Any other time, Alexander would have puffed out his chest and smiled widely, for he was about to brag about his father and what he did; what Alexander wanted to do. But this time was different, he was seriously looking into Seanna's brown eyes and seeing someone afraid for their life, and the lives of others thinking that in some way, they let this happen. It was a classic case of taking the blame. Alexander had even seen this before in his father when he had lost big cases. Some criminals were just not meant to be caged.
"My father," Alexander began, "is an lawyer. He's an accident lawyer mostly, but he has had cases that involved murders and such." Pausing just a bit, Alexander continued. "You see, that's how my parents met. My mother had an accident, and being from America, no one realized she was a witch. She was sent to a muggle hospital and my father took on her case. It was how they met and eventually, fell in love." It was a shortened version to the story his parents told him, but there really wasn't any need to bore Seanna with all the details.
"He's done loads of things, and help loads of people since then. But he's even lost cases too, and who would seem like the criminals have gotten away....he beats himself up over it....but in the end my mother tells him that he can't save everyone....it's not a realization anyone likes to hear....I know, trust me....but we have to accept that sometimes who would be the hero of a situation can't do anything about the criminals. However," he finished. "my dad takes his energy and does everything he can to comfort and help those after the case is done and lost. He cares about those involved....just like I know you do."
Alexander smiled at the Prefect and gently caressed her hand with his thumb moving it ever so slightly back and forth. He knew that right at this instant, it was alright and normal for her to feel like the whole world was not right, and that she had failed. It was only a natural reaction with loss. But after was when it would really count, and that was what Alexander was trying to get across. It didn't matter what happened in the now....but rather what happened in the later.

Seanna was still looking at Alexander and she could see the pride there when he talked about his Father and his Mother. Smiling bashfully when Alexander told her that he knew she cared, Seanna lowered her gaze and her brown eyes watched his thumb caress her hand. The Huffle could feel some of the light coming through the darkness and she hoped that it would stay there.
"Your Father sounds like a very nice man" Seanna commented finally, tearing her eyes away from the thumb and bringing them back to look at Alexander. "I know what you're trying to say. It's just the not knowing about the one's you care about that worries' me the most. It's just the sitting and waiting and thinking too that's sometimes hard... it's hard not to think the worst" Seanna admitted, even though the girl could probably go and find each and everyone of those she cared about and see if they're okay.
"But Alexander... thank you" Seanna said, giving the Huffle boy a light kiss on the cheek of appreciation. The girl was thankful that he had come over and saved her from almost caving in. It was a different twist, because Seanna was normally the one saving people from doing something stupid or from caving in themselves. Even though Seanna had only known Alexander for a short while, she considered him a friend and one that she knew she could trust and go too if she ever needed too.
Seanna gave Alexander what she thought was a happier and not-so scared smile as the ones she had been giving, just to let him know that she was okay. "One day, I hope I can meet your Father. He sounds like an extraordinary man" Seanna mentioned to Alexander, shyly. " I mean, after we get out of this, that is" Somehow, with just a little hope, the girl knew that they would somehow get out of the mess they were in.

(Sorry 'bout the delay on this thread Seanna, but I'm betting your dying for this reply ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ) Alexander listened to his Prefect friend and nodded. He too wondered the things she was, and worried about them. How could he not? This was a world that he had hoped to leave for years now, and to have it shoved in his face almost made him wonder why he hadn’t just left it when he had the chance when transferring. All of the second thoughts that Alexander had had when finding out that he was different than what his father was came flooding back into his mind and he hated it, but mostly he hated himself for not being able to help those that he found needed help. Alexander only hoped that his speaking with Seanna could help her like she needed it to. The kiss on the cheek was unexpected, and Alexander found himself blushing as her warm lips briefly touched his upon the side of his face. He looked at her and a grin appeared, his expression one of confusion, but not repulsion. “No need to thank me…” Alexander whispered clumsily. “It’s what friends are for…to watch out for one another,” Alexander said, squeezing her hand a bit to let her know that he was genuine. “As for my father…” Alexander nodded and smiled even more proudly. “I’d love to have you meet him. My parents are always wondering when I’m going to bring lovely ladies home,” Alexander chuckled softly and gave Seanna a wink as he jested. He was serious about what his parents said, but didn’t want to seem crude by saying anything more than that she would surely be able to meet his father. “We’ll make it a promise…that way, we’ll have to get out of this.” Alexander nodded again at his own logic and his smile only grew more affectionate. It sounded like a plan to him, and not a bad one at that.

