Accepted: welcome to the Wizarding World!
[ Full Character Name: ] Caleb James Walker
[ Character Gender: ] Male
[Character Age:] 18
[ Profession Requesting: ] Healer-In-Training
[ Country of Citizenship: ] England
[ Physical Character Description: ] Caleb is a handsome looking boy, tall and dark. He is 6 feet and half an inch tall, and is still a growing young man. In many ways, he looks exactly like his father, or so his mother says. Caleb has a rather bulky build, with wide shoulders and a broad chest. He has much more upper body strength than the average teenage boy, but that's only because he's worked hard and been pushed hard to be that way. His father always insisted that Walker men were "strong and proud" so it was drilled into Caleb to be that way. However, his facial features take more after his mother, and are soft and boyish. His chocolate brown eyes always look warm and when he grins his boyish grin, they seem to light up. While Caleb knows that he is rather good-looking, he doesn't flaunt it. Girls have always been attracted to his looks and while he doesn't ignore it, he doesn't gloat in it either. He's very cute, but he knows he's not perfect.
If he had something to complain about concerning his features, it would be his nose. As mothers do, his own insists that it's cute, but Caleb thinks otherwise. His nose is rather large and flat and he just hates it. But it's really his dignifying feature, setting him apart from everybody else. Another thing Caleb would complain about are his teeth. Two of them are rather pointed and stick out slightly, so when he smiles they look like fangs. As a boy, Caleb thought these were rather cool and actually pretended he was a vampire (but nobody will EVER know that) but as he got older and started to care more about his appearance, the novelty of it wore off. And since his parents had an extremely irrational fear of Muggle contraptions, braces were out of the question. His odd teeth have never affected the way he speaks for anything, but it's more out of vanity's sake that he wants them fixed. Around his pointy teeth, however, are a pair of light pink, full lips, one of the few things he got from his father. Most of his father's feature he received are in his build and musculature structure, but everything else basically he got from his mom. Even most of his personality traits.
Caleb's style of dress is fairly casual. He doesn't really dress up a lot, but can mainly be found in jeans and a t-shirt of some sort. His least favourite thing to wear is a suit and tie, but he does clean up pretty nicely. The one thing he absolutely cannot stand are sneakers. Caleb will either be wearing boots of some sort or dress shoes, but never runners. Caleb simply can’t stand the feel of them and refuses to wear them.
[ Personality Character Description: ]From a young age, some personality traits were shoved down Caleb's throat. Things such as honestly and loyalty were always valued in the Walker household. It helped, however, to make Caleb who he is today. He's just one of those majorly good guys and he likes helping people. For the longest time, people have looked at Caleb more as the 'best friend', the shoulder to cry on, one to go to advice for, just never the boyfriend. But through the years as he matured more, he learned to grow with it. Now he's just the brother all the girls go to. But in all honestly, Caleb knows how to keep a secret. He just doesn't have it in him to backstab somebody. He's a friendly guy, and enjoys the friendships he has. Caleb's just doesn't like to be mean. He wouldn't intentionally hurt someone, even if they deserved it.
Chivalrous would be another word to describe Caleb. He never backs down from a challenge and doesn't scare easily. It's not that he likes to play the hero or wants all the attention, he just likes to help people and would do anything he had to to give someone a hand. He's the kind of guy who would walk a friend home in the dark, even if his own house was in the exact opposite direction. There's not a whole lot he wouldn't do for someone if they asked him for help. Caleb doesn't ever expect anything in return when he performs a good deed, other than the satisfaction of helping someone. Sometimes it's even the little things that Caleb does. He's the kind of guy you would call in to squash a bug and he'd gladly get rid of it for you. All in all, he's just a good guy that likes to help out.
Caleb is a diligent young man, hard-working and stubborn. He works hard to get what he wants and short-cuts don't really appeal to him. Caleb likes the feeling of accomplishing something on his own without scamming his way through it. If he feels he hasn’t done his absolute best, he’ll even scrap it and start again, if it comes to that. He knows he’s moving way too fast for his age, but Caleb thinks it’s a good thing. He knows he needs to grow up sometime and with the end of his school career fast approaching, Caleb constantly pushes himself to be the best he came be in everything he does. It’s not in him to just give up on something, and even if the odds of him achieving a goal are slim to none, he’ll still take that chance and push it, hoping for the best.
