Accepted! Welcome to Hogwarts!
[Full Character Name: ] Lachlan Daniel McCormick
[ Character Gender: ] Male
[ Country of Citizenship: ] Ireland
[ Physical Character Description: ]
Well, whats to say about Lachlan? Well, like a great majority of the world's youth, he is considered to be attractive. Despite the fact that he's come from Ireland, Lachlan is fairly browned. For more than half of his life, the boy would spend his time out in the sun playing sports, which is why he has such a fit and tan body. He has a built chest and stomach, and filled arms and legs. Lachlan stands at about 5'11, and fits a large shoe size. He is all in proportion, meaning his shoulders, arms, torso and legs all fit together just so. Lachlan isn't a big fan of the school uniform, so when he escapes the grip of his tie and button up shirts, the teenager tends to wear jeans, hoodies, tees and shorts. Nothing too fancy.
His facial features also match that sun-kissed body of his. Lachlan has a strong jaw-line, which give him the impression of being slightly intimidating. His skin seems to have taken a turn for the better, and so he doesn't have any blemishes at all these days. The teenager has a boyish grin, though narrow cheeks. His nose is on the longer side, and his ears aren't even seen usually. Lachlan doesn't consider himself to be anything out of the ordinary, but many others do. His best features would certainly be his greenish gray eyes, which catch a second glance now and then. Also, the youth has great hair for his age. Dirty blond roots grow out into sandy blond hair, which is messy and a bit on the curly side.
[ Personality Character Description: ]
Lachlan McCormick isn't your typical air-head guy. Despite the fact that he loves to kick around a footy or go for a jog, he is actually extremely smart. Unlike what most people expected him to be like, Lachlan had two things they didn't expect. For one, he was allot smarter than they were. And the second, well, he was a wizard. During his time at school the boy developed into a really smart boy. Even though he loved sports, Logan was labeled as "that really smart kid". He was great at English, History, Science, Math, you name it, he was great at it. So during his early teenage years, he boy was renowned for being a nerdy smart kid. This wasn't very pleasing to him, as he didn't get the kind of attention he was aiming for. Lachlan tried being the jock, but no one recognized him for that. He even tried rebelling, but that just made him a try hard, so for a couple of years, he was the smart kid.
When he arrived at Hogwarts, Lachlan changed this. He didn't show his intelligence to many, and was then palmed off as a jock, just like he had aimed for. But this wasn't what he had hoped to be, either. Besides his "mates", everyone thought he was an arrogant jerk. And so, after gaining another stereotype that he couldn't cope with, Lachlan became the the nice guy. He set out to become the "turn-around" kid. Come the past year, the youth decided to stop playing as much sport, and try and make new friends. Sure, it's a working progress, but he's getting on his way to letting people onto his cleaner, more friendly side.
After changing labels a few times, though, Lachlan has picked up on a fair few negative aspects to his personality. Allot of the time, he points out peoples mistakes or common errors. If he knows they're wrong about a certain thing, the boy will point it out, and prove them wrong in doing so. The jock in him always is evident, as Lachlan pushed himself to outdo people in situations like sports, exams and even when impressing others. He goes to great measures to achieve better results from those who he doesn't like, or doesn't get along with. Logan likes attention, since he never got a healthy amount as a child, the boy goes to big lengths to make up for that. He may go out of his way to impress a girl (if he thinks she's worth it), or cram loads of study from time to time to top his entire class. Sometimes Lachlan doesn't even realize he's doing it. Despite all,Lachlan is really a friendly guy though. He is that mate that will always back you up, and give you a shoulder to lean on. He's a funny guy, who almost everyone seems to get along with.
[ History: ]
Lachlan was born on June the 26th in Ireland and lived most of his life in a quiet little cottage located in a little town that wasn't quite on the map. He was a happy little child, living with both his parents. He didn't have any brothers or sisters, but really, he didn't have much of a problem with that. Lach's Mother Sara worked as a baker . His father Daniel was a mechanic. Both parents worked hard enough to juggle spending time with their son, as well as provide and end's meat income.
Lachlan's early childhood was very easy, for he didn't have much to worry about. He was never one of those wizards who showed magical talents at early ages, and therefor he wasn't concerned about the consequences or challenges of keeping his magical abilities under the hood. He always had a love of reading and writing, as well as an equally passionate interest in sports. Growing up, Lachlan always had to toss up between pleasing his father, in the means of sports, or pleasing his mother, in the way of education. This was really the only challenge that occurred in the boy's life as a youngster, and so, he was little to know what was in store for his future.
Lach was exactly 8 when his parents split up. At such an age, he wasn't exactly able to understand the full impact of what their divorce would make on his small, simple life. Sara was unhappy with the way that Daniel was running her son's life. He was one of those fathers who had missed their chance at becoming a sports star, and his encouragement for Lachlan to push his sports career further was very unhealthy, according to his mother. Which was true, in many ways.
And thought this wasn't the only reason that they split up, it was one of the biggest issues. Daniel was living his lost dream through his son, and Sara wouldn't allow it. The other reasons that contributed to the McCormick's divorce was money issues. Daniel had a taste for the rich, classy life, and their income simply couldn't afford many expensive things. Lach had never had a problem, for he didn't know any better, but his father grew sick and tired of simple aspects in life. So, like allot of other marriages, the McCormick's decided to end their relationship, and went their separate ways in life.
After the split of his parents, Lachlan went to live with his mother who had moved to a more rural area of Ireland. Sara had been granted custody of Lachlan but despite her wishes, he chose to keep in contact with his father. Although Daniel had been very strict Lachlan, he still held a spot in the boys heart. As Lachlan grew older, his relationship with his mum strengthened and they began to depend on each other. At school Lachlan became aggressive to wards anyone who doubted that a mother could raise a child on her own and he was always very protective of Sara. In this time, because he was fonder of his mother than of his father, Lach swayed to wards his books and eager thirst of knowledge, rather than his sporting abilities.
