Wendelring? He thought to himself. Wasn't that where he just moved? Yes, it had been. Feeling a bit of relief wash throughout him, he nodded. "I know where that is." Of course he did, since he lived there also. But he'd let her filter that knowledge later, it was a big building after all.
Is my mouth supposed to feel warm?
It was obvious that if Shay did drink, she didn't drink firewhiskey's often. "Yes, that's why they call it firewhiskey. Most of your insides will feel warm for a while. Until the effects wear off any ways." He held her closer to him, as his mind screamed for him not to get any other ideas. You're just taking her home, and dropping her off...that's it! it yelled at him. And such was the plan...except he may find himself taking a slight detour from it, which his mind refused to acknowledge. Until then, however, he'd just make it back to Wendelring with the girl in one piece.

"Perfect," she thought out loud and to him. "Because I don't feel like explaining anyhow. I could get lost for all I care." She just hadn't expected a night where she was sure she would be playing it safe by reading a book in her apartment would turn into a drinking affair with a man who was a little more than a stranger now but all the same enigmatic. And so it wouldn't surprise her if she didn't make it home to her usual eleven o'clock limit, but a good night's sleep was sounding very tempting.
After the explanation of the effects of alcohol, she whispered an "ooooh" and nodded as if she knew all along. "Then this feels okay, too." It sounded vague the second time one heard it, but she didn't bother to clarify.

Snickering, he didn't want to know what the woman was talking about with something else that felt warm. Firewhiskey's effects were different depending on the person who drank it, and even though his curiosity was peaked as to what felt warm on the woman, his manners forbid him even to mention anything about her soft spoken statment.
Walking for a while, slowly and surely, they were making their way back. It had been silent for a while, and even though Alfonz enjoyed the silence and the night air, he figured he should say something...anything. "Which apartment am I walking you to, my lady?" his tone soft and growled, as there was a slight jest on the 'my-lady' part he laughed a bit looking at the young woman.

"You, my dear seƱor," she said before stifling a giggle herself as she did catch on to his humor. "Are taking me to the third-- or fourth-- or second?-- floor. Either way, it's called 301. Seriously, I wish the floor system was the same like it is in Mexico. In Mexico, ground floor is the first floor. Not its own floor. Ay, te digo..." She rolled her eyes, but still oblivious to her rambles.
(*Ugh, let me tell you.)

301? "301? That's interesting," he said out loud only moments after realizing that the apartment he had just moved into just days before was apartment 302. He kept walking with her and spoke softly, "I just moved into this area myself. I've always lived in London....on the outskirts actually. But I just moved into the Wendelring building...in apartment 302." He looked at her and tried to meet with her eyes.
"So, I think I can get you home alright," he said as if he had been deciding whether or not he actually was going to take her. It was his manners that he took her back, nothing more. Nothing more, he kept reminding himself.

"Really now?" she widened her eyes and smiled a little. "I'll be seeing you more than I expected, then. That also makes feel a little better," she added, but didn't know how to explain it. It would seem naive to try to, though. She meant it because she perhaps thought that knowing that he lived in the same building lessened his chances of being a psycho capable of hurting her. But she knew in her mind that it didn't and so she left it off there. And if anything, she was just as capable of committing some damage to him.
Of course, she wouldn't try to think of it there. "I'm glad you're taking me, though. I have to thank you, really, for the... lovely evening."

As she tanked him, he felt himself recoil all over again. It reminded him of the information he had learned throughout the night. The fact that she was a half blood, the fact that she was living at Wendelring and the fact that she had a job for the Prophet. He had needed her for the conversation, but why now did he still stick with her? Because it's your responsibility to take her home. You bought the drinks, he told himself. Yet again, he tried to convince himself that it was nothing more and as soon as he got her back to her apartment, he'd leave and there would be it. There would be no more he'd have use for her, and he would leave it at that.
But then there was that side of him that argued with his logic. No you won't...you'll see her again, he shook the thoughts from again. What he was feeling was not acceptable. It was against everything he'd ever grown up thinking. There's nothing different about her, he finally told himself as he responded back to her "The pleasure was all mine."
They continued, finally reaching the doors to Wendelring.

