Emeric still felt a little uneasy about the forest, and why Matty had decided to choose the forest for their hanging out time, but he didn't bring it up. She knew what she was doing as always, and he still had his wand on him if needed and was almost sure she had hers as well. He knew he really shouldn't be worrying quite so much about it, but he still did anyway, only relaxing a little bit once they were in the little clearing where their ' campsite ' had been set up. He was glad he wore jeans and a hoodie now, because he knew he would be comfortable.
He snickered lightly at her comment, shaking his head with a short amount of laughter. " You're too thoughtful. " Really, she was with the whole set up and everything she had planned without Em's knowledge, but for the sake of what they had been talking about he was merely joking around. " Uh, huh. " He said with a small nod of his head, glad to see that she liked them. The girl slipped the candies into her pocket, and Em turned his attention back to the scene in front of him. In one word it was magical, and he could hardly believe that Matty had set it all up just so they could spend the evening together.
Again, he paused, looking at the tent. The entrance was facing the fire, and Em figured that she must have put it up so they could watch the fire, something they both had gotten amusement out of during their little excursion at the makeshift beach. It was a nice little touch, and combined with the small little river swirling with the colors of the setting sun, to Emeric it was perfectly cheesey and adorable, two things perfect for him and Matty at that moment.
" It's wonderful, really. " He said with another smile, agreeing that it did look ' cozy, ' though. He turned to look back at the picnic area set up for the two of them and nodded his head. " I'm starving. " He replied with a small grin.

Matty wasn't so much scared of the forest these days. Well, not at the moment, anyway. She had roamed around the area enough to know which places were safer than others, and the teenager believed that the clearing wasn't any kind of meeting ground for a pack of wild animals or anything. Alike her boyfriend, the girl had made sure to keep her wand on her person, and it was concealed in the same pocket that she had just placed the sweets in. Honestly, Matty was more anxious of someone stumbling upon the couple, rather than being approached by a sinister creature. The fact that Em was with her, gave Matty a somewhat sense of security.
Smiling still as the Slytherin again confirmed that he did like it, the Hufflepuff was assured now to think so. It was just the right balance of cheesy romance, and comfort and amusement for them both, really. Matty let out a small laugh when the boy added the fact that he was starving, and so she gave a nod, agreeing with him. "Good thing the house Elf's packed enough to feed the whole school, then." the girl exaggerated in a joking manor. They hadn't packed quite that much, but probably more than both teenagers could eat in one night. Leading Emeric from where they were standing, Matty approached the picnic blanket, and sat down facing the fire and the small river.
She waited until Em sat down too, before pulling open the top of the basket. Inside, the basket had been magically enchanted to hold more than it appeared to be able to. Assorted sandwiches and fruits were stuffed inside. Cheese and crackers, chips, salads, containers of cold meats. Cookies, cakes, brownies, and even a few packets of mixed lollies were all packed within. There was also a small cooler bag inside, which Matty pulled out. Again, it had been magically enhanced, and there were a few bottles of butter beer in it, as well as juices, water and a couple of muggle drinks. The girl removed two cups and plates from the basket, before pouring herself a glass of dark grape juice. "You won't find any wine or spirits in there, Em. Sorry, but I couldn't take any risks." the teased, nodding to wards the bag of drinks. She then helped herself to ham, lettuce, cheese, avocado and tomato on Turkish bread, and taking a bite out of the rich food.

