Matty said she show it to her upon completion.

Matty grinned as Vanessa returned her 'pleasure to meet you' statement. It was always an awesome feeling to meet a new, nice person, heck, it was a bonus if they were in your house. Her green eyes rolled slightly as Vanessa sheepishly said she could be considered a late bloomer. "Nah, don't worry about it. Sometimes there are just - difficulties - in Hogwarts. A friend of mine started off as a Sixth Year, but then again his case might've been different to yours." the girl said with a small shrug, before picking up her artwork.
"I hope he does. I've known him all my life, but he lives in the Muggle world so, yeah. And I owe him that much for helping me through some rather tough times. And as long as I can come here a few more afternoons around the same time, then it'll be finished before I leave Hogwarts for the break." Matty answered truthfully. "But enough about me, where about are you from, Vanessa?" the girl asked curious, holding the drawing on her stomach and facing the girl.

At the word /muggle/ Vanessa had a look of shock to her face. She knew of them, but being naive, didn't realize how close one could be with them. Then she thought of her friend Tanya, could she be a muggle and never told me for she never received an invitation. But maybe her situation is different too and just haven't received it yet.
At Matty's question-Where are you from?
The fifth year became an open flood gate. "I'm from London, England and so was my father and Victor, my brother. My mother on the other hand was from somewhere in Ireland. Victor is 3 years younger than me and he can't wait until his invitation is sent and received. He jealous because my parents bought me an owl and I haven't even named it yet. And we...I..."
Vanessa stopped suddenly, her cheeks turned red from embarrassment, and suddenly realized that Matty only asked her where she was from. "...I..I'm sorry...I didn't...," she said and started to fidget with her front jean pockets. The fifth year then decided to try and salvage the conversation"Where are you from?"
She hoped that her house mate wouldn't be to critical at her ramblings. This was the first person who was having a conversation with her and now hoped that she wouldn't hold it against her.

Matty tucked her pad under her arm and shoved her hands into her jeans pockets. This was going to be interesting, Vanessa, in fact, sounded very interesting. Grinning, the Fourth year listened contently to the fifth year as she explained about her home. Another girl from England, huh? And London at that, this was getting off to be very handy. Noticing the girl's cheeks flash red, Matty shook her head slightly and kept up her friendly smile. "It's fine, I've been one to ramble myself, but it's nice to find out about your family." the Huffle stated in a honest tone, before her green eyes glanced over Vanessa's face for a moment.
"I'm from Old London. My mum and dad raised me there since I was born, and I live in an Oak Forest there. I'm on only child, and now I only live with my dad because my mum passed away when I was seven. I've been at Hogwarts since I was eleven and I plan to stay until my seventh year." she said in a proud tone, not even flinching at the mention of her mothers death, but having to pause for a moment as the time had come up where she did remember the phone call that had sent her life into crash mode.

(sorry about the delay)
Vanessa was glad that her ramblings weren't unwelcome and she could feel her cheeks begin to cool and she knew the redness was beginning to fade. She became excited and gave a big smile after she learned about the fourth year being from London as well.
When she heard that Matty's mum had died her once big smile quickly faded, she felt shocked and sadness for her new friend. "I'm sorry about your mum", she said in a caring tone of voice.
Both girls started to walk back to their house. Vanessa added, "What electives are you taking next term? Perhaps we'll be in the same class. I'm taking Care of Magical Creatures and Ancient Runes."

Matty shook her her head. "It's okay, I've had allot of help and support when it got to me to pull me through. It's easier to talk about it now, and get it out in the open. That way, it doesn't make other people uncomfortable if they think they have offended me by asking about her." the Fourth Year said in a kind tone, smiling at Vanessa, to reassure she was fine. As they continued to walk, Vanessa kept up the friendly conversation Matty was enjoying. "Really? I'm taking Care of Magical Creatures, Ancient Runes and Muggle Studies." she said, before pausing for a second before she added "I'm not sure how often they join classes, but last year they did it a few times." she said with a grin. "So are you going away for break?" she asked in a curious tone. [No problems ]

As the two Huffles were walking, Vanessa following Matty's lead. She tried to pay attention to everything that Matty was saying and also on trying to remember the way to get back to their house. The girl reassured her that she's okay about her mum and used of people asking her questions about it. Vanessa felt a bit uncomfortable about the topic because she's never dealt with anything like that before. She came to the conclusion that Matty has had a hard life growing up without a mum. "If there's anything you need that I can help you with, please feel free to let me know. Okay?, " she said in a comforting tone of voice.
She replied to her question, "I'm going home and I have a new book about magical creatures that I'm absolutely dieing to read. What will you be doing for break?"

Matty could only smile and nod in reply to what Vanessa had offered. "Thank to, Vanessa. Same with you, if you, like, ever need help with anything." the Fourth Year said with an encouraging smile. As the girl then answered Matty's question, the girl was content to listen to her answer. "Really? It's a good thing to read those books." Here we go, another ramble. "When my and my ex boyfriend were still together, we got caught out of curfew, and got a detention with the Care of Magical Creatures Professor. She didn't turn up, but we fed the animals, but first had to check with my book to make sure we were doing things right. It's really helpful." the girl said with a grin, remembering the good times with Jynx. "Me?" she then said. "I'm going home as well. Not doing much though, just relaxing i guess." the girl said with a small laugh.

Vanessa was shocked to hear that Matty had detention and have the professor not show up. She said, "Did you have to re-do the detention because the professor wasn't there?"
She continued, "Yeah, I enjoy learning about magical creatures, they're one of my hobbies, I could say. I have loads of books on them, I'm not sure why they interest me so. One day, I hope I could be of some kind of assistance with Professor Davenport in helping take care of them."
