Taking a few steps to the east, before turning back around and take those steps back to the west, William gazed around the room. Where was he? He was on the third floor, the floor that he was told his classroom was. Peering around a doorway, William wandered back away from the classroom, after being given an odd look by the group of students that were occupying the classroom. He wasn't sure how to decipher which classroom was his; they all looked the same, though he was guessing his was full of pens and all other muggle gadgets and contraptions. He would have thought that it would have been as easy to pick out a muggle studies classroom as it would to pick out a potions room, or that's what he had thought he knew about the room that he had so gingerly found four or five floors down. William had never felt so much like a fish out of water upon returning to Hogwarts. Students just didn't give the respect that they used to give, William had not had one person come up to him welcoming him. True, he did look just like a seventh year, but didn't they have friendships that would involve some sort of acknowledgment, if not conversation. Times had changed since he was a kid, he wasn't in any place to judge those students of today. He was sure that they were all just as hardworking and committed as he was, maybe just with different morals and goals in life. There was nothing wrong with that. " And its time to get ill, I got your remedy. For those who don't remember me, then let me introduce to my style. I try to keep a jumble in the lyrics, never mumble when the musics making people tongue tied. You want a new song like a new religion, music for the television. I can't do the long division, someone do the math." William sung, flopping down into one of the many couches that sat in the middle of the room. All he had to do now was wait for someone who looked like they could help. As if anyone would though. [/size]

Sitting in the common room with a book was pretty much an everyday thing for Derrick Breckenridge. Today though was one of those rare days where Derrick for the life of him could not concentrate and because of this his reading was a lost cause. Shutting the book he set in on the window sill he was sitting next to and stood up. Knowing there was no chance anyone would actually take the book he left it there. After all what reason would someone have to take his book? It was sitting there pleasantly drawing in the sun, warming itself, and enjoying the day. Shaking his head Derrick realized it was foolish to treat his possessions like people anymore. He had friends now so why should he treat his objects as people? Checking himself though Derrick decided he liked doing this with his objects far too much to stop, naming things it turned out was habit former. Sticking his hand in his pockets Derrick head towards the door to head out into the castle. For now he would explore if he couldn't amuse himself.
Striding through the halls Derrick watched as students bustled by him. His only class today had been earlier and per usual Derrick had trounced upon the homework and had it done in a matter of minutes. It was that kind of thing that made him wish he was older and would be able to tackle the supposed more challenging N.E.W.T work. It was that kind of thing that excited the young Hufflepuff but at the same time he was excited to start his elective classes. His first two Care of Magical Creatures and Ancient Runes had been pleasant but he was somewhat intrigued to take his Muggle Studies class. This was simply because he was a muggle and was taking it more to see what wizards saw muggle things as. It would be an interesting class and as long as he learned a new thing or two he'd be pleased.
Derrick walked down the hall of the third floor aimlessly. It wasn't so much that he was looking for people but looking for something to do. Just then though a man stepped out into the hall from a classroom and Derrick couldn't help but be intrigued. Derrick became even more interested when the man began to sing and did so quite well. Watching as he entered a room Derrick walked to the door and peeked in. The man now was sitting in the middle of the classroom looking a bit lost. Running the face through his mind Derrick realized who exactly the man was. It was his Muggle Studies professor. What compelled him to do what he did next was beyond him. He after all had no idea what the man's name was just that he was a professor of a class that he would be taking. Maybe it was the singing or maybe it was because he wanted to see what the man would be like as a teacher. Either way Derrick walked steadily into the room stopping in front of his Professor.
"You okay Professor you look a bit lost?"
Derrick gave him an awkward smile and now realized what he had done probably wasn't the smartest thing. After all why would the man be lost he worked at the school he had to know where things were.....didn't he?