At age 11, a shock hit the family of two, as Lachlan was invited to start at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Sara had not been aware of any magical blood in her family, and when she questioned Daniel on his behalf, he denied any known knowledge. It took a long while to decide the fate of Lachlan, but for the first time in years, Sara and Daniel were able to put aside their differences, and muster up the funds to send their son to Hogwarts. Though Lach wasn't even positive he was ready, or willing to leave his mother along, the boy realized that they were doing this for him, and not for either of themselves.
As a young teenager Lachlan was pretty well behaved most of the time, though he did go through a rebellious stage. He didn't tend to muck up as it had a great deal of impact on his mother and she was already under a lot of stress. He was a rather obedient, smart kid, who acted like your normal young teen. He had a few friends, but not very many. As his mother still owned and managed her own Bakery, he didn't see the need in being one of those demanding children who made their parents lives hell. Lachlan learned to be humble for what he had.
As both of the boy's parents are muggles, over time the boy has realized that he is what is classified as a 'muggle born', though this does not greatly affect him. Up until this coming year, the boy only purchased second hand, or used goods for school, due to his tight budget. He didn't let this effect his school, though, and brush off any harsh comments other kids made. Lach started off at Hogwarts as a smart, nerdy kind of kid. He loved reading and writing more than things like Quidditch, and during his first couple of years the boy was labeled as a 'geek'. At the beginning of his third year, the youth decided that he was sick of being the smart boy, and instead, rebelled against his normal, easy-flowing nature. Lach began the jock, and his life was mainly orientated around Quidditch, and muggle sports.
It was only at the end of his fourth year that the teen realized that this was not the ideal personality, either. Though the recent news of being sports-obsessed reached (and pleased) his father, it was proving to be dampening his mothers spirits for Lachlan to make it further in life. He considered all the facts, and came to the conclusion that he didn't need to chose sport over education, or vice versa, but a mix would only satisfy his parents, and himself. At the beginning of his fifth year, Lach decided to simply kick back and relax his reputation. He kept his love of sports alive, as well as picking up his studies again. The boy began to branch out and make new friends, in his new, mellow skin.
[ Pros and Cons: ]
Despite the way that some may see him, Lachlan is actually quite intelligent. He doesn't really mind that this is a trait that some leave out, but deep down, he's the average bookworm. Considering that he had been the nerdy smart guy for so many years, he's happy that people don't really think of him in that way anymore.
Thanks to his need for a better label, Lachlan is quite athletic. He may have forced himself into it, but that was something that had to happen, or so he thought. He knew that there was no other way to change his persona, and this suits him excellently. He has always been rather fit and athletic, but never really taken any notice to it. Lachlan loves his football and morning jogs, but its not something that he sees a career in.
Lachlan is a loyal friend. It's quite simple really, friendship means a lot to him, and its not something that he considers to be a throw around thing. Lachlan knows that a truly great friend is hard to find, so he defends with his life the right to have them. He's the kind of guy that would never let anything come between him and his friends, and would never let someone walk over the people that are important to him.
Despite his efforts to be the nice, kind of sensitive guy, people believe that he has a arrogance about him. He doesn't like this, but after being palmed off as the jerk, the arrogant jock, Lachlan really hasn't had much say into it. The loyalty that the boy pertains is one of the main culprits in this, even if he tries to make friends.
Even when he tries not to, Lachlan can also be quite judgemental. He would never tell anyone what he thought, but he can't help but pick out the peoples faults and flaws. It's not only the girls that he does this too, some of the 'victims' are the boys, but Lachlan tries his hardest not to.
Lachlan has always had high expectations for himself. He always found that when he was told he had done well, but he hadn't measured up to what he wanted, that the people were patronising him. He always loved impressing both the people and himself in everything, sport, friends, and exams especially. His pride suffers when he doesn't do incredibly well, or as high as he has set the bar, but that is wrong of him.
[Role Playing Example:]
Lachlan walked slowly down the corridor, he was on time for once, something very rare. It was, after all, his first History Lesson of this year, and he didn't really want to be late. Too many people got the wrong impression of Lach and he didn't want his Professor to be one of them. It was going to be a long year so he may as well be on good terms with the Professor.
Tucking in his robes in and shifting his bag to the opposite shoulder, Lach continued to walk. Something he did when he was thinking. The boy had barley given herself time to wake up this morning, for he had been in such a hurry to be in class on time. Lachlan was in some ways excited to be starting History, but he wasn't to eager to let others in on that secret. He had always enjoyed it before, but he wanted to keep that on the low these days. The boy was getting close to his class room and couldn't see any one his age. There were a few stragglers, first years most likely, that were still huddled in small groups whispering and giggling. He pushed past them edging closer to the door "Merlin, hope I'm not early..." He thought to himself, as he entered the classroom.
"Perfect," Lach laughed to himself sarcastically. He was the first one there. Well expect of course his professor. His plan had been to slip in quietly after a few other students and try not to attract too much attention. So much for that. Groaning quietly, Lachlan did one think he hadn't planned to do. Make his presence known. "Sir." he said simply. He sent a polite nod in his direction. "Can I sit anywhere?" he asked, gesturing towards the back seats hoping he'd get the hint. Deciding it was best, just to sit quickly rather then give him time to make up his mind, he slipped into one of the seats he had pointed at.
Lachlan took out his quill and parchment, placing them neatly on the desk he was ready to begin the lesson. But first, he had to wait for the class to arrive. Merlin, this was going to be a long year.
