{This is a NEWT level course. The minimum OWL grade is an E}
It was her area of expertise, the subject she had spent years researching. She had traveled all over the world seeking them out, reading all the research available and contributing quite a bit of her own.
Unfortunately, it would be another boring theoretical lesson. It was hardly practical to take a trip out to Loch Ness or bring her favorite of all creatures to the Hogwarts grounds. She had tried once and the Squid would have none of it.
The classroom was set up as usual with the charts on the board depicting maps and strange looking water creatures. The most curious diagram was the layout of the school grounds which had little marks all across the lake.
Becca pinned another chart on the wall as she waited for the students.
{guys, this is Becca's area of expertise, but please go easy on me. As a writer, I can only go by the information that's already out there. I will play along with anything you make up as long as I find it reasonable, deal?}

Probably her favourite class out of all of those at Hogwarts and Felicity wasn't even excited about it. Without Drew being there as he was the previous year, it just didn't sound like it'd be as much fun, though she was going to do her best, at least in this class because it was all important to what she wanted to do in life. But besides having a number of friends in the lesson, Felicity also liked their Professor, a woman who had allowed the blonde to help out the previous year and she was hoping she'd still be allowed to do a bit around the stables again. It would keep her mind busy and give her something to talk to Drew about when she wrote him. Besides, with having given up her position on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team, she needed something to take up her free time again. There was no newspaper, the Quidditch, no Drew, she was finding her time to be in excess and was wondering what clubs were offered around the school. Once she'd heard about a choir but she wasn't sure about joining.
Entering the classroom, Felicity took her usual desk near the middle of the room, dropping her bag on the desktop but she didn't sit down. Instead, she crossed the room and started looking at the wall hangings Davenport had put up. Without a word Felicity studied them as well as she could, not really making heads nor tails of them. Directions and maps weren't her best tools.

Sophia entered the classroom with a spring in her step. When she was a younger girl, she always had a fondness for animals, like leopards and sloths and vipers. Nothing ever deterred her from this passion, not even when all of her friends ran from her house screaming because she had shown them her pet axolotl. All animals to her were 'cute' and 'adorable', no matter what anyone else said. Her magnanimous heart wouldn't allow her to hate anything.
When she learned about Magizoology, her heart seemed to grow ten billion sizes bigger. To know that there were more animals in the world to learn about was fascinating and exciting. Sophia was always curious to learn more about these animals and what sorts of things they could do. Today was no exception.
She took a seat in the classroom and looked around to see maps and charts. Cartography wasn't her strong point, but if she was correct, one map in particular was of the school. It was boggling. There were also pictures of strange creatures immersed in water...but what were they?
Felicity, her fellow Gryffindor, seemed to be looking around for answers. Sophia almost joined her...almost. She didn't want to seem intrusive though, so she sat at her desk and waited.

Jason walked outside, It was a beautiful early fall day as he walked to his next class. Jason had one other class that day then he could spend the rest of the day studying and goofing off. Jason smiled as he walked down to the old hut that was and Care of Magical Creatures class room. "Living risky, never scared, wander Closer to the edge Nothing valued think no fear, Always wondering why youre here All your purposes are gone, nothings Right and nothings wrong Nothing ventured, nothing gained Feel no sorrow, feel no pain Kiss me while Im still alive Kill me while I kiss the sky Let me die on my own terms,Let me live and let me learn Now Ill follow my own way, and Ill Live on to another damn day Freedom carries sacrifice, Remember when this was my life" Jason sang to himself quietly. He stopped when one of the school screech owls landed on his shoulder. He laughed "Hey there Kooda, mail call was this morning, whatcha got there" He asked as he took the letter out of the owls beak. "well thank you" He said as the owl flew off. Jason looked at the letter as he walked into the classroom. He saw two other students that beat him there. He recognized them both, Felicity Hjort, Drew's girl friend that he never really formally met and Sophia Crawford Delilah's friend. He smiled as he set his bag on the floor next to his desk.

Connor tried his best to fasten up his tie, but it was proving difficult with his owl, Harold, constantly poking him. He gave the bird an annoyed glance, hoping that it would simply drop the letter and go. Alas, though, as Connor finally managed to fix up his tie, the fowl creature kept at the pecking. " What do you want? " He muttered as he finally paid the owl a spare bit of attention as he ran through a list of things he needed to grab before he walked down to his Magizoology lesson. " Get... " Easily enough as soon as Connor took the letter directly from the bird, and gave it a light pat on the head, it was on it's way. He shrugged it off slightly, flattening down his hair before he grabbed the letter in his left hand and his black backpack slinging from the crook of his right arm. There was something he was missing, though...
" Badges. Right... " He trailed off as he back tracked and located his Captain's badge as well as his Head Boy badge. He was all over the place today, and now he was decently afraid of being late to one of his first lessons of the year.
The badges safely in his pocket Connor tossed his pack up to sling over both his shoulders and finally had time to look at the letter that was still in his hands. Connor recognized the curly feminine handwriting as belonging to his mother's immediately and wondered what on earth was so important that the owl couldn't wait. Deciding that it could wait, whatever it was. Despite the slow start, Connor was in a decent mood as he finally left the castle and made his way to the magizoology classroom. He quietly let himself into the room, issuing a, " Hullo Professor, " as he moved past the woman and found a seat. " Felicity, " He said with a small smile to the Gryffindor girl. " Sophia, Jason. How's it going? " He asked as he noticed his two other fellow students already seated like himself.