Sighed as his neck dropped back on the cushion of the chair behind him, William rolled his head from side to side. Some would think that the man was weird, insane even, but William would insist that it was just because he didn't really care what people thought of him. He hated it when people restricted themselves around people; the professor had made it clear to people that he didn't think that was right, and he would take no part of it. First the owlry, now this, William didn't even care if he didn't get the students respect, though he knew that respect came with fear and he was anything but scary.
Lifting his head up, just to see someone enter, William tilted it back, before letting it drop once again. He wasn't sure whether he was imagining the person just because he needed help so badly, but his questions were answered once the boy began to speak. Looking at the boy once again, William smiled. He had called him a professor. It still hadn't set in that William was here to teach the students, he still felt like he had so much more to learn. William hadn't yet held a class, but he was sure that he was going to enjoy it. Especially if there were students like this boy there.
"Rumor has it my classroom is on this floor. But I don't know."
The man said with a childish shrug of his shoulders. He wasn't sure whether the kid had heard him singing, and for a split second, that actually worried William, until he could reassure himself by telling himself that it did not matter. The way that Professor Garcia's brain worked, no one could understand but him. Luckily Will didn't let people in that easily, so no one did have to decipher the inpenetrable enigma that he liked to call his mind. "I teach, that subject, the um, Muggle Studies." William chuckled, as it took him a while to remember what his subject was.

Derrick knew that he shouldn't have laughed....well actually he didn't know if it was appropriate or in fact inappropriate but regardless he did it. The Professor amused him which wasn't the case from most around the school. All the others were so tense and strict but this man was just so relaxed and laid back it was unbelievable. It was to a certain extent refreshing that Derrick wouldn't have to worry about putting himself forward or speaking out of turn with his answers because he just didn't think the Professor would care. No matter what Derrick made a mental note to not drop the class even if he was doing poorly it just seemed like it would be far too enjoyable for him to pass up on. His movements alone were loose and his mannerisms were just as odd as his. If anything it put him in a state of relief that he wouldn't feel so alone in a classroom for once.
"Yeah I'm pretty sure your right that it's on this floor. I was actually trying to figure out what room it was myself."
It was a blatant lie Derrick knew this but he didn't care. The man intrigued him and he wanted to know more about him. It was odd for Derrick to put himself forth around people but in this case Derrick couldn't help but be curious enough about the Professor to do so. Sitting down next to the man as he said he taught Muggle Studies Derrick shook his head symbolizing that he knew. The Professor had stumbled when he was searching for the subject he taught but that wasn't exactly a bad thing. It just meant he was thinking about other more important things or just something else. Either way it was good because it showed he wasn't one of those Professor who was so hardcore about their subject that it would allow Derrick to actually understand what he was trying to convey when he taught the class. Derrick shook his head again once more thinking whether the man actually realized he was in his class. Just in case he didn't Derrick felt that he mine as well let him know that the young Hufflepuff was his student.
"I know I'm in your third year class then."
It was one of those things that felt odd just even saying. Granted this whole situation was odd seeing as for the most part Derrick didn't speak with Professors. They were usually far to intimidating with of course the exception of his Head of House but that was because she just gave him this motherly vibe and while she didn't remind him physically of his mother her actions and the knitting did. His mother had knitted everything from scarves to sweaters all of which he had grown out of now. Sighing he knew where it all was placed in a trunk at his new house underneath his bed. It would stay there until he had children, if in fact he did have children. Shaking his head Derrick looked up and at his Professor again poising a question.
"So shall we go find your classroom or would you prefer to just sit?"
It was simple and awkward at the same time. This was because Derrick didn't know what else to say he had never hung out with anyone who was most likely twice his age other then his two sets of parents. Shaking his head he sighed knowing that it was best that he just let the Professor lead and that whatever he did he would follow.

Tilting his head on the side when the boy laughed, William shifted in his comfortable spot on the hardwood floors. He didn't care that whatever he did seemed to amuse the boy, William just wasn't sure whether the boy was being rude, y'know, laughing in his face to show that no matter who the man was, this boy didn't respect him. It scared William a little bit, to think that students could be that rude, but in the back of his mind, William knew that that was not the reason that the boy had chuckled. Maybe it was the oddness in the man, maybe he had sussed him out already.
William just hoped it was a happy-to-make-your-acquaintance-and-i-can't-wait-to-be-in-your-class type of laugh. As the boy spoke, William eagerly listened in, smiling as he did so. He noticed the coincidental tone that the boy used, he was looking for the classroom too, but William found it hard to believe, not that that mattered. William would have said the same thing, if he were in the position of the boy, whatever his name was.
"I see." William spoke with a nod, his left eyebrow raised, a crinkly forming on her forehead. "It'll be a pleasure to have you in my class, Mr ...?" William asked, it would be nice to know someone's name before he was hit by the missile called a classroom. He wanted to find his classroom, he was eager to see what the other teachers had left behind. William knew that he was taking over for a Van Aller (the name made the boy shudder, it seemed rather cold) and he couldn't help but wonder why she had changed subjects. She obviously hadn't devoted her life to a subject, and in William's opinion, if she was planning on changing subjects, she never should have been teaching.
"I should probably know where I'm teaching." The man shrugged with a smile. "How about you join me for a cup of tea, in my room, once we found it?" William offered, a warm smile on his face.

