Sure some might think him mad for going to the Yule by himself dateless and friendless. Well I suppose if you did put it that way it did sound just a tad pathetic... okay maybe very pathetic. But of course that hadn't stopped Nick from dressing up for the occasion he figured who said you had to go with someone to ball to have fun anyways. Not that he wouldn't have minded the company but he wasn't about to let that ruin his evening either. It still wasn't that late and their was still plenty of time to waste away getting lost in the attractions not to mention all the food imaginable.
Was their really any way not to have fun around the holidays then again Nick always had fun if he had a say in the matter. He could still recall the shocked expression on his mother's face when he'd told her he'd be going to the Yule on his own. She'd tried to insist that he should have at least asked someone to the dance and their just had to have been a girl he was interested in. He'd merely laughed and given his mother a kiss on the cheek who could blame her she was rather old-fashioned and set in her ways. His cousin had almost come with him but at the last minute had decided just to stay home or perhaps he'd show up later but Nick doubted he would which is how he found himself in Diagon Alley friendless and dateless.
Nick figured he'd run into someone he knew and even if he didn't that didn't mean he couldn't run into some new people and strike up a conversation. Spotting a cart that seemed to be selling silly santa claus hats he ran over and bought up. With a silly grin upon his face he put it on his head he really was a fool for the holidays and didn't really care that he was or how other's percieved him. If he did care he'd probably always be embarrassed everytime he'd shown up to a class in pj bottoms or spilled ink on his clothes to name a few.