Delilah figured it was just another day. She threw on a plain white t-shirt and some faded blue jeans, pulling on her some how still white sneakers, and of course, the usual robes that had to go over them. She never thought about her own badges any more, because she left them pinned to her robes, which didn't get to smelly or dirty, she was a girl after all. Delilah grabbed her bottomless bag, which came very handy in this life, she made her way to her favorite class. She grinned broadly, hoping that today would be a better day.
Walking to Potions, she spotted other seventh years making thier way there, including Jason, and Connor. She grinned, and quickly followed them into the classroom. She felt like such a little kid for some reason today, so giddy for no apparent reason. That's how kids are, right? Delilah shook the thought from her mind, and smiled at those she knew, who seemed to all be grouped together. "Hey guys, how goes?" She asked, deciding to sit in front of Sophia, letting her rather large bag, drop to the floor next to her.

Sophia beamed as her two favorite Slytherins entered the room, along with Jason, a...well...a person of interest. She threw a glance first at Delilah, then at Jason as Delilah's bag hit the ground with a hard thud. "Hey you guys! It's going excellently, thank you." She nodded in Connor's direction as well as to Delilah. Her eyes quickly flitted back to the bag of the girl in front of her.
"Delilah, what could possibly be in that bag? Maybe a little First Year or something? Keeping them as pets is definitely not allowed." She smiled mischievously. She chuckled a little bit and eyed the door to see if anyone else would enter today. The classroom was sorely lacking in Hufflepuffs, that was for sure. She wondered if any badgers would join the students in their underwater lesson today.

Thankfully today was a beautiful day for care of magical creatures so leaving the castle wasn't an issue. This had been one of Anna's favorite classes and it sometimes seemed like a break from the tradition everyone sit at your desk type of class. At least from the morning until now Anna had some time to pull herself together from her rude awakening. In fact, she was surprise she remembered to put on her badge and tie today. Normally if the gryff stumbled out of the the way she did today those things would be long forgotten back up at the dorm.
So today's class appeared to be in the classroom but that was alright as long as class was interesting. Strolling in Anna once again saw the faces of her housemates as well as her other seventh years. The mere face that this was the seventh year was still a shocker. Picking a seat the girl wasn't really paying too much attention to what was going on around her. Lookin around again really quick Anna realized that this class might feel a bit strange without Tristan but she was just going to have to get past the phase eventually.

Delilah let out a small laugh. She wouldn't know what she would do in these classes if her friends weren't here... well, perhaps she'd study, but, that was besides the point. She loved having her friends there, to joke with, and study with, but more so, to not do as much work as she usually would, or think about it as often as she did before she had friends.
The small Slytherin girl gave her bag a small kick, making sure she wouldn't break anything but was still trying to have fun. "Oh this? I have everything in this." She said, in a sarcastic tone, but she was actually being serious. Her bottomless bag had everything she'd ever need, for every class, and didn't way much more than your regular heavy bag. Delilah leaned over her chair to whisper rather loudly at Sophia, "And the First Year thing... that'll be our little secret." She said with a wink.