(actually, I had forgotten about it, until now ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png) ;D) The Huffle was only now realizing that was what friends were for, to look out for one another, to make them feel better when they were down, to make them feel not-so-afraid, when in a time like this, it was easy to get over afraid. Seanna squeezed Alexander's hand back, telling him or letting him know, that she would do the same. Actually, scratch that, she would do the same for all of her fellow huffle's and friends, but it felt nice, though, to actually have someone do it in reverse for her. Seanna raised one, perfectly, blond eyebrow and nearly snorted at Alexander's next comment. A lovely lady? Who was he kidding? The girl was by no means a lovely lady, well, she didn't think so. The sixth year enjoyed playing in mud, exploding things, playing with glittery things. But if Alexander wanted to think of her as a lovely lady, Seanna would let him. Sooner or later he would find out just so not lovely she could be. "Sure, we can make it a promise" A smile playing on her face. The Huffle girl really was interested in meeting the parents of Alexander, especially his Father, she would love to hear more about his cases. "We'll promise... that next holiday break, I'll come to meet your parents" Now positively certain that she just had to get out of this situation. Besides, going to Alexander's place on the holidays meant that she got out of going home for break, considering she would still get killed by her Mother, because she still had that blond hair.

And as Alexander sat there with the blond huffle in his arms, he almost wondered if the next holiday was good enough. With his mother wanting another child from his father and all, things had been pretty hectic. And then even on top of all of that, the Hjort case, probably one of his father’s biggest cases of his career, had developed new information on it that had everyone’s heads in the clouds between the Hjorts and Cronons. “Next holiday?” Alexander mumbled to himself, before nodding. “Sounds like a plan,” he smiled at the girl, now wondering how he’d break the news to his mother without her thinking that he was bringing home a girlfriend that was more than just a girl than a friend.
One of the faceless looked at them and pointed. Alexander’s body stiffened a bit, but another faceless told the other to forget about them. Obviously he hadn’t liked the two muttering back and forth to one another. “Plus, with how unorganized the Deva seem to be, there’s no way they’ll succeed in whatever they’re here for. I mean just look at them…” Alexander said to Seanna as he looked from her to them and then back to her again. “Worthless…” he nodded and sighed.
Alexander then smiled at Seanna and began talking about his home. “My family has a small house in York. Nice little place. My father has been bothering my mum about getting a dog of sorts,” Alexander laughed softly and looked directly at Seanna. “But you know what she told him? She told him that he could have a dog, if she could have another kid…talk about blowing all of us out of the water,” the older boy rolled his eyes. What a shock that statement had been, and what was even more shocking was that his mother had been serious. “I’m just warning ya…when you come over, Seanna…it may be a bit hectic.”

Sitting with Alexander's arms wrapped around her, she was brave enough to make a face at one of the Deva member's that had pointed over to them and Seanna wondered just exactly what his problem was. The Deva wasn't in control of the students power of speech, after all. "You're absolutely right. I kinda feel sorry for Shaw for having a bunch of... well, you know" While she felt brave enough to make a face at the Deva members, she wasn't exactly brave enough to actually call them worthless, like Alexander had said.
Seanna turned to make a face at Alexander, one that she hoped encased some sort of feeling of not being quiet right. "You think they're just as scared of us as we are of them?" Seanna asked Alexander, wondering if the Deva member's were scared of them. It was a bunch of them against a whole lot of students, students that knew some good spells and pranks... that would surely get some people scared right there, knowing that.
Listening to Alexander, the girl forgot about the Deva and everything that was happening when the other Huffle described his home. Hectic, she was sure she could handle, she had spent six years of being in Hufflepuff where not a day went by that something was happening. But did Alexander mean that his Mother was pregnant, or that they were just trying for another kid?
"I'm sure I could handle it... but, do you mean to say that your Mother is pregnant? Seanna asked, her brown eyes full of excitement and thinking that Alexander's Mother sounded like fun to be around with. Seanna didn't want to say anything more until Alexander clarified that his Mother was pregnant... that way she wouldn't be able to succumb to that foot in mouth disease that she sometimes got.

