Drew usually made it a habit to come to meals early, his stomach making demands well before anyone else thought of eating. It didn't matter to much. The house elves usually had bowls of fruit or plates of crackers set out just in case and the Ravenclaw managed to keep his belly occupied until the actual meal was served.
Keeping the rest of himself occupied was a different story of course. This evening he found himself actually under the table with a couple of apples on his lap, wondering if anyone else was going to stop by this early.

Emerald walked sheepishly around the corner with Celina. She was busy with homework or something she had to do in the common room quickly before dinner and Emerald was not being paid attention to. Meowing slightly, she heard her voice echo off of the walls of the Great hall. Startled, she ran into the Great Hall under the nearest table and ran right into someone, who was interestingly enough under the table. Emerald looked up at him with her big green eyes, and wondered if she remembered this human sitting in front of her. His smell was familliar she realized as she smelled his pant leg and then instantly relized whom it was. She climbed into his lap pushing the apples he held aside and laid down.
------------------------------
Emerald was no where to be found and instantly Celina noticed that the common room door was shutting ever so slightly as if something had sneaked out. Oh, great, Celina said as she realized that Emerald probably escaped toward the Great Hall for dinner. Emerald knew she wasn't allowed down there, especially during meal time, but she never seemed to listen everytime Celina told her something. Fearing someone could spot her, she took off toward the Great Hall.
Nearing the doors of the Greaet Hall, she slowed her pace and breathed evenly for a minute, as if to regain her composure. She entered the hall, quietly calling, "Emerald....Em, where are you?" Knowing she was in here she didn't move for a few minutes waiting for a meow to call to her...a meow which never came.

Drew saw the cat sniffing around and wasn't surprised she came over, making herself at home on his lap. She was a lot more outgoing than her owner.
It wasn't long before Celina's voice was heard, of course looking for Emerald. Drew bent over a little to see the girl's feet and decided to have a little fun. He put one handup and over the top of the table, facing her like the world's cheapest puppet. "Emerald's busy," his hand told her in a high pitched voice.

Arianna was exhausted. After lying on the floor of one of the towers all afternoon crying, she really needed a good meal and then to head off to bed. She didn't even care if anyone saw how red her eyes were, or that her nose was still dripping. She would just ignore them if they asked anything or gave her any looks. But even with her current mood, Arianna couldn't help but wonder if someone else had lost it worse that she had when she saw someone's hand puppet show.
"She's not snuggling with Juni, is she?" Arianna couldn't help asking as she moved to sit down. She meant it as a joke, but it came out more somber and a little grumpier than she had wanted. Though she had been sure to give Juni his regular dose of potions, Arianna was starting worry, on top of everything else, if it was still doing any good."

As she passed between the tables looking for Emerald, a hand popped up over the side of the Ravenclaw table. Celina jumped and almost fell over backwards as the hand, which she had not noticed, started speaking to her in a highly pitched, but familiar voice. After her heart regained a normal rate, she sat down on the bench of the table and sighed. This was going to be interesting, Celina thought to herself not knowing whether or not she really wanted to look under the table. Anyone down there was obviously either hiding for some reason, or just asking for someone to flip out on them. Either way, she was not amused.
Almost scared to look, Celina decided to lay with her back on the bench and just turn her head to look over at whomever was under the table, with, more than likely her cat. As she eased herself back as to not fall off the bench or anything else just as ridiculous, she relaxed as she turned her head over to see none other than Drew Thornton with her cat laying on his lap and purring nonstop. A shot of nervousness shot through her system. Drew and Celina really hadn't talked since that night in the common room and there he was just sitting with Emerald on his lap. Stunned and completely dumbfounded, Celina’s mouth opened slightly and she turned her head back to look at the ceiling. Well that figures she thought to herself. He wasn’t the worst person she could have found sitting under the table, but definitely wasn’t her first guess.
Arianna entered the hall as she lay there on the bench. She almost didn’t notice her until she asked about her cat, Juni. Celina was breathing a little harder and trying to gulp without choking due to the way she was laying. She stumbled over her words as she quietly said, "No…nope….definitely not Juni.”

Drew didn't seem to notice that Celina had found his hiding place, but his hand didn't seem to like it very much. "Pay no attention to the man under the table!" the hand told the girls as it looked from one to the other. "So just why are you here tonight?" it continued. Of course, it had no eyeballs, but it could still tell that Arianna was upset over something.

"Food..." Arianna replied, giving the hand a funny look. What else would she be down here, around dinnertime, for? She knew Drew was the one trying to entertain them, but she wasn't so sure she wanted entertainment tonight. That's not to say she didn't need any. It would do her some good to laugh today.
Her gaze then feel upon Celina, who seemed to be acting a little....strangely.
"You doing okay?" Arianna asked, though she really did not feel like bothering with anyone else's problems right now.

