[ Physical Character Description: ] Cole is fairly tall, about five foot nine. He is well built; not overweight, fairly strong appearing but not overly muscled, just well toned. He has shoulder length hair. It is straight and dark brown, it looks very smooth and soft to the touch, and it tends to shine in light. He has dark brown eyes, so piercing that when you look into them it feels like he is looking right through you. He has a few zits on his face but for the most part it is fairly clean of any blemishes. He tends to wear darker clothes; it's not that he is trying to make a statement it is just what he likes to wear.
The way that Cole appears makes him come off as a strong person. The way he stands demands attention and respect, if you were to see him across the room you would stop and stare for a little while before moving on. When you see him walk by himself he walks with a purpose in his stride, he moves quickly and smoothly which tends to draw more attention to him. Cole's appearance also makes him come off as fairly intimidating, and that is all part of the way he stands and positions himself and how he walks.
[ Personality Character Description: ] On the surface level, Cole is a really strong person, and generally is one of the loudest people in the room at any given time, but on the other end of the spectrum he can be one of the quietest most reserved people you would ever meet. He never really trusts anyone easily, so it takes a while to really know him. He starts out almost like a rock, like nothing could possibly make him stop feeling happiness. As you start to get to know him it’s like the hardness of the rock is slowly getting chipped away. He slowly becomes a lot more sensitive than anyone who doesn't truly know him could ever imagine. He would never dare to cry in front of anyone, but secretly when he is on his own he lets everything out. He genuinely cares about people and the world around him, and loves to joke around with it. He can be really goofy and funny, or super serious, and generally he knows when to choose to be either. Either people really like him or they don't like him at all. If you really get to know his sensitive side, you will discover that he is a true romantic at heart but would never admit it out loud.
Most guys tend to be against things that a girl may find romantic, but if anyone got to that point with him they would discover that at heart he loves to do those things, and he does them just to make someone else smile. He seems to be so strong, but once someone truly knows him he will seem a whole lot less difficult to approach and get to know even further. He is not all sensitive though, he loves to go out and do things that a lot of people would probably call crazy. He seems to have a really good sense of right and wrong. He loves to stand out from the crowd, but doesn't want to come off as better than anyone else. He does do certain things to get looks, but very often the way he acts gets him looks he doesn't want. He never really seems to care about school or things like that and tends to procrastinate, but when he does try he is guaranteed to succeed. He would rather go out and have fun with friends than go to school, but he goes anyways because that’s where his friends are so it makes it possible for him to hang out with them.
His way of getting to know people better is a little different than most others however, he tends to mock people and become sarcastic and cynical to become closer with them. His sarcasm and cynicism is something that tends to slow down as you get to know him better. He desperately needs people and can barely handle a day by himself. He loves to help people, he would stay up until four in the morning to talk with a friend who needed him if they asked it of him, or even if they didn’t ask.
[ History: ] Cole was born on June 20, 1993. He was the youngest of two children, and it seemed he was babied all of his life because of this. He had always known he was special though, because even at a young age, he could make mysterious things happen. At the young age of eleven though, he received a letter, proving just what was going on, he was in fact a wizard. Up until that point he had no idea that there was anything else out there but what he would have called “the real world”.
Him and his parents were never really close, despite the fact that he was babied, his parents started having higher expectations for him, probably because they had watched his siblings grow up, and graduate, and now they were watching their last child, do something completely different: attend magic school. This was both a shock, and a disappointment to them. He stopped getting attention from them, and was literally shunned. They couldn't stand the fact that he was different from them, weird, abnormal. This only added to Cole's anger, and stress levels, causing more suspicious outburts at home.
Although they tried to tell him that he could talk to them about anything he knew that in reality he couldn’t. How could he talk to them, knowing that they hated his very being? He tried very hard to please them and do what they wanted him to do, but that rarely worked out for him. A wizard in a muggle's world is hard to manage. How can a wizard fit the mold of his muggle parents? Seeing as the muggle world is all that Cole had ever known, he was always torn up between what he wanted as a muggle, and what he needed to master as a wizard.
His parents seemed to just pile more and more stress upon him. He knows that his parents want the best for him, but for most of his life its felt like they were just pushing him in the direction that they want him to pick, not have him pick what he would like to do. Of course he realized that this was the most case for teenagers, and wizard or not, he'd have to suck it up, and deal with it. He'd just have to be what he wanted to be, and hope that his parents would understand one day.
As he grew older he began to realize this for himself a lot more strongly than he had before. It really struck him throughout his teenage years most of all. As he grew older things started happening around him that struck him as strange. He shrugged it off for a little while but eventually it got to him and he started to think that he needed to start being able to control his wizarding abilities.
Before receiving his letter though, he knew there was something more than amazing about him. The event that really made him start to believe in something bigger than himself was something altogether different from anything he had thought possible. It happened one night in his house, his family was going to have a fire in the fireplace in their living room, but his father had said something that made Cole really angry. As Cole’s father went to light the fire, the fire jumped from the match he was using and ignited his father’s arm and torso. It only burnt off his father’s sweater but Cole still knew he was the one responsible for what had happened.