While he’s got some dark secrets in his past, Caleb is probably one of the most guarded people on the planet. His life is just that; his life. People who don’t need to know what’s going on with him will never find out about his life. There’s just no reason for it. Caleb doesn’t trust easily and you have to earn it if you want him to confide in you. He’s uncomfortable talking about his life and family, so he just keeps to himself mostly. He can get overprotective about his secrets as well, and often tends to think people know what’s going on with him, even when they have no idea. It just terrifies Caleb that someone might find out, so he does whatever he can to keep it quiet.
Caleb’s weakness would probably be the fact that he is eternally forgiving. He can forgive anyone for pretty much anything and couldn’t hold a grudge even if he tried. He just doesn’t enjoy being mad at people and can’t stand people who just won’t let something go. He tries to keep and open mind and hear both sides of an argument before he makes the decision as to whether or not he’ll like someone, or simple respect the fact that they exist. He wouldn’t go out of his way to avoid someone he wasn’t keen on, but he wouldn’t go out of his way to be nice to them either. Caleb tries to be as neutral as he can, and also tries to stay out on confrontations. He’s a peaceful kid and would like to stay that way. He certainly takes after his mother with his patience.
No matter what’s going on around him or in his life, Caleb tries to stay optimistic. He doesn’t like being sad, so he tries to look on the bright side and find the silver lining in every situation. That doesn’t mean Caleb doesn’t have his days where he’s just bogged down unsociable because everybody has those. He’s not perfect, but he tries to stay positive. He finds life easier that way.
[ History: ] The reign of Lord Voldemort was a terrible time for wizard, witches and Muggles alike. Terror awaited around every corner and nowhere was safe. Voldemort had many followers, including one James Walker, only at the age of 16. Joining the ranks near the end of Voldemort’s first reign, James Walker had little time to reek havoc on the wizarding community. In a desperate attempt during a crazed time, James Walker allowed himself to be bitten by a werewolf, in hopes of keeping Lord Voldemort in power. Such a young mind was poisoned at an early age, however his attempts were futile in his quest to become Voldemort’s golden boy. James Walker was never even recognized by the Dark Lord.
Sometime after the fall of Lord Voldemort, James Walker met a beautiful girl by the name of Victoria Kingsley; an angel from a Pureblood family who “cured” James of his wicked ways. But there was one thing that the young girl, no matter how beautiful, could cure. James Walker was to remain a werewolf for the rest of his days, but his thirst for blood had cooled since meeting the beautiful young Victoria.
Over the years, James and Victoria lived as normal a life as they could, marrying young and starting a life together. At age 18, James and Victoria were expecting their first child. However, due to complications, the child was lost before it was born and the two were devastated. It took them a long time to move on before they decided they were ready to try again. Caleb James walker was brought into the world on September 9, 1992. It was only a few short years later that Voldemort returned again.
As Voldemort had returned, James felt like he needed another chance to impress the Dark Lord. Against Victoria’s wishes, James returned to Voldemort’s ranks. He left Victoria and his newborn son Caleb at home while he left to fight for the Dark Lord. It was another devastation that Victoria could barely handle.
Caleb Walker lived a fairly quiet life during his childhood. He rarely saw his father, for he was always off on “business” as his mother told him. Young, naïve Caleb never thought twice about it, for it was always an exciting time when Daddy came home for a visit. Sometimes, he would even bring a couple of his friends over at the same time and as Caleb grew older, he realized how much his mum disliked having his dad’s “friends” there. The older Caleb got, the more he realized that his father wasn’t the great man he’d been led to believe. He was a loyal servant of Lord Voldemort, and it wasn’t until the end of Voldemort’s second reign that Caleb became aware of the war going on around him. His mum had done quite the job, keeping it from him for all those years.
