[ Physical Character Description: ]
Sophia is a petite girl (5"2') who has raven black hair and even darker eyes. Her hair, however, has light brunette highlites, so most picture her as a brunette herself. She is rather slim and her hair is cut past her shoulders. She is of Asian/French descent and the mix is rather rare in her part of town. Sophia has lovely cheekbones and very small features. Her hair falls in gentle waves and her best attribute is her warm smile. She always wears classy clothing underneath her robes and is never found without heels and pearls.
[ Personality Character Description: ]
Sophia is bubbly and naturally optimistic. She has a charismatic air about her and always helps others, leading them through thick and thin. She can be easily excited and just as easily distracted, yet she is extremely bright. She is also rather clumsy. Regardless, she is a wonderful friend, very loyal and caring, and would do anything for them. Ever since she can remember, Sophia has been a born actress. She often steals the spotlight and is caught in the center of attention, whether by singing a tune or by making a stone-face crowd crack with laughter. She really loves to act and sing and is a creative soul.
As sweet as she is, she has a quick temper when something does not go her way. She can be a bit spoiled, but not over the top as some would say. She becomes angry when people demean her, or when people lose faith in something quickly. She also becomes angry when she meets closed-minded people who wish to stick to their own ways.
Inspired by the arts, Sophia hopes to one day star on the London stage in some sort of ground-breaking musical. Her dreams fuel her to accomplish great things, and her love for all living things gives her the compassion that she shows day after day. When she becomes a "big star" she wants to get involved with charity work and help others who can't help themselves.
Sophia, not unlike everyone else, has her quirks. She has to sleep in bed with all of the blankets tucked into her like a mummy. It was an insecurity issue. Sophia was deathly afraid of vampires when she was younger and wanted to protect herself. She dropped the fear, but not the habit. Now she's only afraid of thunderstorms and needles. Sophia also eats one thing at a time, making sure that the food on her plate never touches. She doodles incessantly when she's bored, making a nightmare out of a paper book-cover.
[ History: ]
Sophia Elena Crawford was born in England to Mrs. Posey Crawford and Mr. Bren Crawford. Posey was originally born in France and attended Beauxbatons. She graduated and visited England for leisure and met a muggle, Air Marshal Bren Crawford. He was currently working in the Royal Air Force, a job he loved, but realized that he loved Posey more. Without a hint of magic, he married her and they moved to London, a bustling city, to raise their daughter.
They were always wealthy people but never bragged of it. They accumulated wealth from Bren's RAF salary and from Posey's inheritance. Posey had come from one of those old wizarding families, the families who could trace their magical roots back to the Dark Ages. They sent Sophia off to private school for the performing arts, bought her expensive gifts, and threw lavish parties. Sophia soon began to do strange things, like turning the chandelier into a snow leopard cub, and somehow rearranging stars in the sky.
One night the Crawford couple were outside at a parade, enjoying the fireworks. Posey held their 2-year-old daughter in her arms, in awe of the bursts of colors. Sophia giggled and then pointed. Posey playfully wiggled her little arm and then looked up. Sophia pointed to an empty patch of sky far away. Posey smiled. "Those are stars, pumpkin." Posey looked at her daughter, now waving her finger around and looking at the sky in a daze. Posey looked up, puzzled, and then saw that she was moving a patch of stars around in the sky. Bren looked up to see what the two were staring at and his eyes bulged. Sophia suddenly clapped, and the stars collided into a nova. Bren fainted. When he woke up inside of the house, Posey was forced to tell Bren about her powers, but Bren was too scared to listen. He fled to America for a month to sort things out. Posey was simply distraught. He returned, however, and life went back to a normal state.
Sophia happily grew older and life kept getting better. She was excelling at her school in both acting and music and she was performing in small musicals here and there. All was going well until one day she heard her mother crying on the leather sofa. It seemed that Posey's sister Jule was killed along with her children and husband by some rogue group called the Elevens. Jule was born a Squib and her husband was a muggle-born. Their children had no known magical power. She didn't understand at that moment what was going on in the wizarding world. All her mother would say is that it was "something bad" and to never talk about it.
Posey never told her daughter about how upset Jule was about being a Squib. She never told her that Jule wanted to prove herself worthy in the wizarding community, and she certainly never told her daughter that Jule joined the Phoenix Regime. Jule had been one of the more outspoken members, hoping desperately to fit in. Her husband never understood her drive, but loved and supported her all the way. If only they had been more careful about it, if only Jule hadn't made herself such a target. She blatantly acknowledged her averse nature towards the Deva and voiced her opinion whenever possible, making it extremely easy to find her and to take her down. So many others had expressed their wish that she stay quiet, that the time would come for the Phoenix to rise, but she didn't listen. She couldn't listen. She had to protect her children, her way of life. She couldn't let the dark powers that be take over again, but she was just too eager for her own good. A Squib couldn't possibly face a huge army of pure-blooded witches and wizards. It was doomed from the start, and so her Aunt Jule met a terrible end as so many would in days to come.
A letter came from Hogwarts, but Sophia just didn't know what to expect. Her mother was practically swimming in euphoria, but her father was a bit uneasy. He needed complete reassurance before they could even get him through Diagon Alley. He marveled at everything and even bought Sophia a racing broom and an orange kitten, affectionately named Mango. He found wonder in everything that he saw and his fear ebbed away. He waved jubilantly as his daughter boarded the infamous scarlet train and held his wife as she sobbed into an embroidered handkerchief.
[ Pros and Cons : ]
Sophia is always a happy person, very energetic and bubbly. She was born to be a people-person, and that always helps when meeting new people and trying new things. She "lights up your day" and is inspiring to the downcast. She's also rather bold and flirtatious, which could be a pro or a con, depending on the situation. She is always looking to play the neutral party in conflicts, hoping to sort things out from a different point of view. She likes to keep everyone happy which is perhaps a difficult and foolish thing to do, but she strives to make others better, which is a pro. She also strives to find the best in people and is always willing to give second chances.
On the other hand, Sophia is horrendous when her ego is involved. It isn't that she is egotistical, but she cares deeply about how she is regarded by others. She couldn't stand it if her name had any sort of "bad" connected to it. She's also very stubborn when she is heated, and her quick temper doesn't help any. There aren't many things that anger her, but when she is angry bad things happen. She loses all common sense and just acts on impulse.[/size]
