It can't have been too noticeable. While Charlie was used to never buttoning her shirt all the way up, it was weird to see her in her uniform in a semi-neat way. Still, she felt like she was a nun, covering up her chest and part of her neck to avoid the stares. It would have been already odd enough when she left the Slytherin commons for the owlery. She wouldn't have left if she knew she had this disgusting, itchy... scaly.... skin, but she just had to check her mail and send off Christmas cards to family (no money for presents, and what did it matter if she couldn't even see them?). It was the most she could do before she could escape away, away.
For a while she had felt a cold coming on, but such a thing was not allowable with exams and practices. She had no desire to be part of the masses, the sickly masses that had gotten her shut in like an ancient quarantine. What kind of fun was this holiday? Normally she'd enjoy being away from home nowadays, but not when everyday she was seeing more and more students out of commission.
And now it looks like she caught something. She itched her collarbone and slapped the underside of her chin. This stuff was bound to spread to her face, she just knew it. She growled to herself and closed her eyes as she made a high-pitched sneeze. Her slowed reflexes didn't catch the person aside from her as she tried to open her eyes in time to see who she bumped into. Nice going, Scales.
(open! Yep, I gots the scales)

"Oh Dear!" Tallulah squeaked as someone simutaniously sneezed and bumped into her. She thought she was all alone up here. Tal was sending out her christmas list. It was quite large but she knew she'd get everything she asked for on it. She even asked for the dress she wanted for her parent's annual Christmas party. Tallulah asked for it to be sent here so that she may bring a little Christmas cheer with a small party.
Tallulah turned around to see another Snake standing there looking quite ill. When she'd seen here before her uniform had never looked this good. She took a step away, looking her over for a second. "Are you ok? You look.....quite the opposite." The girl didn't look well. She could see little parts of her skin that looked scaley.
Tallulah had noticed that many students were out of commision this holiday. The fact that they weren't alowed to go home irked Tallulah, even more so was the fact that the perfectly healthy children were stuck here with them! Tallulah was sure she wasn't sick, nor would she be sick. She knew that there was the containment issue, but really? She'd rather be home.

Aw crap, Charlie thought when she not only ran into someone, but someone from her house. The scales had only popped up that morning after a bit of pain, but now that they were definite, they itched like a mother, and she wasn't sure it would have been that easy to crawl back to bed and call it a day.
No, no, she didn't want to belong to the hospital wings with invalids. There was a rumor of Dragon Pox running around again, and although she had it already (in fact... she may have started the last epidemic), she was sure that this illness had something to do with it. Maybe she was psyching herself out with the thought of more illness, but she was feeling fine until Layla had to get around and be all sick.
"Ya think?" She replied to the younger girl as she tried desperately to move the oxford upwards. She would have worn a regular tee-shirt, but all of her clothes were in need of a wash. Besides, she wasn't really expecting to sit and chat awhile with someone. Just being asked about her condition felt just that. "Look, it's ugly, yeah it itches. But stop staring at the scales."

Tallulah jumped a little at the girl's tone. She didn't seem to happy to see anyone at the moment. She looked at the girl for another second then averted her eyes and walked over to a free owl and gave it her letter. She watched as the owl flew away with her list. Turning back to the girl her eyes on her face, away from her other affliction.
"You're the head girl right? Charlie I think the name is." Her voice was calm as she she spoke to the older girl. The fact that the girl was sick didn't both her. If it was a wizarding illness then Tallulah was safe, she had already had them all. Even with that happy knowledge she didn't step closer. "Sending out holiday cards are we?"
Her brown eyes looked the girl over again. She was pretty, in a quite regal way. She held her head high and looked like she wouldn't shy from a fight. Tallulah liked this in a person. She smirked, taking a step to the side. "Has this ever happened before, the containment? I suppose it has being this is a school and kids do get sick. I hope it ends soon." She wished she could be home in her own bed, not one surrounded by disease.

