Sonja had just been wandering around Diagon Alley with absolutely nothing to do. She walked past all her favourite stores, including Madame Malkin's, groaning as she did so. She really wanted to go shopping, but now she'd suddenly learned to be careful spending lots and it sucked. "I miss my money," Sonja muttered trudging past the window reluctantly. Up ahead, another favourite store called to Sonja but she forced herself out of the path of the door and concentrated on the book store, something that was foreign to Sonja. Oh well, maybe she'd come back when she actually had a job.
"Oh bugger," Sonja grumbled to herself, seeing an all-too-familiar face in front of her. She was coming toward Sonja, and the girl had no where to hide. If she ducked into a shop, she'd buy something she didn't need but if she stayed in the street, she'd be spotted. Oh, stop being such a child, Sonja scolded her, just say hi. With another groan, Sonja forced herself to smile and act surprised.
"Beni?" she asked, knowing full well it was that ruddy ex-Gryffindor.

"Do do do, skip to my newt! Do do do, skip to my newt...." However messed up and edited that old song was, it was being sung by Beni as if it was the oldest song in the book. When it came down to the fact that her owl was still in her parent's house, supposedly being kept captive in order to keep it from going on more owling missions ("You must let that poor thing rest, Beni Bear!!" was the usual chant from Shery), she had to go to the next step other than stealing one of her friends' owls for the moment: off the post office! And so that was the route being taken, on down to Diagon where the only person she had planned to talk to was the post office man (after just having random chats with people on the streets and clerks she knew).
The new development here? The bloody blonde of Slytherin. Or ex-Slytherin. Beni quit her happy and raised her eyebrow as she was in front of the girl. "Sonja. Nice to see you again in this side of my life," she with exaggeration. No way. No how.

Sonja picked up on that tone in her voice and knew the girl wasn't happy to see her. She couldn't blame Beni; Sonja hadn't been the nicest person in the short time they went to school together. With a slight sigh, Sonja wondered how she'd be able to fix this. "Well, you look great Beni," Sonja told her, actually telling the truth, "It's good to see you again. How've you been?"

She sighed. There was just something about Sonja Wright that she couldn't get over, even with her attempt at what seemed to be the impression of a nice person. It had been almost a year and a half it seemed since she encountered Sonja in the owlery and got stunned by her after they argued over the Deej. Oh, the Deej, she thought, remembering why they hadn't liked each other in the first place. But considering that the boy Slytherin hadn't been in her mind romantically for about more than a year, she couldn't quite find the point in having this semi-vendetta towards the girl.
Well...
"I've been super good since I last saw you. You know, working my career and what not... not getting stunned since then," she said with a raise of the eyebrows like it was an overstated accomplishment. "That makes it quite good. Should I ask about you?"

Biting her lip and trying to stay pleasant, Sonja wondered what exactly she was supposed to say to that. "Yeah, I'm sorry about that," the girl apologized, being sincere once again even though it wasn't doing her any good, "I've grown up since then, trust me."
Not really knowing how to answer Beni's question, Sonja simply shrugged in response. What could she say for herself? "Oh yeah, I'm great. Mom died, Dad's been around the whole time and I'm poor now." Maybe not. "I've been alright," Sonja answered, not bothering to go any deeper.

Ooh, bloody great way to not sound mean, Beni, she thought to herself and immediately regretted her jabs at the blond. However, she regretted it even more to see that she wasn't well off as Beni thought. Since the days as unforutunate schoolmates, she never knew much of Sonja other than the assumption that she was a brat who got what she wanted (great example: the Deej), and to think that she didn't make Deryn any happier brought to long lasting meaness in Beni that was easy to bring out until now.
"Merlin, I'm sorry," Beni said as she lowered her head down. She didn't want to think that maybe Sonja was kidding her, because perhaps she really wasn't all that well off. "Forget what I said, alright? I've been over that for a while and I had to get some good protection training as a result, but I'm way over that and the Deej." She couldn't help but frown.

Sonja was actually taken aback by Beni's sudden change and she almost smiled at her until the name was mentioned; the reason they had hated each other. The Deej. It still hurt, thinking about what Sonja had done to him. She hated that she had been so cruel to him when he hadn't done anything to deserve it. And she'd taken him away from Beni when she wasn't even with him that long. Her heart sank slightly at the memory.
"Have you talked to him lately?" Sonja asked curiously, looking down ever so slightly as she spoke.

Dwelling on the Deej was sort of an odd subject to think about. He had been her first schoolgirl crush in Hogwarts, but it had been covered over so much after she took to realizing that maybe he liked being with a sadistic Slytherin blondie and definitely not her. Then in the series of events came the meteor crush on Ryder Hailey, the 'affair' with Willy, and the grand finale that was Ben London. So in the end, it didn't pain her to talk about him.
"The Deej? He lives in the same place as I do. Well, not literally-- he's probably two floors below me. He's become sort of a hermit loser, but don't tell him I said that," she said with a laugh. Even if he had hurt her ego without knowing it, she had to admit he was a good bloke. "But he's still around."

Sonja lit up slightly when Beni said that he was still hanging around. And close, it seemed; they lived in the same place. Sonja might have to look into it. "What place?" she asked curiously, wondering if it was affordable. If it was, Sonja was definitely moving in. She couldn't stand being in that mansion anymore, as weird as that actually sounded. Even the thought in her head sounded weird.
[bleh sorry it sucks]

(hey i don't care! ) Beni looked at her as if to stall for something. She knew it was only telling her the name, but she seemed to have that sort of expression, if Beni deciphered her body language well, maybe she wanted to find a place there. It would make sense as everyone their age was doing so as well, and so she wasn't sure how much she'd want her to be around. Then again, she negotiated with herself, How often do you see Ivy or Allegra? The building was big enough for people to not have to be too close to each other. "It's called Wendelring, in Central London in Soho," she replied, sighing internally at giving into to such information. But what could she do? She liked being benevolent. "Are you looking for a place?"

"Yeah," Sonja admitted quietly, "Kind of. How much is it?" She didn't know if she'd be able to afford it. She figured she might be able to wangle some money out of her father, but contacting him was the last thing Sonja wanted to do. If she could avoid seeing him for a very long time, Sonja would do whatever it took. She would even get a job, as scary as that seemed.

"Well, my boyfriend and I pay about sixty-six galleons for our apartment, even if Ana, my mum, insists on lowering the price." Her adoptive mother tended to bother her about it, but she insisted on keeping it that way to be fair and reserve that favor for if the two were in a real penny pinch. "But she also said a two bedroom is about seventy. Most people try to pull that off with a roommate, though."

Roommate. The idea of having to share a living space with someone didn't really tickle Sonja all that much. She was used to having her huge house where she could do anything and go anywhere. No restrictions, nothing denied. But with someone else in a room with her, she didn't know if she'd be able to handle that. Deep down, she still wanted to be spoiled but now Sonja knew that that might not be the way things would work for her now. She sighed, contemplating whether or not she'd attempt a roomie.
"That sounds alright, I guess," Sonja said finally, not sounding all that thrilled about the idea.

"Yeah, it's pretty great," Beni said, passing over her lack of enthusiasm. She might as well sell the idea to her. "Unless you're Charon and Reina, of course. But if you find yourself a roomate, they can't all be that bad. You might even find that you like them." She nodded and decided she might as well give her some more information for the building. She pulled out the agenda from her bag and scribbled something quick. "Here's the address, the landlady's name, and my apartment number. I'm sure you'll find something in no time."