As Caleb grew, his father got more and more distant. Eventually, he just stopped coming home at all and Caleb was left with his mother, a complete nervous wreck who couldn’t even perform the simplest of tasks. By the age of 10, Caleb was cooking meals for himself and doing the housework. By age 11, his mother had become a rather nasty drunk and a nasty creature to look after. When Caleb finally began attending magic school, his mum’s sister finally stepped in to help. While the young Caleb was away, busy with his studies, his Aunt Ellis was home, looking after his mother. Caleb was told that, should people ask, his father was dead and his mum was simply a stay-at-home kind of woman. He wasn’t to tell anyone that his father was with the likes of Lord Voldemort and a werewolf, or that his mum downed Firewhiskeys as though they were bottles of water. It was difficult for Caleb to cope with things, but being so far away at a boarding school made it easier.
During this past summer, there another shattering series of events in the Walker household. Home for the summer break, Caleb was sitting with his mother in her room when his father and other followers of Voldemort attacked and ransacked the house. Unable to defend herself, Caleb’s mother was tortured into madness with the Cruciatus Curse. Caleb was grabbed by his aunt and whisked away from the danger quickly, but not before he watched his father leap in from of his mother, taking the Killing Curse square in the chest. In Caleb’s eyes, his father still went out a hero, in a moment of redemption and has had no problem getting over his death. His mother, however, he’s had a little more trouble with.
Now that his mum is currently residing in St. Mungo’s Hospital, Caleb was forced to change schools and attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry instead. Coming in more than half-way through his last year , he knew it was going to be a hard transition. But it had been for the sake of his mum and was determined to do whatever it took to catch up and graduate.
After leaving Hogwarts, Caleb’s dream had been to become an Auror-- anything to be the exact opposite of his father and prove he’s nothing like him. But he was unable to pursue his dream and instead found another way to help people. Caleb entered the Healer training program at St. Mungo’s hospital which allows him to keep an eye on his mother as well as making a living for himself.
[ Pros and Cons : ] Caleb is a pretty quiet boy when it comes to talking about his family and past. He’s protective of his life and doesn’t just throw it around to anybody who happens to be walking past. He made a promise to his mum that he would keep it to himself and Caleb isn’t one to betray loyalties. However, considering Caleb doesn’t tell anyone anything, that also means he doesn’t let people in and frequently pushes them away. Caleb doesn’t really have many friends which is a downside, leaving him quite lonely most of the time.
Caleb is pretty brave when it comes to dangerous stuff, but often it leads people to believe he’s trying to be some great hero. He’s not. He just likes helping people and puts them before himself. He’s always done it and always will, no matter what people say.
Working hard has always been Caleb’s way. He pushes himself, frequently too hard and he doesn’t give up. However, sometimes when he goes overboard, he cane become ridiculously stubborn about it. He’s not one to change his mind and more often than not, his attempt is futile and he just ends up hurting himself.

[Writing/Role Playing Example:] With a big yawn, Caleb forced himself to stay upright as he walked the halls. Some of these on-call nights were nearly unbearable but the rest of the training made up for it. There was nothing better to Caleb than helping people and there was the added bonus of being able to see his mum more often. When she recognized him, it was a lot easier to be around her. But when she mistook him for his father, Caleb had a bit of a difficult time staying professional and doing his job. Yawning again, Caleb walked past her room.
“Caleb?” a soft voice called out just as the young man had gone by. Caleb, not sure if the voice was real or not, stopped dead in his tracks. He really didn’t have time to deal with this right now, but she was still technically his patient and he had a responsibility. The man turned around and walked back into the room to check on what it is she wanted.
“What is it, Mother?” he asked in his soft, low voice. During the times when other Healers and patients were around, she was always Mrs. Walker. Caleb had to be professional and coming in and calling her “mom” wasn’t really allowed.
“Just sit with me, my love,” she asked him. Irritation rose in Caleb, but he forced himself forward and took a seat next to her bed. Caleb struggled to lock his jaw and hold in another yawn that was trying to force its way out.
“I have to get back to work, Mother,” Caleb told her, starting to get annoyed. But when his eyes met hers, the soft spot in his heart took over and his eyes lowered. The training Healer took his mother’s hand in his and he let himself look at her once more.
“I’ll stay with you until you fall asleep, okay?” the young man offered. Without a word, her eyes had closed.