Derrick watched the man with his odd and unique movements and couldn't help but become more interested in learning more about him. At this point it wasn't even because he was destined to be his teacher but his movements and actions were things that he didn't see commonly among adults let alone students. It was refreshing in a way to meet someone new that wasn't like everyone else. Especially since this person was a Professor of all people. Derrick of course was certain that outside the classroom each Professor had a social life whatever it was though was beyond him. It wasn't like he stalked Professors to see what they did in there spare time or anything of that nature. Extending his hand he offered it to the Professor in hopes of helping in from his feet.
"I'm Derrick Breckenridge sir. I'd love to have tea with once we found your room."
Most people would deem these actions as brown nosing but Derrick could really care less. He was just looking for something to do if that something involved helping the man find his classroom and then a cup of tea that was fine with him. Derrick needed to know where the classroom was anyway and a cup of tea wouldn't hurt afterwards. He was in the mood for some tea anyway so why not? It was awkward waiting for someone to take your hand so Derrick wondered silently why he had done such an odd thing as offer his. Smiling sheepishly Derrick hoped that this would turn out well after all he didn't want his Professor hating him before he even got into his class.
"So shall we find your classroom now?"

William knew that this boy was somewhat like him when he was that age. The man was 33 now, he was nearly three times how old the boy was, but there was a definite likeness between the pair. It didn't take a mastermind to figure that William wasn't always spot on normal, noticeable, but he had a lovable tendency about him, perhaps it was the odd connection that he shared with Peter Pan, maybe it was his will to stay young. If there was one person in this world that took the saying, "You're only as young as you feel," to the next level, it was William.
"Professor Garcia. Ugh, that sounds so old. Just call me William." He said, with a shrug of his shoulders, the ends of his lips turned up into a half smile. He was a good looking man, but his personality was more of what people liked about him. "We should probably do that. I was going to leave it to the day that I had class, but I figured that that would be a stupid thing to do, and there I go. I talk a lot. You'll enjoy my classes." William said, in a childish and sarcastic tone, like always. "So, Mr. Breckenridge. How are you liking Hogwarts so far?"

Derrick watched his Professor calmly and knew that more and more by the second he was liking the man. If not only for his tone but his gestures and the way he approached things. It was what he hoped Maddyson could bring out of him. The nonchalantness, the ability to speak freely without worry, and well just everything else. It was odd Derrick thought for a brief moment how he was connecting so well with all these older people. Josh would be gone this year and Beau the year after that but this man would at least be here after they left. Chuckling Derrick nodded in agreeance knowing what he was going to say next.
"No problem William just one thing don't expect me to call you by any nicknames, you can call me whatever you'd care to but don't expect nicknames out of me for you. As is there is only one person whose managed to get me out of my habit with names and well she's a whole other story."
Derrick paused and took the rest of what the man said in for a moment. Yes he talked a lot but that wasn't the reason Derrick would enjoy his classes.
"I do enjoy how you talk but I think I'll enjoy your classes a bit more because you speak honestly. That and you're not treating me like I have no idea what I'm talking about. Have you ever answered questions just to get things over with so you could actually do what the teacher was talking about?"
It was an odd question he knew but it was the only reason he answered things in classes like Potions and Transfiguration. It was all for the simple reason that he wanted to practice the spells or potions. He wanted to create and do what he could with what he had. Was wanting all that so odd or different? Shrugging it off he answered the man's last question with a small sigh and another question or two of his own.
"It's alright much better this year now that I'm actually talking to people. I've pretty much been looking forward to my electives though your class, Care of Magical Creatures, and Ancient Runes. I just want some new I guess. How are you enjoying your time back though William and is that it up there?"
Derrick pointed down near the end of the hall he choose it because it was simply one of the few open classrooms in the hall. The rest were occupied or looked as if nothing were to be taught in them so Derrick was attempting at the moment to make some sort of logical guess. If he was wrong so what, what did he have to lose here?

