It was probably the first Christmas that Alfonz could remember Celina wearing a long sleeved turtle neck shirt, and a pair of nice dress pants. Normally, his younger sister wore a dress, for any and ever occasion that wasn’t just casual. But maybe this was somewhat casual? A nice dinner for two siblings, possibly some dancing or harp playing for entertainment, and then they’d end the night with some opening of gifts, just as they would have if they were at home. It was a perfect evening, but one that didn’t come without a price all the same.
Celina had been invited to another gathering. One in which she had wanted to attend, but knew better not to ask it from Alfonz. She knew that Christmas was for family, and Alfonz couldn’t help if none of her friend’s families were on campus. Nor could he help it if he took great joy from stripping her of being able to go. No, Celina never argued, and never said anything about it but a mere peep. Celina mentioned, but was quick to say that she wasn’t going to go. Not when the night should have been spent at her brother’s side, just as the day was. Blood is thicker than water… it was a phrase their father used to commonly preach, and one the Jedynak siblings would always live by.
“Did you tell anyone you were not attending?” Alfonz asked as he watched his sister from his leaning position against the armchair that was in his quarters. Alfonz had wondered all day if she had told anyone he’d be with him instead of with them almost wondering what would bring him more amusement to know. Alfonz didn’t know who all was attending the gathering, but he could have guessed a few, and those few were enough to smugly smirk about. If she hadn’t told anyone, they’d be sitting and waiting… or at least one would be. But if she had told them, then they would outright know where her loyalties would forever lie. They had abandoned her just about a year ago when he came into the staff of Hogwarts… did they truly think she’d ever forget?