Celina arose from where she was laying noticing that the older Ravenclaw was obviously upset. "Yea.” Celina replied. “Are you?" she quietly asked, concern instantly plastered on her face. Celina and Ari had only talked once and a while. Being the same house however, meant that they at least had some basic knowledge of each other.
Emerald arose from her resting place as well as she stretched and kneaded at Drew's legs slightly. She left from under the table at the sound of Juni's name, wondering where he was if they were speaking of him. Ever since they had met, Emerald had always kept her eye out for Juni. It had seemed that she actually had taken a liking to the male cat. At this, Celina would often shake her head and laugh before telling Emerald that she didn't mind and to go and play. It got Emerald doing something when Celina was so busy with other work.
So, why are you here tonight? Drew's hand asked the girls. Celina just didn't know how to respond to the hand. She sighed and shook her head. Looking back at the other Ravenclaw, she wanted to somehow help, but really had no idea how to, and answering Drew's hand was really...well, out of the question at the moment for Celina. She gestured to the other girl to sit down next to her at the table. Maybe, just company would help, she thought to herself.

Drew's hand thoguht that the girls were being a little rude ignoring it, but decided that mentioning it would be even more rude. It was well aware that many people were handists and there was little it could do to change that particular prejudice. It rested itself on the table top, hoping to be included in on the conversation again.

Handists? How dare the hand think Arianna was a handist? She liked hands. As much as one could without being obsessed. She had once seen a movie in which the main character was so obsessed with a guy's hands, Arianna had had to turn the movie off before she could see exactly what the girl had planned for the guy. She was sure she wouldn't like it, though. There would be none of that here, of course, but she wasn't trying to go the other extreme and ignore the poor guyhand. That was just mean. She also couldn't ignore Celina's questions, either.
"I will be," Arianna answered simply, shrugging slightly. It was then that she caught sight of the hand across the table, looking a little lonely and dejected. She had to cheer him up. So she reached her own hand across, making her own little hand puppet, of course, and gave it a kiss on the kuckle.
"Please, sir," she mustered up as much funniness as she could, but still could not hide her mood behind the hand's voice. "Continue with your show. I want to watch."

Celina couldn't believe the turn of events, but if that what she wanted to keep her mind off of her sadness, Celina would not object. She just sat back and watched on the side. It was silly how Ari turned her hand into a puppet to bring back to life what looked like a pretty dead hand. Celina picked up Emerald who still walked around aimlessly on the floor, "Look Em," she whispered into the cat's ears. "It's like a fairy tale and how true love's first kiss brings the victim back to life." Celina never liked those kinds of sotries. They were to simple, and at the end everyone loved each other with no reason not to. It wasn't all like it was in real life. People had to work hard to get where they were going in life, and Celina hated the fact that they simplified it so much.
However, watching the puppet show being played out in front of her was rather amusing, she had to admit that to herself. She felt a bit awkward and out of place with the two other Ravenclaws, but what was new. When trying to make friends one had to hang out with different people. She held on to Emerald tightly, only to losen her grip and look around. A sadness crossed her face as she looked at her cat, half listening to the show that was being performed, and she put the cat down and looked away from her.

Drew's hand flopped over in the extacy of being kissed and let out a happy sigh. It actually was like a fairy tale only instead of the princess being brought back, it was the hand-some prince.
"Show? What show? This is just who I am," the hand insisted, but if the ladies wanted to be entertained... "Of course, I can sing a song if you'd like."

Strolling into the Great Hall, the Gryffindor decided to make a stop before going to her own, very lonely, empty table. Her eyes had spotted Celina and she had to ask the girl about the Defense Against the Dark Arts homework, because the parchment she had written her own on had been mysteriously lost in the scramble to find something to scribble a note on. Sitting down on the other side of her, she smiled at the crazy Ravenclaw, not yet realizing the show she was intruding on.
"Celina," she started. "Do you remember what the Defense home..." she trailed off looking across the table. Raising an eyebrow, she looked back to the girl. "What's going on?" she whispered. The brown-eyed girl hadn't picked up on who it was yet under the table putting on the little show, but she was beginning to wonder if the person had drunk the water recently.

Celina stared at the hand in amazement. Not only did it get up, but it asked if the girls wanted to hear a song. Being a high pitched version of Drew's voice, she didn't really know how that one would turn out. Then, to Celina's relief, she heard a familiar voice, Celina, do you remember what the Defcense home..... The girl trailed off as Celina peeled her eyes away from the show.
As she looked at the blond, she noticed her eyes slightly narrow as she inquired about what was going on. "Really Felicity, I couldn't tell you. I came into the hall looking for Emerald, and of course found her in Drew's lap." Celina scoffed lightly as not to offend anyone as she watched Emerald walk around in circles in front of her. She wouldn't pick her up, not now. She looked back to the show, "Ok, what songs can you sing?" Celina softly asked the hand, she could at least humor the, what must be, bored Ravenclaw.

At the arrival of a third girl, Drew's hand almost ran away out of embarassment, not quite sure it wanted to sing in front of the Gryffindor. In the end, it decided it might as well. Besides, it had to do something nice for Arianna's hand which had given him a kiss.
"Well, I'm glad you asked," the hand answered and it sat up on the table very tall, trying to look important. It gave a short cough to clear it's palm and then started. "STOP! in the naaame of love! Before you break my heart! Think it oh over... Think it oh over..."
The girls didn't know it could dance as well...