Alexander didn’t know if the Deva were scared of the students as much as they seemed to frighten the students. Some maybe, but there were others who just looked at the students and saw the same thing as what Alexander thought about them. It was true, both sides thought of the other as worthless. At least most of the side’s occupants did.
‘I’m not sure,” Alexander responded to her softly. “I’m really not sure.”
Alexander could see the excitement in the girl’s brown eyes, and he laughed a bit more loudly than he probably should have, if not for the sleeping students, than to draw attention to themselves more than they already had. But he couldn’t help it, for Seanna’s eyes only hoped for his mother to be pregnant. “No, I’m almost positive that she was just saying that if my father were to have a dog, than she was to have another child. You should have seen my father’s face…” Alexander made a look of disappointment and shock all in one expression.
“That’s how it was,” he told Seanna, chuckling to himself again. “I wasn’t sure what shocked him more. The prospect of another kid, or the fact that he couldn’t have a dog without having the kid.” He snickered. “My mum’s from America, so some of her ideals…well, are interesting. Let’s just put it that way.” Alexander never understood some of the freer American ways, but didn’t question them all the same. His mother was unique and one of his undying fans. Patricia Cronon made up for what Alexander Cronon I didn’t have within the parenting relationship, and for that Alexander was proud to call her his ‘mum’.

"Oh" Seanna said, trust her to jump to that conclusion that Alexander's Mother was all ready pregnant. Her cheeks were now slowly turning a shade of red in embarrassment, but she let out out a giggle, feeling silly to actually jump to that conclusion, though it really did sound like that Alexander had said that his Mother was.
"No, your Mother sounds fun to be around with, but it would've been a shock to your Father that he couldn't have a dog without having a kid... was your Mother serious when she said that?" While his Mother did sound like fun to be around with, it was some way to make a deal with someone. Especially seeing as how either one would be just as much work as the other.
The Deva that were still looking over at them, still stared at them and Seanna made another face at them. Surely she wasn't that interesting to look at it?

Alexander shrugged. “She looked serious. She’s more of a cat person you see, and my father hates cats, so, I don’t believe we’ve ever had a cat or a dog in our house,” Alexander laughed again and shook his head. “Not to mention, I think my mom’s a bit lonely. She likes to have kids around her…it’s probably why she’s a elementary school teacher for muggle kids…and now that I’m growing older, she’s getting that….oh, what do they call it…?” Alexander searched his brain for the right terminology. There was a word for when parents became lonely and depressed when their kids grew older and were almost old enough to leave the house, but Alexander couldn’t remember what it was.
He sighed and shrugged as he caught Seanna making another face at the Deva. “What are you doing?” he asked slowly and a bit worried like. “Don’t make faces at them…they’ll come over here for sure.” Alexander wasn’t scared of them, but rather what they were willing to do. If he had his wand, he would have been fine with showing the Deva his new moves he’d been practicing with it, but he didn’t have his wand; nor had he ever used it against another person before.
“Maybe they just haven’t seen how beautiful youth is in a while,” Alexander snickered at the fact that he’d just said that the faceless were ugly without even knowing how they looked. Did he really have to? They were ugly just by their actions alone, not even the way they looked could portray beauty. He shook his head and gave Seanna a wink, “…we must just be that good looking.” Alexander jested, but as he did, his skin crawled in disgust being reminded of it and he felt gross again.

