After closing up for the night at the Quidditch supplies store, Chad popped into the Leaky Cauldron for a drink or two before heading back home to Wendelring. So far he liked the place. The neighbours were nice enough and Chad had even noticed there were some lovely ladies around there. He rolled his eyes at himself, wondering why that was the first thing he thought of. He was getting better at not being such a player, but sometimes he just couldn't help it.
"Firewhiskey, please," Chad ordered as he sat down on a stool at the bar, twirling around on it like a child with nothing better to do. He spun around a few times until he stopped and realized his drink was on the counter. Dropping the change on the bar, Chad picked up his drink and took a sip, feeling it burn slightly on the way down. If nothing else, his father did teach him one thing he remembered; if it burns on the way down, its worth drinking.
Sitting and sipping, Chad glanced around the bar at the shady creatures that currently inhabited it. Some of them were amusing to watch but a few were downright scary to even look at. Chad's eyes just glanced over those ones. As he sat there looking around, he felt incredibly alone. A sigh escaped him as he thought of his parents, wondering if they were up there somewhere, watching him and rolling their eyes at what he had become. At least Alfred was proud of him. It was better than nothing and Chad would have rathered that Alfred was proud instead of his parents.

Oh, the joys of getting a paycheck! Allegra had spent her day off shopping and was thrilled with some of the great finds she had purchased with just a few galleons. The first stop had been the book store where she found a great Quidditch book for her brother's birthday as well as a number of slightly trashy novels for herself. She made a stop at the stationary store to buy a new quill and some ink, wandered up to the pet store to look at the kneazle kittens and buy some owl treats for Snip and Bogey as well as a chase toy for Juni. She popped into Madam Malkins and found a pretty set of robes she could wear to work and took a look in the music store to see if they had the latest recording of her favorite singer.
Packages in hand, she finally realized how late it was getting and knew she had to get home. It was never a good idea to be out alone after dark, especially not in this day and age. She entered into the Leaky Cauldron and wrinkled her nose a little, finding the pub musty after being outside most of the day, and wove her way through the patrons trying her best not to bump anyone with her shopping.
RIIIIIIIIP.... The bag of books caught on the corner of a table spilling all of her purchases from Flourish and Botts as well as some of the smaller items she had placed inside. Books, treats, quill and a rather annoying squeaky mouse tumbled onto the floor only to be splattered with her brand new bottle of cerulean ink which broke with a crash. With a growl of frustration, she sank to the floor, attempting to salvage something from the mess. It was her first paycheck and now it was ruined.

Chad glanced around as he heard the door open and saw the girl who'd entered. He watched her for a moment over his shoulder, trying to make it not obvious what he was doing. He watched as she began to come towards him, but her bag caught and Chad knew there was no good way for this to end.
Springing up, Chad was the first one beside her, bent down trying to help her get all her stuff back and cleaned off. Pulling his wand out of his back pocket, Chad muttered a spell as he pointed his wand at the crushed bottle of ink and it fixed itself, taking all the ink back into the bottle as the tiny pieces put themselves together. Reaching out, Chad picked up what looked like a squeaky mouse and handed it to the girl with a chuckle. "Here's your...uhh...mouse," he stuttered, grinning at her as he held it out.

{your name just changed colors!}
Allegra sighed in exasperation, brushing a strand of hair out of her face which left a bright blue streak across her forehead. Most of the ink had been returned to its bottle, but a good bit of it was still splattered on her books. She could probably deal with the ink stained novels, but she was a little frustrated about her brother's ruined birthday present. Who knew when she'd be able to get back down to London to replace it?
She managed to fix her bag with a quick Repario and was slowly repacking her things inside when she reached for the offered mouse, finally looking at the man who was helping her. She gave a small nervous laugh as she took back the cat toy and tucked it into her bag. "Thank you," she said with a soft smile as she felt her cheeks pink up.

[new staff ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) i'm cool] Chad chuckled slightly as the girl took the mouse from him and he noticed the blue streak across her forehead and couldn't help but smile slightly. He felt bad for her, he knew what it was like to make such a big mess like this. It was pretty much his specialty. "You got a little..." Chad began, motioning to her forehead where the streak of blue was, "D'you mind?" Chad offered to clean it off for her with a simple spell he'd picked up from back home with Alfred.