Celina's mind was constantly humming her father's words from that previous summer. What to do... what not to do... how she had failed him as a daughter... how that wouldn't remain the case. Celina stood up straight, walking toward the classroom, her parcel up to protect her frailness as it was supposed to. She was fragile, unable to look over herself. Celina's father had said so, so it had to be true. But every once and a while, her mother's voice would squeak into her mind.
There were nights over the summer where Celina couldn't move out from her bed some mornings. Whether it was fear of what the day was about to bring, or just pain from the previous day, Celina tried her hardest no to allow her laziness to be noticed by her father too much. It hadn't been, thanks to her Mother's help, but every once and a while she'd slip in some of her own advice and lessons to the girl. One such lesson was how she was able to keep her friends without claiming to herself a failure.
Her father said that connections were all she needed in life. Her mother told her that connections started out as friendships and therefore, keeping her friends close was acceptable. It wasn't what her father wanted, but he never knew of her mother's sayings. Another was that Celina was to keep her mouth shut when not spoken to. That of course was to her elders, according to her mother. Her friends were her equals and to keep the connections she had to speak with them. Therefore, as different as Celina now was... she had to keep her friends in order to keep the connections and speaking with them was the way to do that.
This is what she had thought about all day, especially, when her friends looked so concerned about why she acted now the way she did. Proper... a success... better than before. Celina entered the classroom and noticed Anna first, sitting somewhat near Connor as always... wheather she noticed or not, Celina didn't pay any mind to. The four friends always sat near enough most of the time any ways. Connor was next, a free seat next to him on either side, and soon one would be taken by her as it had been so many times before in the past. Felicity, no where to be found in the seats, was found by Celina's wandering eyes to be standing in the front next to the maps and such. Celina smiled, and yet felt guilty for doing so. Her father wouldn't be too pleased with the company she held, for what kind of connections could they all really be? She wondered, but her mother's voice chimed in and Celina just went with that. She was following the rules laid out. End of story.
Walking forward, Celina took the seat next to Connor that left Anna on her other side. "This should be an interesting class," Celina said nonchalant like. She really did think it would be, but only could act so excited without going against the rules of how a woman should act. Celina watched Felicity and sighed slightly wondering if her life was even half as demanding... before looking down to her lap where her hands were then folded.

Jason leaned back in his chair looking at the letter that was brought to him. He opened it and began to read, it was from his cousin Kaylee. When Sophia made the crack about Delilah keeping a first year as a pet Jason raised one hand in the air "I agree with Sophia, you cant keep a first year as a pet, fifth years work so much better" Jason said with a smart ass grin across his face. He lowered his hand not taking his eyes off the letter "First years work better at footballs, there much easier to kick around" He continued with a playful grin still not taking his eyes off the letter.

Matty had always enjoyed classes that balanced theory and practical. Though, in saying that, she did prefer practical classes - but you couldn't always get what you wanted, right? Anyway, the fact was, that with this new coming year, the Hufflepuff girl was looking forward to this NEWT level stage of Care of Magical Creatures. Since she had picked it as an elective three years ago now, the teen had allot of fond memories that revolved around those classes. As Matilda made her way to the theory room, she hummed absently. Hopefully, the girl wouldn't be the only sixth year in this class, given the circumstances. She was tied in with the seventh years this semester, as opposed to being with the now fifth years like last year. She had grown rather fond of the grade one year her junior, considering Emeric was in it, but there was nothing Matty could do to change that.
She entered the class with a small smile, recognizing most, if not all the older students in the class. Feeling a bit like the outcast, though, the sixth year passed the group of seventh years. "Hey, guys." she said brightly, not wanting to appear coy. Heck, anyone who knew the girl knew that she wasn't generally shy. She took a seat a couple of rows from the middle, hoping, preying that someone she knew had made this class too.

Sophia turned around to see Jason as he agreed with her sentiment. "Oh right, Jason, you keep one in your back pocket. I must have forgotten." She laughed. Delilah's bag was soooo big. It was like, the kind that hobos lived out of. She dismissed it though. Things that are useful don't always have to be aesthetically pleasing. Actually, the bag would probably just grow on her as the year went on.
She smiled as Matty entered. It seemed that the three girls, Delilah, Matty, and herself, had a boat-load of the same classes. She glanced back at the Ravenclaw boy, deciding that she should probably get to know him. "So Jason, how was your summer?"

Lost in the wall hangings as she was, Felicity hardly paid attention to anyone else that entered, though she was able to throw a smile in Connor's direction when he greeted her. Everything that had to deal with creatures intrigued the young blonde, one reason she greatly appreciated Davenport's classes, and the fact the woman allowed her to work after classes with her now and then she had a particular fondness for the older woman.
Hearing the mindless chatter, like a bad background noise in her mind while trying to make more heads than tails of the hangings, Felicity realized it was a losing battle. Instead, the young blonde turned back toward the class and re-claimed her seat in the middle of the classroom, not far from anyone else and started to dig through her bag, coming up with a pen and paper for notes. She knew the lesson was pertaining to water creatures, more Davenport's area of expertise than her own interest kept. However, Felicity knew she wouldn't mind too much once the lesson was actually started.

Delilah grinned at Jason, "Oh come on now, can we not pick on the First Years, I have to make a good impression..." Delilah said, almost grudginly. He seemed to be rather preoccupied with a letter he was reading. A look of concern washed over her face, last time that happened, it was anything but good news. The concern quickly passed though, she didn't want to ask him about it here, and Sophia had just asked him how his summer was. "Yeah Jason, how was your summer?" She said, playfulness in her tone of voice. Oh, she could tell Sophia about at least two weeks of his summer, but she'd rather poke at him now, Mr. Fifth Years Are Better Pets.