She nodded to him, and made the gesture of opening the door with her wand. The force exerted in opening the door manually would have been more than just a flick of the wand, and that's what mattered to Shay. "This doesn't necessarily mean it ends here, huh?" she asked with a low laugh, and then looked to the stairs. "Ooh, stairs. This will be fun," she mumbled, but she was glad to feel a bit more coherent with the walk home. It was still feeling like it would take a month to get up into her apartment.

"It will be alright, I'll be right next to you," Alfonz told her as he took her a bit closer in his arms. He wouldn't let the girl go, not after the night they had just shared, but he still was not in the mood to carry someone either. It was only a couple of nights, and he was in good shape, so he really didn't see the problem in getting her to the apartment where she lived. "So, how long have you lived here?" Alfonz asked, trying to make conversation that would take her mind off of the stairs. Climbing up the first set of stairs was easy. Only two flights left.

"Since the beginning of August," she commented as she knew she was going up stairs but didn't necessarily feel it. "So about two months. How about you? I could swear I have never seen you around before this." She hadn't meant it, but her cheeks flushed at what 'this' was. Now that she was gaining awareness and judgement again, she felt like an imbecil for being so vulnerable like a child.

"Only a few days, actually," Alfonz responded making it up the next flight of the stairs with the girl in his arms. "Course, how many neighbors do you actually look for here?" he asked her, smirking. Did he really have that much of an impression? No, it's because you guys have been around each other for a few hours. That's it! he told himself, almost scolding. Though, his ego, that didn't need any boosting, rose a few notches. Like he needed compliments from her, but for some reason...it was different than hearing them from someone else. Why? he asked himself, almost as if it were a dare to answer.
The second flight of stairs was complete as they climbed the final staircase. "One more," he said to her softly, wondering what would happen when they got to his door....or rather, what he'd want to do when he got there.

Shay chuckled, knowing he got her there. "It's been more of a case where they've found me. See, there's a few mates from Hogwarts here, so it's as if I never went across the pond." It wasn't to say that she forgot her friends in California, though. They were a tight-knit group that had a closeness that was unique to her. But it was still different from the bonds she made in Hogwarts. They were separate but equal in her mind.
"We're quite close, thank Merlin," she said, but didn't mean it like she was glad the night was over. Yet again, just thinking of her modest but soft bed was sounding more tempting than many things now. "I'm bloody glad I don't have work tomorrow."

"I'm sure," he continued as he finally stopped in front of the apartment 301. He pulled away from her slightly, never letting go, to look at her more directly. "Well, as I said before, Miss Shay Loire, it's been a pleasure." His body dared him to do something his mind fought against. He could just go to his apartment and leave her to do her thing. She looked exhausted any how, and he too, was glad that he could sleep in in the morning. What could he do? He felt like....something needed to be done to close out the night. Then he thought of it. Why not end the night, like he began it?
Taking her hand slowly, and bending over slightly, he brushed his lips up against the back of her hand, placing a sweet and gentle kiss where he had just hours before. Looking up at the girl, he genuinely smiled and said, "Good Night, Miss Loire."

At this point, she couldn't honestly think of anything but just sleeping until she was sick of it. Hopefully after that she could locate Allegra and have a chat with her about her night and why she had been gone later than usual. But her hopes weren't that high-- she knew a lot of things were coming about in the castle.
Once her hand was on the knob of the door, however, she wanted to stay with him just a little. And when he came closer one last time, she innocently expected a kiss on the lips. Still... the hand was the next best thing, however anticlimatic it was. After that, though, she put her free on his cheek and smiled. "Buenas noches," she whispered and briefly let go, thankful she was good enough to get her key and open the door without any problem. Closing the door would be just as easy though.
To stop thinking about it-- now that was the challenge.