He didn’t tell anyone because he was afraid that they would deem him psychotic but he knew that it had been him. Strange things kept happening when Cole started feeling particular emotions very strongly. He kept wondering for a long time what was wrong with him, or he would just ponder what there was out there.
He would always do his best to control his emotions but these things would still happen when he lost control. After receiving his letter, it all made sense, and he didn't have to explain it to his parents, they figured it out themselves, and thus, this is why he doesn't feel good enough for them, because he's not their definition of normal.
His first year at Hogwarts was nothing less than amazing, meeting many friends, and figuring out how to handle his emotions, he started becoming the glue that held everyone together, the spark of life in an otherwise dead conversation. Cole was lovable, and random, and surely belonged here. He hated going home when he had to, unable to share what was going on in his life at Hogwarts with his family, because they didn't want to be reminded of what he was.
Through the years, Cole has learned to love Hogwarts, and although he's had many hard times with his family, the good times he's had overpowers the bad times, and has made him a better person. He'd do anything for his friends, and knows where his trust lies. Often he has trouble controling his temper, but he knows that there will be someone out there, who doesn't make him feel that way, or set him off, and that will be the day he learns how to control himself.
A loyal friend, and worth adversary, Cole stands up for what is right, and is a force to be reckoned with. He loves to find the humour in things, and is never cocky. He can't wait to start his new year at Hogwarts, a place that truely feels like home. An aspiring musician, he writes lyrics during his free time at Hogwarts, and can sing quite well. He hopes to be in a band some day, and likes mostly muggle music: rock, metal, etc.
[ Pros and Cons : ] Cole has various attributes which strengthen who he is and weakens him. His strengths include a few different things.
Confidence- Cole is a very confident person in almost everything that comes with getting to know people, and he really is not afraid of what anyone thinks of him. He just simply knows what he wants and he goes after it. Not a whole lot scares him, so he is almost always ready to try something new.
Humour- Cole is extremely random and tends to make friends through his sense of humour. Although people think he is hilarious, he still knows when to turn it off and be serious with someone. He knows that someday his sense of humour is probably going to get him into trouble but that doesn’t stop him from using it.
Good friend/leader- He tends to do the best that he can in order to be there for his friends when they need him. He will always try to stay at a friend’s side when they need him, or just want to talk. He tends to be more of a leader than a follower. If he sees something is wrong with what his friends are doing he will let them know.
He is very rooted in what he believes and wants, and this tends to draw people together. He tends to be the glue in a group of friends that he is hanging out with, if he isn’t there, or leaves the rest of the group he is hanging out with tends to leave and do the same thing.
Cole is not all strong however; he does have his downfalls just like anyone else. These attributes just make him who he is and in certain ways add strength to him by making him learn life lessons.
Temper – Cole has an extremely bad temper. He can tolerate a lot but eventually he will snap, and when he does nobody will ever want to be around him. For the most part he can control it but there have been many times where it has slipped out and he has said something or done something that he really regrets.
Trust – Cole tends not to trust anyone, he has been burned far too many times in his past to let anyone in. People have to make a really big effort to get to know him, and even once they do know him he still might not trust them due to his past experience with trusting people.
Brutally honest – Most of the time Cole is extremely honest with people; he tends to say exactly what he thinks. He doesn’t do this with the intent of hurting people, but it does happen; he just expects that when someone says they want his honest opinion he can give it to them without having to worry about offending them. He does censor this somewhat but it still comes out more than he would like.
[Role Playing Example:] Cole watched from across the room as the boy was surrounded by them. Cole saw the leader glance at him with an almost scared look. He got up and walked purposefully to the group of older students picking on the young boy.
He walked up to the leader of all of this and grabbed his shoulder and turned him to face him. Cole stared into the leader’s eyes with a look that was as cold as ice. They just stared at each other back and forth for a minute; Cole’s dark brown eyes piercing the leader’s light green eyes. Cole spoke with a level tone and said extremely calmly “Leave the kid alone.” Cole said this so flatly and plainly it was scary in its own way. The leader of the older guys turned to the rest of the group and with a shaky tone in his voice said “...come on guys...lets...go.”
The boy who had been surrounded turned to Cole and asked “What are you going to do to me?” Cole chuckled a little bit and smiled at the boy. He turned to the boy and said “Nothing... just trying to protect you.” The boy’s expression changed; from fear into shock. The boy asked “Why would you do that?” Cole looked straight into the boy’s eyes and said “Because it’s the right thing to do.” Cole turned to walk away and he heard from somewhere behind him the boy’s gentle voice say “Thank you.” Cole didn’t turn back, he just simply continued to walk away simply thinking to himself “That escalated quickly.” As he walked out of the door he turned left down the hall and saw all of the older guys who had been picking on the little boy, so he started walking towards them.
As he drew nearer to them they moved away from him to the sides of the hall and cleared a path for him to walk through. He had to fight from bursting out with laughter when he saw this happen. He was simply thinking how funny it was that people found him that intimidating when he tried, and that they still did even when he wasn’t trying.
He turned into the library and got the book he needed to read for his class. He walked to the back of the library, leaned against the wall and slowly lowered himself to the floor. He began to read his book and realized he knew most of what it was saying already. Cole closed the book abruptly, blowing a long lock of hair out of his face with a huff. Today was just going to be one of those days, wasn't it?
