The great oak door creaked open a tiny crack. Declan poked his little red head in and looked around. The coast seemed to be clear, so he stepped inside, glad to finally be out of the cold. He brushed the snow off his head and off his robes. He pulled his trunk in after him. Declan looked around at the Entrance Hall and couldn't help but smile. He looked down at his new robes and his smile got even bigger. He had done it. He had gotten into Gryffindor. He eyed the giant staircases and wondered how on earth he was going to get his trunk up there.
"Blimey," he whispered. He turned around, still looking up, but heard the pitter-patter of little feet and he turned his gaze down. His trunk was gone! Declan froze and whipped around, to see if there were some older students around, playing a joke on him. There was no one in sight. Declan began to panic. All of his things were in that trunk and now it was gone. He didn't know what to do. He saundered over to the stairs case and plunked on the bottom step, hanging his head down.

Carina, giggling had charmed his trunk to move over behind a statue. She was only gifted in this one subject, Charms, and was putting her skill to good use. However, her little heart went to him as she saw him head hung low. She came out from behind the statue, dragging his trunk along the way. Yes, it was a bit strange to see a girl no higher then 4"7 to be dragging a trunk probably as big as herself along the hallway expecially when Christmas break was just beginning.
Carina heaved it in front of the boy, letting it fall over to the right. She giggled softly gazzing at him through deep chocolate brown eyes, "Opps sorry... Didn't mean to scare you." She grinned softly, making two, perhaps overly deep dimples to appear in both cheeks. They were her custom physical apperance noticed by all. She said randomly, "Oh and a word of caution, don't say anything mean about the teachers... the walls have ears, and those ears have eyes... and the caretaker will hang you by your ankles in the dungeons."
Carina nodded as she spoke a bit fast for an eleven year old. She tossed her dark curls back, waiting for a responce from the obviously low self-esteem kid. She made opinions and first impressions too easily....

Declan was petrified of this girl. He hadn't even noticed she'd brought his trunk back until the shock was gone. He tried to speak, but all that came out was a squeak. He felt his face go as red as his hair and took a deep breath. He wanted to act cool in front of this girl because, after all, first impressions were everything.
"The caretaker will hang me by me ankles, eh?" he asked, scoffing at this idea. He leaned against the railing of the stairs, trying to look cool. Something in the corner creaked, and he almost jumped out of his skin. He gazed into her dark brown eyes and had a weird feeling in the pit of his stomach. He quickly shook it off and thought to himself, "Eww girls!" He immediatly tried to make a conversation.
"So what House are you in? I'm a Gryffindor, meself," he said, thrusting his chest out, trying to look important. There was something about this girl that made him think he had to show off. Or maybe he was just an normal 11 year old boy and had to show off for everyone. But maybe it was the girl...

((ooc: awww cute little kids XD))
Carina nodded with a serious look across her face, "Yep, the older kids told me." She obviously didn't understand the fact that they enjoyed picking on new students as she did herself. "And sometimes they make you work in the Forbidden Forest, which isn't exactly forbidden if they can give detentions in there, so I call it semi-forbidden.. Noone listens to those rules anyways."
She casually ruffled her curls with her right hand, and leaned over the railing with her left, still not tall enough to see over it. She hated being short... "Gryffindor too." She pipped up cheerfully, "Watch out for those Slytherin's though. Lianna told me that an older pair of Gryffindor's told her that they have an 'evil side.' I personally thought they were a bit strange, but not that evil, even though that Dan kid had a little spark in his eye that looked rather suspiscious..." Oh great, now I'm talking forever again She kicked herself mentally for that.
Oh brother, another one afraid of everything. She thought to herself as she saw him jump when a teacher opened the door and nodded at them both "You remind me of Jase." She said straight out, not caring if he even knew who he was. After all, she was the type to randomly blurt everything out. Jase was really not at all that scared, but he was dead afraid of her for some odd reason. She couldn't put her finger on why he was afraid of her...
As the other student thrusted his chest out, she twirled her dark curls. Strange, I don't normally do that... She thought to herself. She noticed she didn't even have a name for the Gryffindor student. "Oi! What did you say your name was?" She asked. She was never one to remember names, and she thought she had simply forgotten it.

"Declan, " he said proudly, "Declan O'Malley." He did a little bow, trying to impress the girl. He didn't know why he was acting so strange, but he was, and he didn't care. Declan looked back up at the huge stair cases, and was still fascinated by their size. He looked back at the girl and smiled.
"And as for them Slytherins," he continued, "Psh! My older brother was one o' them. I know how to act 'round them. Just ignore 'em and it really makes 'em mad!" he said winking. He decided to ignore the comment about him being just like "Jase" or whatever she had said. He stepped down from the stair, and grabbed his trunk, wondering how the girl has dragged it. Declan was only 4' 8'' and the girl was shorter then him. He was bewildered that she had hauled it over.

Carina fluttered her eyes softly, "Carina Maylock... Pleasure to meet you." She gave a small over-exaggerated cursty and a wild grin crossing her features making her dimples go in about half an inch or so. She had already been around the castle long enough to realise that the staircases were just magnified with magic... Took her awhile though or else everyone would be dying with the stairs.
Carina's eyes widdened magnificantly with his statement. "Well, I can't ignore." She said with a bit of a shrugg. Yes, that was true, she possessed a nature in which she could not not talk to anyone. Pushing the thought to the back of her mind, she liked Declan's accent... Scottish very much so. She herself had a half British/ half Italian accent, as Italian was her native language. People either noticed it, or didn't as to some it was very strong, but to others weak.
Yes, magic a wonderful thing... She tried to impress him with a levitation charm. She whipped out he wand swiftly, and said with a swish and flick, "Wingardium Leviousa." The trunk levitated and began up the staircases. The problem with younger witches and wizards was the fact that they could only make spells last no longer then half a minute, and she was indeed getting fatiqued with the charm. Carina's charm failed on her, making the suitcase crash to the stairs. She got behind it, stopping it from rolling back down the stairs. She said a bit stressed, "A little help here please."