"Middle aged syndrome?" Seanna replied to Alexander's question, though she wasn't sure if that answer was the right one or not. The Huffle had heard what Alexander was talking about, but she too couldn't find the right word for it. "Your household would definitely be interesting to visit. I feel sorry for your Father, though. Not being allowed to get a dog unless your Mother had another child... did they come to a compromise?" Seanna asked, not meaning to pry into Alexander's personal life, but finding the topic interesting and plus, it did kind of take her mind of the Deva being there, just long enough to not make anymore faces at them.
Seanna turned to Alexander and made a face at him, slowly shaking her head at him as well, "I don't think they will. I mean, they haven't yet and I've been making faces at them for awhile" The Huffle girl felt confident that they wouldn't come over, she thought that they might've come over when Alexander had called them worthless, but they hadn't.
Screwing up her nose even further at Alexander, she had to let out a little giggle when he proclaimed that they must've been that good looking. "Yup, we're probably the most good looking sixth years, especially with the dust build up in our hair and the slimy second skin of dirt we both have on ourselves" Seanna giggled again at her own assessment of each other and just what they both really looked liked. Maybe the two Deva's that were looking at them were congratulating themselves for making the students see what would happen if they didn't continue with proper hygiene for awhile.
Maybe... the two deva's were actually interested in their conversation, too. It only occurred to Seanna that what Alexander was saying about his family could be of valuable information to them, for some reason or another. "You don't think they will come over here, do you?" Seanna asked Alexander, a seed of doubt now firmly imprinted in her mind. What if the two deva members were actually after information and that was the real reason for the two Deva's to be staring at them?

Middle aged syndrom?
Alexander nodded. Maybe that was it. “Yea, I think so,” Alexander continued nodding his head and listened to the Huffle Prefect’s questions. “Compromise? Other than that, I’m not sure actually,” he laughed and shook his head. His parents were crazy there was no doubt about that. But still, Alexander couldn’t help but love them for it.
When Seanna turned to him and made a face at him, he laughed at that too. His spirits were lifting just a bit by being there with her. Having a friend always help the most trying of situations he thought. “I know, but I just would rather you didn’t make the faces just in case.” Though, he was realizing more and more that the Huffle women were very alike. Between Seanna making faces, and Krissy with her potato launching at the Deva, it was enough to turn Alexander’s brown hair grey. He sighed. “It’s just safer not to.”
Alexander’s skin started to crawl something horrible again, as he tried his best not to push Seanna off to the side. Her brining up how disgusting they really were was getting to him more than she would ever think, but he kept his position, but froze trying to regain his calm. “Well….heh….you never know,” he managed to say a bit forcefully. He laughed trying to make it a bit softer of a statement, but looked away from the blond in his arms and toward the Deva. They really couldn’t have been any cleaner than they were.
You don’t think they will come over here, do you?
Seanna’s tone seemed a bit worried now, and Alexander did his best not to roll his eyes. Looking back at Seanna he squeezed her gently again and shook his head. “If they were going to come over here, they would have done it when you were making faces. I’m almost positive of that one.” Alexander looked back at them again. How strange it was that Seanna would all of a sudden care about the Deva coming near them. It must be something with how the female species tended to be indecisive and stuff. She was changing her mind. “Don’t worry, Seanna,” Alexander whispered thinking that they were probably safer there than anywhere else.

Don't worry? Worrying was what Seanna did best. The emotion came with the panicking, so the two were really somewhat close to the surface of what to pick from her emotions. "What if they were actually interested in our conversation, though?" The Huffle asked another question, her over analyze of the whole situation was kicking in. "I mean, maybe they could use that information somehow to their advantage" Seanna explained, her voice now just a little softer than it was before. If the Deva were really listening on the conversation, she really didn't want to give them anything more to use against them.
"Or maybe I'm just being paranoid... " Seanna trailed off, shrugging her shoulder's a bit. Paranoid or not, the two Deva did seem really interested in the two Huffles, maybe not her specifically, but more Alexander. Seanna looked up at Alexander, concern now filling her brown eyes for her friend. "Maybe they heard the bit about your Father being a lawyer and thought that they could use that or something" In no way was Seanna trying to worry Alexander, it was just that she was trying to make him see that there was a possibility that something wasn't just right about the two Deva's listening in on two Hufflepuff's conversation.
"Okay, no more faces" Seanna agreed, nodding her head. There would be definitely no more faces until the blond Huffle could figure out what the two Deva were really after by them looking over at her and Alexander. The girl was more worried about her friend's family and their safety to make anymore faces, what if they found out where the Cronon's lived and somehow did something to them? Okay, so maybe Seanna really was over analyzing the whole situation, but it was a strong possibility that maybe those two Deva's probably weren't just innocently looking over at them.

