Dean wasn't the only one who found her mustache amusing; the barkeep was chuckling rather giddily, too. Keagan noticed, but didn't think much of it until her lip started to itch. She wiggled it around a bit, her nose twitching. Then she saw the barkeeper out of the corner of her eye. Apparently, he'd decided to be helpful. The man, bless his heart was gesturing to his own lip, and wiping away something invisible in his own mustache with small upward motions. The Gryffindor mimicked the gesture, only to find her finger come away wet. Horrified, she quickly wiped away the rest of the foamy residue, her face blazing.
"It should be easier for you than for me." She stuttered through her statement, trying to maintain composure through her mortification. "I had to convince my instructors that I had caught up on all the information I had missed in the last six years that forced me to do so abysmally on my OWLs. There are still some classes they wouldn't let me into."

Dean sent a grin at the barkeep as he saw from the corner of his eye that the man was motioning to Keagan about her mustache. He had been planning on telling the girl himself if she didn't realize it within the next few seconds. Dean let Keag continue on with the conversation without embarassing her even further by saying something about it. He half shrugged as Keag told him it would be easier for him then her to get back into the swing of things with more classes. He nodded, then asked, " So what classes did you add, then? "

"Quite a bit, actually. Herbology and DADA, before it was eliminated. The new Gryffindor Head let me into Charms. He's a great bloke. Potions was the tricky one. I never really got up the nerve to ask her myself, so I never got into the actual class. Do you remember Jamboreema? She's a tough cookie. I've been doing some independent study in that, though, hoping they'll let me take the NEWT exam. That's an important class."
Keagan was babbling, now, still trying to recover from her near death-by-embarrassment experience. "Are you going to try getting back into all your classes?"

Dean nodded casually as Keag listed to classes she had just recently added. " Wait.. " He said, interupting her slightly before she said something else after saying how potions was important. " They eliminated Defense Against the Dark Arts? But why? " Dean looked puzzled because even though he had heard some rumors about Professor Raynor and her class, he hadn't been too sure of what to believe until he heard it from someone else, and Keag was as reliable a source as ever so he figured she would be able to tell him.

"Oh yeah. You didn't hear about that?" Keagan replied, suddenly riled. "The uppities up at the Ministry of Magic decided the class was too controversial and pointless. Decided teaching us to defend ourselves in a class advocating the use of a wand on an enemy was a threat to our safety.' A choice word escaped Keagan's lips following her tyrade, but perhaps the softness of the exclamation and the shake of her head that followed were enough to mask her lapse of maturity. "The Deputy's response is what got her in trouble."

Dean looked interested as Keagan took on a fierce look. He could tell even before she started to tell him the story that she was clearly outraged by the events that lead to the class being taken away. He shook his head slightly as she went on about what had happened. " That is a load of... " Dean trailed off, his next few words weren't exactly PG. " He couldn't believe it. Defense was one of the best classes in the school in his opinion, not only interesting but helpful as well. It seemed like the ministry didn't want them to be preprared.
" What's she do? I bet she was angry. " He grinned slightly, knowing Raynor wouldn't have taken that from the ministry.

Keagan may have tried to cover her cussing, but Dean certainly didn't, and Keagan smirked at it. "Yes, it is," she agreed, nodding her head. "It's like a repeat of the Ministry's poorer choices back in the 90s."
Now she shook her head, knowing that the action regarding Raynor was just one more thing to count against the government of Wizarding Britain. "She didn't do anything less than one would expect from her, knowing her personality and determination. She marched right down to the Ministry and told them where to go." Sure, maybe she was editorializing a bit, but she knew that the papers couldn't be trusted to tell the whole truth.

Dean shook his head again, " Yes, and we all saw where that got them, " He cleared his throat slightly out of pure annoyance towards the Ministry. They were making the same mistakes, and last time it had gotten them nowhere but in trouble. He didn't think it made any sense. He noticed her smirk and just shook his head with a slight grin on his face. He nodded as Keag went on to explain Raynor's reaction to the Ministry's taking away of her class. " So what happened to her after she said that to them? " He questioned.

"They put her on trial," Keagan replied, still fuming. "I'm sure those dimwits shipped her off to Azkaban right quick, too."
Raynor had been a favorite instructor of the Gryffindor's as well, even though the seventh year had initially flunked out of that class. She had trouble imagining someone not liking the petite ex-Auror; her no-nonsense attitude was actually kind of endearing.

Dean shook his head, " That's just stupid.. " He said, finding the antics of the Ministry of Magic to be nothing short of ridiculous. " So why don't they think we need Defense, anyway? I thought... I've heard some rumors about.. war. Know anything about it? " He asked, thinking of some of the things he had heard and wondered if Keagan had heard the same things, too.
It might just be talk, but one could never be too sure when it came to something like this. It reminded him of in the 90's when there was the war between the Order and the Death Eaters. Taking another drink out of his bottle, Dean turned back to Keagan. He was thinking of that war, it hadn't been all that long ago in the grand scheme of things.

"I probably only know as much on that topic as you do, and not from sources I really trust, either," Keagan replied as she hunched more over the bar, stirring her cocoa. The professors were keeping their own thoughts to themselves on the topic, for the most part, though Keagan had witnessed some interactions between them that might suggest they still had thoughts on the topic. It was kind of spooky thinking that she might graduate only to then enter a world at war, or at least a world full of danger.
