OOC: Open for anyone! ;D
Michea walked into the Great Hall for the first time and looked around curiously. As she'd read about and been informed of, each house had it's own set of tables. There were several students of each variety sitting at their respective tables already. Michea headed towards the Slytherin table to join her Housemates when something caught her eye above her. She glanced up, simply out of reflex, not really expecting to see anything unusual. What she saw stopped her forward motion completely and she stood and stared at the ceiling, or lack there-of, in amazement.
In the back of her mind, she recalled reading about the enchanted ceiling, but the words didn't capture the real thing properly at all. It was reflecting the sky at that moment; a sea of wispy clouds splashed with bright pinks, purples and oranges of a magnificent sunset on an indigo backdrop. It was beautiful.

Rael walked into the Great Hall, book open, reading. She wasn't paying attention to what was in her path, and ran into something. Make that someone. She looked up, utterly horrified she had done what she did. "I'm sorry," she said. She looked at the girl in front of her, but didn't recognize her. "I really am. I guess I should pay more attention to what I'm doing, eh?" she smiled.

The jolt snapped Michea out of her amazed gawking. She straightened up and returned the older girl's smile with a small, wry one of her own. "It's my fault really. I probably shouldn't be standing right in the walkway staring at the ceiling."
She glanced up again, unable to help herself, and noticed that the 'sky' above was changing. The clouds had shifted and the colors darkened, the bright pinks replaced by sultry maroons. Realizing she was doing it again she looked away quickly, feeling an uncharacteristic warmth flushing her cheeks.

"And I shouldn't have been reading and walking, it seems to be hazardous." She noticed the girl look at the ceiling and looked up at it herself. "It's beautiful, isn't it? At least it is when it's not raining." She returned her gaze back to the girl. She really didn't recognize her, and this was the second student this week she had run into without having a clue who it was.
"I'm Rael," she said as she held out her hand. She waited for the girl to respond.

"Michea. Michea Devries," she replied, taking the older girl's hand. Her smile deepened slightly, glad Rael hadn't thought her reaction to the ceiling unusual, or at least keeping it to herself if she did. "Very nice to meet you."
She glanced up at the ceiling again, knowing that she'd probably be doing that every time she entered this room for probably the rest of her tenure at Hogwarts. Michea couldn't imagine it ever getting old. "I don't know, I think I'd like to see it when it rains," she commented thoughtfully.

"It's nice to meet you, as well, Michea," she said as she shook the girl's hand. Rael watched as the girl chanced another glance at the ceiling, and couldn't help but smile. Upon first arriving at Hogwart's, her reaction had been exactly the same to the Great Hall.
"Ah, you think you'd like it now, just wait until you do see it," she smiled. "Then you can tell me the same thing when you are soaking wet." Her first week at Hogwart's it had rained, and without realizing the rain liked to beat the barrier, she had walked into the Great Hall and had received a second shower. Of course, she was too young to know any spells to dry herself, and she hadn't had the time to change until afternoon break. She had had to sit the first hours of the morning sopping wet, being laughed at about it, as well.

"The rain comes through, as real rain? Not just the illusion of rain?" Michea was a bit shocked. "What if it rains during a meal-time?" Her grey eyes scanned the floor and walls, not to mention the rich hangings displaying each of the Houses' emblems, looking for signs of water damage. She didn't see any, though, she supposed they'd have a magical way of preventing that.
She couldn't imagine trying to eat while being pelted with raindrops though.

Rael laughed at her reaction. "It is usually an illusion, but the rain let's us know when the barrier needs to be resealed. And on that fateful day you happen to be the one standing in the middle of the Hall, let me know what it's like." She allowed her smile to remain on her face.
"So what year are you in?" she asked, hoping to figure out who the girl was.

Glancing suspiciously at the 'sky' above them one last time and then mentally shrugged. It couldn't be that much different than the time Grandpa's roof leaked a couple of years ago. Less mundane maybe, but the result would be the same. But until that happened, she'd just enjoy the novelty of eating outdoors when she was actually indoors.
"I'm in my First Year. Actually, I'm just starting here." It was probably obvious, what with her wonderstruck reaction to the enchanted ceiling, but one never knew. "I'm in Slytherin House," she added since her jeans and South Park sweatshirt didn't exactly announce the fact.

When Michea said she was in first year, Real had nodded, it was what she had expected. However, when she also said she was in Slytherin, Rael's smile faultered slightly. Rael hadn't had a good run-in with a Slytherin in awhile, but she thought the girl standing before was in good manner.
"I'm in Gryffindor," she said proudly. "And in sixth year," her smile had fully returned. "So, this is you're first term here, I'm taking?" If this was, this was the third new arrival during break she had met. She peered at the girl through her blue eyes while she waited for her answer.

Michea had noticed the drop in enthusiasm on Rael's face when she'd mentioned her House. She supposed she should have expected it, her father had warned her when she'd been Sorted into Slytherin that the House had a bad reputation. It troubled her a bit, though her own expression didn't change. Michea really hoped the older girl's opinion of her wasn't so easily swayed. Not that it would ruin her life if Rael decided she wasn't worth knowing, but the idea of someone being so petty was disappointing.
"Yes. I only just arrived. I'm quite excited for classes to start." Her father had been touting the magical education to be had at this school, and she was eager to learn how to utilize the power she'd been born with.

Rael smiled at the enthusiasm in the girl's voice when she spoke about classes. "I know what you mean, I'm rather tired of break. Classes always bring excitement, whether good or bad," she said. "And this place could use some excitement." She decided she would let things run their course, she liked the girl so far. Not all Slytherins were bad, just the last months had brought out a harsher tone to the Slytherin name. But all in the house are individuals, she thought. Let them be judged on their own terms.
"So what classes are you most excited about?" she asked

Michea felt herself relax a bit as the conversation moved along, instead of stalling out due to the House issue. She thought about Rael's question seriously for a moment. It was hard to decide on a subject that sounded more interesting than the others, as all of them were unlike anything she'd ever taken before. Well, except for History of Magic perhaps. She imagined all History classes were pretty much the same, no matter what sort of History they focused on.
"Maybe Transfiguration. Turning one thing into something else, that really sounds interesting. Or Potions maybe. Of course, I might change my mind once classes actually start," she replied, a small grin breaking out on her face.

"Ah, potions. One of my favorites," she smiled. "Transfiguration on the other hand can be too much work to be worth it, or that's how it seems quite often." She watched the girl to see if she would have more to say, or decide she had other things to do.

OOC: I'm assuming you want to wrap this up? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Michea shrugged, "Anything good takes effort. But like I said, I won't really know what I like best until the classes actually start. " Just then, her stomach growled, reminding her why she came into the Great Hall in the first place and that all around the two of them, people were eating and whatever they were eating smelled awfully good. "I think I'm going to get something to eat now. It was very nice talking with you Rael, I hope we can do it again some time." She smiled politely at the older girl.
