A small handed touched the grand doors of the entrance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Finding comfort in her proximity to the overpowering castle, Layla Jimenez smiled softly. She took her backpack, since her trunk and other belongings were taken into another entrance by elves, and brought its strap over her left shoulder.
When she had first gone to a magical school, she had been hesitant. But that was out of unfamiliarity and fear. Today she had no hesitations. She forced her weight onto her hand and pushed the doors open. Looking up and around, she smiled again. A smile she hadn't worn since the last time she was here. Magic in the form of air, light, colors and students was all she saw.
"Beautiful," was all she could say. Beautiful as always.

Drew had commandeered the ottoman from the prefects lounge and dragged it to the great staircase, planning on doing a little extreme stair sliding. As usual, he had made sure his path was clear and as usual, someone managed to come through the door just as it was too late to stop.
"HOLD ON!" he cried out, hoping the person at the foot of the stairs understood that he meant 'you may want to get out of my way.'

Being as curious about people as she was, the tiny first year Hufflepuff had followed the new, late, arrival from a distance, only after the Entrance Hall doors had closed did she move quicker, running toward the doors figuring the girl would have left the hall by the time she'd gotten there. Completely forgetting that most, herself included, had stopped to gawk at everything.
She hit the opposite door the girl had gone through at full speed, the door, still not to easily coming open but enough for her to slip through and rub her shoulder lightly. She was never doing that again. Lianna found the older girl to be a few feet in front of her, the door having not made as much noise as she'd thought it had. Her head tilted casually to the right as she finally after a moment found a form of voice.
"Hi..." She managed weakly. OK, so it wasn't much and while she was curious about people, she never had done well with the introductory part.

Her gaze and concentration was broken with a familiar yelp and she saw a smaller girl quickly move to her left. Taking the alarming voice as a warning like the girl did, she moved towards the girl and nudged her a bit more when she saw a familiar figure racing towards on them on what looked like..
"A sofa?" she whispered. She instantly recognized the rider and formed another one of those smiles. "I'm here for barely a minute and you almost kill me AND a younger student. That must be a record!"
She turned to the girl. "Are you ok? Drew can be dangerous if not bound."

As the ottoman hit the foot of the stairs, it flipped up and over, tossing its rider in the process. While painful, it wouldn't have been so bad had the piece of furniture landed on top of him, soft side down, but still.
"I said to move..." Drew groaned from underneath the cushion, still not realizing who he had almost bowled over.

The little youngling merely nodded in reply to the older girl's inquiry and peered over the side of the couch cautiously, half expecting it to flip back over. Sure, it was a wild expectation, but she was eleven, everything, was a wild expectation. Her eyes found Drew and then flicked back to the older girl. She'd called him by name, maybe...she wasn't new after all, maybe Lianna had just been inattentive.
But she could have sworn she hadn't seen the girl once before, anywhere. It was all too weird. Of course, the thought hadn't occurred to her that the sofa could have hit her, no that thought had been out the window from the git-go. Woo to short attention spans!

Dropping her bag and smiling at the girl, Layla moved to the now buried Drew and tried to move the ottoman. It was difficult, but she managed to shift it enough to get a view of Drew's head. She wasn't worried about him being hurt. From people's stories, and her own experience, Drew had done much worse. Now the plan was to get him out of there before he got detention.
She tilted her head towards the boy on the ground. "Hey there, stranger."

Drew gave another groan as the weight was lifted off of him. The tumble had left him sore and he just lay there on the floor for a while with his eyes closed. "I know that voice..." he said as his face slowly broke into a grin. He opened one eye and his smile got wider. "I know that face... hey you."

"Hello, brother," she said with an identical smile. "Now let's see... Extreme Sofa Diving? I thought explosions were more your style." She held out a hand to help him up, putting more weight on the ottoman to move it away.

(Didn't realize you were actually UNDER it Drew ) The mere notion the two had known eachother prior to now was confirmed, but, brother? Well, it was all unexpected and confusing as it could go a couple of ways, butIt was probably a detail best left ignored. The Hufflepuff chose to remain silent through it all, as it seemed they had more than alittle catching up to do, it wasn't rightly her place to say, well, anything. That, and she was still getting over the shock of nearly getting crushed by a couch...

"I thought we were finally rid of you," Drew said, sitting up with her help and eventually getting to his feet with a small groan. He grinned down at her for a moment before finally grabbing her into a bearhug. "Dang, it's good to see you again. You back for good?"

Layla breathed heavily at the unexpected grasp. "Yea. I'm never leaving again if I can help it," she said trying to not sound bitter. She wrapped her arms around Drew and welcomed his hug. It was much needed. She was glad to be back, and glad to catch Drew before he was able pull something much worse than dead by sofa. She couldn't wait to see Ravenclaw again.
She pulled from the hug and told him, giggling, "I'm way behind. Feed me the gossip." At that point she remembered the other almost-victim. She turrned quickly.
"Oh! Are you ok? Drew you almost got her, too. I deserve it, but how long has she known you?"

"Almost a year," Drwe answered, grinning at the firstie. "This is Lianna, Huffle firstie, but we don't hold it against her too much. Lianna, this is Layla, Ravensister returning. Dang, she's going to make my life miserable."

The youngling seemed to not register the question at first instread she focused on what Drew was saying, basically, for her. The introductions she hated. Wow, that was lucky, nice, but definiately lucky. "I-I'm fine..." She replied, her voice still a tad shaky. Quietly she offered a hand to the older girl, now known as, Lyla, no, Layla. Close enough....

"Just a little," she said to Drew innocently, holding her thumb and index finger about an inch away from each other.
She took Lianna's hand in her own and shook it cordially. "It's nice to meet you, Lianna. It's good to hear that you've survived Drew. A true sign of a warrior, huh?" she joked. The fact was that Lianna looked like she was about to faint. She just must be really shy... or this isn't her only near-death experience.