Charlie scratched a little at her throat, unknowingly provoking a tickle in her throat that erupted into a few fiendish coughs. If she got lucky, whatever this stuff on her chest was would go away and she'd feel better by the new year. She would have hated to sit out the activities she did for this. Normally, she was more than happy to sit out school, but doing that would also involve not doing qudditch, so Charlie barely ever got out of school unless she really had to.
Coughs and sneezes? No problem. A little dizziness? Gone in a jiffy. Dragon-like scales? She could overcome it like that.
Overconfidence wasn't too visible in her hacking up coughs as she nodded at the girl's correct answer of the name of the Head Girl. And even then did she nod at the second comment, although she had to lean back on the wall as she regained her use of her throat for conversation. "Only containment I remember's the time the Deva came... or the fire... or the other fire...." Amazing to her how long she had been around to see so much in her school. She didn't know how she could do without it. Without Hogwarts...
Her legs didn't measure their balance right, and so she almost fell over, but avoided that with some more support from the wall.

A look of worry flashed across Tallulah's face as a coughing fit took over the girl. She took a step forward, holding her hand out. It couldn't really help her but she wanted to help. "Are you sure you're ok? You look a bit sickly." Tallulah wasn't feigning worry for the girl. Charlie looked truely ill. Tallulah took another step forward, looking the girl over.
"Only containment I remember's the time the Deva came... or the fire... or the other fire...."
Tallulah's eyes widened as the older Slytherin spoke about some of the other things that had happened at Hogwarts. "The Deva? They actually got in here? I thought this place was very well protected?" Not that it mattered. If they Deva infiltrated Hogwarts again Tal would be safe. "And we've had two fires? Dear me, this school is quite dangerous."
Tal turned to an owl that was perched close to her and stroked its wing slowly. She looked around the room, trying to think of something to say to the girl. "Soo, How do you think Christmas is going to be held here? Are we going to have a big feast or smaller ones in our commom rooms?" This was a viable question, Tal didn't know how Christmas was done here.

"Justa tickle in the throat," Charlie said and avoided taking the girl's hand. She was hoping that she was only psyching herself out, seeing lots of sick students could only make her feel sick as well, but if she had enough mental clarity, she would feel much better than she was now. Still, she didn't see how scales could be factored into this. "'Sides, it's not Dragon Pox. Got that two, three years ago."
Charlie chose to ignore the comment about the school being dangerous. While it seemed to attract disasters, it also alerted Charlie to the dangers of the outside. She didn't really want some grand illusion that life was beautiful when really there were things to be aware of. Hogwarts was actually one of the safest places. The only problem is that Shaw and his chums were too stupid to realize that.
"I kinda don't know," Charlie said about the Christmas festivities. She knew there was Yule in the Hogsmeade village, and she was bummed to miss out on it, but all in all she didn't mind spending the holidays with her friends. "I got invited to my friend's party.... but I guess we could hold a party in our house."
It had been a long time since that occurred. When Charlie and Reina were prefects, they held parties for just about anything. New term, old term, qudditch wins, qudditch losses. She couldn't see why she couldn't try to hold the tradition. She was no party-planner, per say, and that's what kept her from doing anything. But it seemed like only grey skies would be ahead if they didn't try to do something.

Tallulah nodded at the head girl's reply but knew it had to be worse then 'just a tickle'. Charlie didn't look as bad as some of the other students but still, she was sick. There was no doubt of that fact. Tallulah also noticed that she didn't acknowledge her comment about the school and how it seemed like a mecca for danger. It really didn't bother her much. She knew the school had to have some danger, but all in all it wasn't that life threatening.
The idea of a party in the dorms sounded quite nice to Tallulah. She'd never spent a holiday away from home and the parties there, so having one at school might sound fun. "That'd be really cool. Having a party here I mean." She was quite livid that she had to miss her parents party. Even though she whined about the party she loved going.
A silence descended between the two of them. Tallulah really didn't know what to say. The only girl seemed to not want to here here at all, having this conversation. She looked over at the girl again, giving her a smile. "So you said you had the pox a few years ago? Do you know how it broke out here? I was wondering that."

It seemed like the party plan was solidifying in her mind. She could arrange something here and there, talk to so and so, and get it all on this date. She looked at the girl. "New Years Eve... I'm thinkin' that's the right date to do it," she said when December 31 looked like a great date. She would have been fine planning it for Christmas, but she had already set her sights on Drew's holiday party.
She tried not to linger too far into her mind as the slightly younger Slytherin asked her about the last dragon pox epidemic. "Yeah, ya see... I started the last one." As far as she knew, she was the first one to contract it, unless otherwise stated. "But dude that was like two or three years ago..."
