"If I were a real student, the school would have records on me, right?" Drew answered with a shrug. The Ravenclaw decided to tail the guy and make sure he didn't start poking around in places he shouldn't. "And who's to say I'm not a student and a member of the Deva?" That was the bigger question. Drew knew they were plenty of Deva floating around all over the school.

"Records can be forged." He said absentmindedly. He kept his back to the boy, still looking intently down the hallway.
"And I don't think you're part of the Deva. Almost all the Deva's I've met have asked me within the first five minutes of conversation what my last name is. You seem to have not. Also the fact that you're not a...Slytherin? Yes, a Slytherin also helps me to think that you are not." He shifted the weight from one foot to the other.
"Does an Emily Cross ever come to the school?" He asked the boy, his back still to him.

"Only Slytherins are Deva?" Drew challenged, thinking that was a dangerous assumption to make. "And seeing as you are an Auror with a distinctive look, perhaps I don't need to ask your name. You didn't bother getting mine."
The name he threw out sounded familiar, but Drew wasn't sure at first where he had heard it. Then it clicked. She had been that snooty money-bags in the library. He hadn't trusted her either. "That socialite chick?" he asked.

"So she's been here eh?" He said, smiling. "Blackard was right." He went back to his bag and pulled out a rumpled sheet of parchment, a quill, and some ink. He scribbled out a note and sent it off.
"And if you are so inclined. I'm Brodie Wickliff." He hastily stuck his hand out to the boy whilst shoving the writing implements back into his bag.

"I never said she was here," Drew answered. "Her name is plastered across the society pages half the time, opening up this hospital wing or funding that charity." He eyed the man again and debated giving him a fake name, but also figuring if the guy was on the level, he might be a good contact to have.
And if he wasn't, possibly a better one.
"Drew Thornton. Nice to meet you," he said, mostly out of habit as he shook the man's hand. "And yeah... that Cross lady was here, nosing around with some story about funding our quidditch teams."

He nodded, picking his bag up and throwing it over his shoulder. "Now Mr. Thornton, if you could be so kind as to point me in the direction of the Headmisstresses office I won't bother you any longer."

Drew shrugged in response, still thinking that Raynor would be a better person to talk to. If anything, she was around more often. "Towers. The entrance is guarded by a griffin statue, but I don't know the password."

He nodded to the boy, walking towards the steps. "Thanks mate." He started up the staircase, looking both ways. Not seeing another soul.
He turned back around, looking at Drew. "How many floors this place got?" He asked, trying to get an idea of how winded he would be by the time he met the Headmisstress.

"Uh... seven, not counting the towers," Drew answered as he took note of the staircase the guy was using. "And you won't get anywhere going that way. That staircase just loops back on itself on Wednesdays."

He looked down at the staircase. "It loops around? Geez, it is going to take me ages to get used to this place.." He laughed slightly.
"Could you tell me which one will take me to the towers?" Brodie asked, walking down the stairs.

"Easy," Drew answered, pointing down the hall. "Take this hallway down, make a left at the picture of dragons playing poker, take the stairs at the end of the hall there, turn left, then right then left again... take the stairs behind the tapestry on the left three flights, go down that hall 'til you see the stairs on the right. Go down two flights and make a right and a left and another left and a right and then take those stairs up to the top. At the end of the hall there is the Headmistress's office."

His eyes widened at the boy's directions. "Merlin's beard! Those are some complicated directions. Does the school do alot of movement like that?" He asked, still quite amazed at the directions.

"Yeah, pretty much," Drew answered with a shrug. After four years, he was kind of used to it. "After you get past the Headmistress's gargoyle, then it's another staircase up to her office, but that one just kind of spirals you up there."

"Getting lost will have a whole new meaning." He muttered to himself as he walked up to Drew. Passing him he gave him a tip of his hat.
"Thank you again Drew." And he was off, trying to remember the boy's directions as best as possible. This school was way to weird for him.

"No problem," Drew answered with another shrug. "If you do get lost, just ask one of the portaits. Most of them are pretty helpful as long as you don't mess with them too much."