"What? ... Oh..." Allegra answered, putting her hand back up to her head only to see the ink on her fingers and figuring it out. She actually did mind having a wand pointed at her, especially by someone she didn't even know, but she didn't want to be rude when the man offered so nicely to help her out. "I'll get it later with some soap and water," she said sheepishly. "A little smudge never hurt anyone, right?" Of course, she didn't know how little her little smudge actually was...
"Thanks for your help," she said again, wiping her hand on the side of her robe. She wasn't usually this big of a slob, but there really weren't very many other options at the moment. She could get the stains out once she got home at least. "Sorry to disturb your... " she looked up to see the glass by the empty spot where the man must have been sitting, "... drink. I probably should watch better where I'm going, right?"

"Well, it could have been worse," Chad told her with a smile, standing up and offering her a hand, "You could have tripped over your own feet and fallen completely on your face. But then again, that's usually my job." Chad flashed the girl a friendly grin and chuckled softly, knowing full well how much of a klutz he actually was. For a Quidditch player with such good balance on a speeding broom, Chad was pretty much useless when it came to walking on flat ground.
"You weren't disturbing anything," he began to reassure her, "Glad to be of some service anyways. Would you like to sit?" The man motioned to the empty seat next to where he had been sitting before she'd come into the bar.

"Trust me, I've been there," Allegra admitted. "I've never actually fallen on my face in the literal sense, but I've come pretty close plenty of times." She gladly took the offered hand and pulled herself up before releasing the man's hand (quickly checking to make sure she didn't get any ink on him) to dust herself off.
She smiled at the invitation but answered a little coyly. "I don't ususally drink with strange men," she said with a small smirk.

Chad chuckled as she confessed to having had a few klutz moments as well, although apparently she was better at it than he was. He pulled her up as she gripped his hand and he noticed her checking it for ink. Chad smiled at the courtesy.
"Well, it's a good thing I'm not strange then, eh?" Chad replied with a sly grin and a wink before he extended his hand again for a proper greeting, "Chadwick. Or, just Chad. Pleasure to meet you, miss..."

"Thornton. Allegra. Nice to meet you," she answered aimiably, taking the offered seat and placing her bags on the floor by her feet. "Of course, no one ever said strange was so bad, you know?" When the bartender came by she ordered a butterbeer and turned to take a better look at the man sitting next to her. "So what brings you to the Leaky Cauldron, Chad?" she asked.

"Just a wind-down after a day at work," Chad answered, taking a sip of his drink. Taking note of what she ordered, Chad reached into his pocket and pulled out some change, placing it on the bar for the bartender as he brought her drink to her. "It's on me," Chad told Allegra with a grin, "And what brings you into this fine and dingy pub this evening?" So maybe he was being a little forward by paying for her drink, but he was just being friendly. If she didn't like it, he'd understand.

"Thanks," she said, offering him a smile when he paid for her drink. It was a forward, but actually really nice gesture.
She took notice of his hands when he paid the bartender. She didn't know why they caught her eye, but they did. Nice strong hands that looked like they had actually done something with their lives instead of spent their days filling out paperwork. Not that a desk job was bad... heck, that's what she was doing... but it was nice to see a little bit of roughness on a guy's hands.
"Day off," she answered his question, taking note that he must work nearby. "I thought I'd blow my first paycheck shopping. Girly, I know, but hey, I figured I deserved it."

"Hey, you're talking to the king of blowing paychecks," Chad told her, taking another sip, "My first ever paycheck went entirely to buying rounds for a pub. I got a round and a half before it was gone completely." He snickered at himself, remembering that night and how fast he'd run from the bartender when he chased him down the street to pay for the rest of his tab. Needless to say, Chad can no longer go to that bar.
"Everyone could do with a little indulging once in a while," Chad continued, and then raised his drink to her, "More indulging, I say."

Allegra smiled as she raised her bottle and clinked his glass. "The king of blowing paychecks? I'd say so if you don't even have anything to show for it in the end." But that must have been grand to be able to treat eveyone like that. Her grandfather had done that a few times at the club, but he had been drunk off his gourd and had to pay for it in other ways when he got home to Grandmother.
"But yes, it's nice to indulge," she agreed, taking a sip from her bottle. "But I can tell you, I won't be making a habit of this. Maybe on my birthday... and Christmas... and legal holidays..." she finished with a small laugh.

Half-way through a sip, Chad laughed and nearly choked. Coughing his way back to normal breathing, Chad laugh-choked at her comment about not having anything to show for it. That wasn't entirely true. "I do have one thing to show for it," he told her, rolling up his sleeve and exposing the old scar across his forearm, "Someone wasn't happy with the half-round and decided to take it out on me because there weren't anymore free drinks."
Rolling his eyes, Chad moved the conversation onto a different topic, not wanting to get into the rest of the scars on his body. "Where are you from originally?" Chad asked her, downing the rest of his Firewhiskey, "The accent sounds like home."
