The blackboard was clean. Enough chairs were placed around the round desk. Today's material was neatly stacked on the professor's desk. But the professor himself was nowhere to be seen. Actually, Professor Mason arrived 5 minutes earlier, but he received an urgent owl and just stepped out of the room.
But he did leave the door unlock, either because of consideration or carelessness. He didn't consider if the students would mis-behave while he was not there, but he would find out.

Misbehave in class? Not Drew. And certainly not when he actually liked the class. He had enough problems with teacher who didn't like him, he wasn't about to screw it up with the ones who actually seemed to tolerate him.
The class was empty which suited him better than being alone with the professor. He took his seat and dug out his notes from his backpack, hoping this class would be as good as the last one.

I see this Thornton kid everywhere... Tuesday thought to himself as he slid his bag under a seat. He nodded at the Professor, just as his many sisters made him rehearse.
"Umm... hi, my name is Noah Tuesday. I'm new here, and I was wondering I might be able to join your class this late in the game?"
Ancient Runes was the class that Tuesday looked most forward to. This class was not offered in his old school, so he was eager to try something new. Hopefully the Professor would not object to let him sit in the class.

"I know who you are, Tuesday," Drew answered, giving the boy an odd look. How could you forget someone who tried to kiss you? "And as for joining the class, I think it'll be okay, but you'll have to ask the professor when he shows up."

"Drew! I have to talk to you man," he said walking in the classroom. He then walked up to him. "See this? This 1/4 of the skateboard yours?" he asked him showing the 1/4 of the broken skateboard. He found it in the hallway on the way to the classroom. This was a bummer if it was Drew's. If not, then who else around the castle skateboarded besides him and Drew? Well it could of been anybodys. He then looked over to see Noah.
"What up, Noah?" he asked still showing the broken skateboard to Drew.

"Not mine," Drew answered looking at Tristan blankly. Drew wouldn't break his skateboard and just leave it someplace. Especially since, like Tristn, everyone else would think of him right away when they saw it. He didn't want to get blamed for leaving junk behind in the halls.
Besides, it would be a huge waste of perfectly good parts.

"Hello everyone!" Alexis greeted bursting into the classroom. She was in a strangely good mood for some reason, which was rare for Alexis when it came to class time. Of course now with her in the room, that made four people in there minus a professor. Looking over at Tristan, well more like what he was holding, she asked, "Vhat is that, how did you break it and vhy did you bring it?" Ok, she hadn't seen a skateboard before. Could you blame her for asking so many questions?

"My apologizes class," Professor Mason walked in quickly and closed the door behind him. He shoved the parchment inside his pocket and reached for his stack of notes. Of course, he had to grab the wrong pile, which made him look for the ones for the 5th year. Needless to say, he ended up making quite a mess on the desk.
"Sorry about my lateness..." he looked up halfway and saw the thing Mr Howard held up. "Mr Howard, what is that? And it looks like we have a new student here."

"It's a ... uhh.. broken skateboard. Sure as heck ain't mine. I don't really know who else skates here," he told Alexis. Then he heard the professor enter and ask what Mr. Howard had, which was him. "It's a ... 1/4 of a skateboard. I found it lying around the hallway," he said coming up to the professor and handing him the board. He then heard they recieved a new student. He then look to see it was Noah. He grinned. Noah could introduce himself.

Professor Mason picked up the board from his desk and looked at it. He didn't know how to skate board, not had he seen somebody did that. The only thing he knew about the activity was that it's a muggle one. "For our new member here, you should borrow notes from your classmates and study the material," he said to the new Gryffindor and put the board back down. "And Mr Howard is free to pick this up after class." "Today we are going to talk about the Syllabary of Linear B," he started the class. "So it's only appropriate to show you guys all the alphabets first." (Sorry, the contrast seems to be a bit off...)

Drew copied down the symbols precisely into his notes, unknowingly sticking his tongue out the side of his mouth as he worked. He understood the slightest deviation of the lines might change the meaning.
"It's a grid..." he announced, noticing the vowels across the top and the consonants along the side. He immediately tried to write his name and realized he couldn't. "So what do you do if you have two consonants together... or your starting with a vowel instead of a consonant?" He had an idea, but wasn't sure it was the right answer.

"Very very good question, very very good," the man had to restrain himself from clapping in glee. He reminded himself he had to be more professional.
"Whenever there is an initial consonant cluster, individual consonant is then written with a vowel which matches the syllable," he explained. "Like the word tri is written as ti-ri."
"The first row of the table gives the symbols for each individual vowel," he paused before continued. "But remember, Linear B is based on Greek. So for this to really work, we will need to know the syllables in Greek."

Drew nodded back and gave his name a try again, sticking his tongue out as before and squinting at the board everyso often as he wrote. He used the X shape with the crown on top, followed by a rounded pitchfork and ending with the backwards S. With a satisfied sigh, he sat back and grinned. He wasn't sure it was right, but then again, he wasn't Greek, so it didn't really matter.

Mason was facing the class when he answered, so he got a clear view to Drew and his tongue. He wasn't quite sure as to why he did that. Perhaps it's a Ravenclaw thing? Or someone threw an engorgement charm at his tongue? "As to ending consonants, the situation becomes more complicated," he began again and picked up a piece of chalk. Throwing it slightly in his hand, he continued. "Ending consonants such as l, m, n, r, and s are not usually written. So my last name Mason," he started to draw on the board, "would look something like this."