Although he was a man that didn't care what people thought of him, he did have his weakness, his Achilles heel, if you will. He hated being thought of as old. He was somewhat like Peter Pan, except for the fact that William aged physically, but his mind was always as young as it wanted to be. He still thought up funny comebacks to people, even though he'd never say them, innuendo was his main field, but this was the reason that he got on so well with kids, the reason that he became a professor.
Sometimes he would regret his field of choice, Muggle Studies, the subject that he chose his life to be based around. He liked little kids, but he was no muggle teacher, and the man wished that he could have chosen a compulsory subject, one that he had all years for, first years through seventh years, as opposed to his elective choice, where he only had years three and up. It saddened him, but he knew that he could still get to know the eleven year olds, even if they weren't in his class.
"Trust me, the nicknames for William, they aren't exactly... flattering. And I'm not a fan of nicknames that don't actually come from the name in question." William said, truthful. Usually people didn't speak truthfully with someone that they'd only just met, but if you didn't already figure this out, William wasn't most people. William was William.
"Oomph. Three electives? I barely did the two that I had to." The man joked, with a shrug of his shoulders. "It's good to be back. It seems so long since I've been here, but that's a good thing, right. You never actually get a chance to see the world until you've finished school, unless you're absolutely rolling in it. I was in Gryffindor. Probably for my chivalry, bravery, maybe not so much for the modesty." William joked, hoping the boy got it.

Derrick chuckled at the man's jest as they got closer to the door. He truthfully didn't know to many Gryffindors but that was because he really didn't mix with too many people outside of his own house. Odd he knew but it was simply because Derrick was never one to put himself out there. Running his hand through his hair Derrick shrugged though at his comment about his electives.
"Eh I intend on dropping Astronomy as soon as I can and I want to have a full load so one extra class for the time being isn't going to kill me. It's not the I dislike Astronomy and I think Professor Debussy is nice and all but I just like to keep my stars simple and a mystery. I don't like having explanations for the sky."
Derrick said the last part staring down a bit ashamed of the statement. Only for the fact that he was constantly looking for knowledge and that was the one area he was if you could say it afraid of. It was childish and naive he knew but that just didn't concern him at all. It was his illusion and that was all that really needed to be said about the matter in general. Derrick just wanted to have the stars remain a mystery for him was that so much to ask.
"So what made you want to come back and teach though? Anything specific? That is if you don't mind me asking."
He knew it was probably poking and prying a bit too far for his own good but Derrick never knew the limit about such things. That was something Derrick need to figure out in general. His limits. Most people knew them but Derrick didn't and really didn't care to. He was quite content with being limitless although he was starting to feel that he should learn some before he got himself in to deep or for that matter hurt himself. Sighing Derrick turned and faced the door gesturing for him to take the first step through the door and for that matter to open it.
"I think this is it...possibly?"
It was more of a question he knew but that mattered not to him seeing as if he was wrong so what they would just search some more. He enjoyed the man's company so a little longer before tea wouldn't kill him.

When William had been stuck in school; wasting his time, as he so affectionately called it back then; William had been the slightly out of control, fun loving, rebellious one. It was sad really, as he hadn't matured since then, but with all of the trouble making, William had never been one that had the least friends. Sure, there were the few 'bookworms' that hated his guts, but William merely complimented them with a slight teasing, a nudge, and a wink.
"Professor Debussy, eh?" He said, with a grin, smiling at the mention of the girl. So they hadn't yet met, but William had heard her name, and he had overheard some of his students gossiping about her; apparently she was quite the nice, young professor. "Are you a part of her fan club?" William joked, hoping to catch a hesitant, embarrassed blush from the boy, to confirm his suspicions.
"I wouldn't think like that, if I were you. Besides, you're a third year, right? You've still got another three years of the class, you may as well enjoy it." William offered his advice, regretting his hatred for a few subjects. So the boys wasn't as strong as that. "How was the old muggle studies professor? I heard she wasn't the best." William asked childishly, remembering the name 'Van Aller' being mentioned in not so great terms. And to think she was younger than him.
"It's just what I wanted to do. When I was here, I hated it. I did anything to make it better. But when I left, well, I had never missed anything more. The outside world, man, it sucks. Seriously, live it up while your here." The nostalgia of the moment getting the better of William, the boy shook his head and smiled.
"Yeah, this looked about right."