Deryn, who had just been comming down the stairs, heard a crash and looked over the railing. She saw a flash of red hair and a flash of brown. She guessed the girl must be little Carina, but she didn't know who the boy was.
"Oi! What are you lot doin' down there!" she hollered over the railing. She looked down and saw the trunk they were trying to haul up the stairs. She shook her head and began to descend the stairs.
"Just leave it for the elves. They'll get it and it'll be in your dorm before you are," she said, as she reached the bottom stair. She looked at the new boy, who seemed quite scared, so she tried to be nice.
"My name's Deryn. I'm in Gryffindor. Fifth year. I only got here a few days ago, meself. What House are you in?" she asked the new boy.

Carina shook her head at Deryn, as the poor boy and herself was heaving it up the stairs still trying hard not to let it fall. He was HER prey, not Deryn's and she was going to put an end it it. She said a bit loud, a bit mind you with over-exaggerated sarcasm, "Well don't just stay there, help us so it doesn't fall down the stairs!"
((ooc: srry for the bit of PP here)) At last, the trunk was steady on the stairs when a bunch of small house elves came around and said a bit shallow, "Hello Mister.... erm. Hello... We'll glady take the trunk up for you." They all nodded eagerly and said in chorus, "Uh-huh"
Carina did not wait for an answer from Declan, and just nodded, "Yep please do." She called out to one of the elves that too had a thing for spreading rumours, "Nice hair cut Ida!" She nodded slightly putting her right hand to her hip, clearly annoyed with Deryn. Why did she have to come and ruin the moment of erm peace? She said for Declan, as he was an odd little fellow in an almost Alabamian accent, "His name's Declan, and he's in Gryffindor too." She nodded slightly.

Declan looked from this new, older girl, Deryn, and then back at Carina. He nodded when he heard Carina answer for him. He glanced back up at the older girl. She seemed to be pretty nice. Declan, not wanting to look like a coward in front of Carina, spoke up.
"Hello, there, mate!" he said cheerfully, "I was jus' wonderin' how to get to the Common Room. It's me first day here, you see." He looked once again up at the great stair cases, hoping that it wouldn't be too far up.

Carina nodded and said with a half giggle, "I've been here three weeks and I still don't know where the common room is... somewhere on the seventh floor for sure." She nodded slightly, looking at the older student for reassurance. She threw her curls back, annoyed deeply by them. Then it came to her, seven floors, what was I thinking carrying the suitcase up all of them. She widdened her eyes slightly at the thought looking at the ground before back at Declan then Deryn then away again. For the first time in a while, Carina was speechless.

(OOC: LAME POST ALERT!!! sorry guys, i just couldn't think of anything)
Declan looked up again. He tried to count the staircases up to seven, but kept getting mixed up, everytime they moved. Either way, it seemed a very long way up. He glanced back between the girls, and then to the stairs in front of him.
"Are we gonna stand here all day, or are we goin' up?" he asked, starting up the stairs, withouth the slightest idea of where he was going.

((ooc: Well.... I say that was a kodak moment.. -clicks camera- that my friend, before was my WORST POST EVER! I've seen worse.... a starting point >>> Cho smiled <<<< that was her post -shiver-)) Carina looked up at the stairs, her head tilted making her hair fall in front of her face. She pouted, "But its not curfew yet, outside is much better." But she shrugged as he started up the stairs. If there was anything she hated about the school it was the staircases. If they didn't move so often, she would have known her way around fine. But those dang things just kept moving. Carina followed him up the stairs slowly, her deep brown eyes glancing at random pictures on the way. She waved at a few of them, but some she waved at hid behind desks in their photos. She scrowled slightly. She didn't scare that many people, did she? Shrugging it off, she waited for Der.... ermm... what was her name again? She was never good with names, and today was no exception. Carina would probably forget Declan's name by the end of the week.

"Wait a minute. What's there to do outside?" he asked, stopping on the stairs. He didn't really want to go up all those stairs just yet. He wanted to get some idea of his surroundings before classes started again. He knew for a fact that he would be late to his first class, no matter what it was. He'd never find the darn room, and when he did, it would be 10 minutes after the class had started. Declan looked back at Carina, wondering about outside. He hoped there was something to do, other then just walking around.

Carina stopped in her tracks eagerly and said excitily, a bit fast, “Well, there is the lake, the fields, the greenhouses, and ermmm… the Forbidden Forest.” She looked at the older student, not caring if she would stop her from such stupid motions, “I’ve heard that the Forbidden Forest is full of big spiders.” She smiled, a bit strange. Girls her age were dead terrified of spiders, but the meer thought of large spiders seemed to please her. She added hastily, “Noone listens to the rules anyways.”
Carina’s dark eyes looked out the window mischieviously. Perfect. A day in which a few inches of fresh packing snow had been laid upon the ground. Smirking slightly to herself, she said, “Snow ball fights are always fun.” She nodded slightly before looking back out the window, the sky was darkening quickly, and if they wanted to do anything before the sunset and first year curfew was to begin, then they had to leave now.

Declan glanced at Deryn who had her back to them, and then gave Carina a mischievous smile. He nodded towards the door, and began to sneak away from Deryn quitely so that she wouldn't turn around. He had made it all the way to the great oak doors and creaked it open. The cool air came blowing in and he motioned to Carina to follow him and he bolted out the door and into the grounds.