Alexander could see that Seanna was about to lose it a bit more so he brought her in a bit closer to him and leaned his face down onto her head. "I'm not sure why they're so interested...but I'm almost sure those ones are not any of the smart ones....they'd probably forget what they would tell their boss before they even got an audience with him," or at least Alexander hoped. He thought about all of what they had talked about and figured if anything, he'd be at more risk than either of his parents. His father was muggle, and mother was an American witch, so her name was not known around these parts at all. They'd probably think he was muggle-born for sure, and therefore would only see him as a threat to their cause. Alexander didn't worry about his parents, but he was a bit more worried about his status if the Deva had heard anything they said.
Alexander tried not to worry and closed his eyes to collect himself a bit. He was glad when he heard that Seanna wasn't going to make anymore faces and when he opened his eyes, he noticed that the Deva members were just talking amongst themselves. He only hoped that it wasn't about them. "So, what about you? Where do you live and stuff?" he whispered so that the Deva members would not hear. "What about your family?"

Seanna looked back over at the two Deva's near them, her brown eyes studying them. They were still just merely staring at them, pointing at them, most likely trying to figure them out just as much as Seanna was trying to figure them out. Then again, they were just students, there really wasn't that much to figure out about them. "I guess... I guess you could be right" Seanna agreed, but only half-heartedly. Most of Shaw's group didn't look like they could string two words together, but then, maybe that was all a act too, making them think that in order to gain more information.
Then again, maybe they were pointing at them because of the display of affection going on between her and Alexander. Fair enough, it was only cuddling, but maybe those members were old fuddy-duddies, that didn't take too kindly to public displays of affection. Seanna leaned back into Alexander, her head now resting near his shoulder, giving a small smug smile at the Deva members, before turning her brown eyes up to look at Alexander.
There really wasn't that much to tell, or well, the girl thought she wasn't that interesting to know about. "When I'm not here, I usually go home to my parent's home in Milan, Italy" Seanna began, thinking that she probably should go back there next holiday break... if she ever got her brown hair back, that was. The Huffle was not going home if she still had her blond hair, her Mother would have an absolute conniption fit.
"My parents own a museum there, they're both curators of the museum, so a lot of times they're both off traveling and looking for unusual magical and muggle stuff for the museum" A look of confusion spread across her face again, she really couldn't quite work that one out. After all, her parents were both purebloods, so how did they exactly get the pieces that were primarily muggle into the museum? Putting that the back of her mind, she planned to ask that question the next time she saw them.

Alexander felt Seanna become more comfortable in his arms, and as she laid her head against his against his shoulder, he gently squeezed her again bringing her more near. It was comfortable, and Alexander felt no pressure or casted judgment from her as she agreed with what he was saying. Alexander, however, could feel the reluctance to believe what he said surging through her body into his own….or maybe, it was just his own unsure thoughts about he whole situation.
Looking down, and meeting her brown eyes with his own lavender ones, he smiled and nodded his head as she spoke to him about where it was that she came from. “Italy, really?” Alexander said, somewhat dumbfounded like. He had heard that the Italian women were something else, but hadn’t believed what was said. Though, knowing Seanna, he almost wondered if it were true? “Tell me then, are all the girls just as crazy and fun loving as you there?” he gave her a small wink, and a bit of a chuckle. It wasn’t loud in any ways, but the Deva stirred, and as they did Alexander looked up quick to find that they were only talking amongst themselves at that moment; not moving any where near the two huffles. He gave a sigh of relief and looked back at Seanna, letting her finish her explanation.
“A museum, huh? That’s got to be an interesting way of life, indeed.” Alexander thought about traveling the world, looking for items that could be used for display in a museum. It must have been fascinating. Too bad he wasn’t that much into history.