Em’s eyes remained fixed on Matty, his smile warmly lighting his face as he looked at the fifth year girl. He could think of a lot of words to sum the girl up, but in one he would always choose amazing. Sure, she was beautiful and funny and charming, but it was all of these things about Matty that made her really amazing in the Slytherin’s eyes. She liked him for who he was, despite all of the extra stuff that he brought along with him, and he was thankful for that.
Despite his put together and hard exterior, Em thought things like that a lot. He didn’t say them as much as he wanted to, especially when it came to Matty and telling her how he felt about her, but he was pretty sure she knew anyway. He guessed that was another good thing about Matty, he didn’t exactly have to say the words for her to know that they were true. He let his anxiety about being in the forest die away, trusting that he was safe enough. Besides… it had been a long time since he had heard one of those ‘ crazed animals in the forest ‘ stories. He wasn’t the most amazing spellcaster, but he knew he was sufficient enough.
He laughed at the Hufflepuff’s exaggeration, knowing that it was just that – an exaggeration, although he wouldn’t put it past the basket to be able to hold enough to feed the entire castle. He wouldn’t be surprised, because magic was magic and it could do extraordinary things. “ Oh yeah? Good thing, ‘cause I’m really hungry. “ He wasn’t starving, as it had only been a relatively short time since he had eaten, but it was alright to play along. His stomach grumbled slightly, protesting that he was hungry.
Emeric sat himself down next to Matty on the blanket, peering into the depths of the basket as the girl pulled a few items out of it. There were lots of food and snacking items, chips and sandwich making items, salads and drinks as well. He shook his head at her comment, giving a mock exasperated sigh before replying, “ But Matty. I was so looking forward to you having to drag me back to my common room. “ He let a half smirk develop onto his features as he helped himself to a bottle of butterbeer. He popped open the cap and poured it into the cup offered to him. Em held the cup up in the air to clink it with Matty’s, saying, “ Here’s to… uh… “ He trailed off, not knowing what they should toast to. He grinned slightly, looking at Matty to finish his statement.

As Emeric's eyes remained fixed on Matty, the girl made sure to hold his gaze. While her green eyes were able to lull on the sight of his own brown ones, she was able to let her thoughts reflect on everything. Frankly, she had been scared at first, about this whole thing. There were so many things that couple have gone wrong. What if Em had been playing her for a fool? Now that she looked back, Matty had to hold back from slapping herself at this thought. These days, the teenager couldn't even imagine Emeric leading her on, or playing around with her emotions like that. Now that she knew him, much much better. Another thing she had been anxious of was just how well they would get along, while dating. What Matty had hoped for in this relationship had been tripled, or increased at a higher level, which simply meant that she loved every moment she spent with him. Past his layers, Emeric was everything she needed at the moment.
Everything that she wanted, too.
Grinning still, as the boy again commenting on being hungry, Matty nodded again. When she had set out for help from the elf's, they had been more than happy to help her. Sure, the Hufflepuff had been sure to leave out Em's name, for she wasn't exactly sure if the little creatures were one s to gossip or not, but she had merely mentioned 'It's for a picnic with a friend' no boyfriends or such needed to be added. Matty wasn't ashamed of the Slytherin, in any way or form, but she knew that even leaking such information to the elf's may jepridse what they have. But anyway, back on track, they had pretty much stuffed whatever seemed fitting for a picnic in there, and Matty didn't make any objections. There was no stopping them, anyway, so she didn't mind.
"But Matty. I was so looking forward to you having to drag me back to my common room." The Hufflepuff rolled her eyes at him, setting down her food on a plate. She let her mind roll for a moment, before replying. "You wish, love. If that was the case, you would be spending the night in that tent right there," Matty paused, nodding to the tent with a evil smile. "And you'd only be lucky if I brought you aspirin in the morning." the girl continued to tease. When Em raised his cup to clink it with her own, the girl picked up her own cup. "Heres to taking the dive." she finished his sentence, knowing full well that the boy would understand what she was walking about. Before either of them had a chance to drink, the girl placed a quick kiss on her boyfriend's cheek, smiling while doing so. Then finally she took a sip to their toast, as it was well worth it.

He couldn’t say for sure what exactly his own eyes held in them, although he could venture a guess to say they showed his happiness, and contentment at the situation. Those were things he currently saw etched into the fierce green eyes looking back into his. They had shared kisses before, and as intimate as that was, there was a different kind of intimacy to just staring into Matty’s eyes. He felt open, and he didn’t mind the feeling, as scary as it was to experience. She was worth it, plain and simple.
“ Hm.. “ He hummed softly, more to himself than anything else, as he reached down into the basket and retrieved the first thing his hand touched, a bag of pretzels. While he hadn’t exactly been craving pretzels, he wasn’t opposed to them either. He ripped open the bag easily and grabbed several, taking a few more seconds to look around. He felt a little guilty, wasn’t it the guy’s job to organize the romantic endeavors such as this? He attempted to brush the thoughts away, but it dug at him slightly. He wasn’t upset with Matty for doing this, but he knew it would be his job to create something more extravagant for the next time they did something special.
“ Spending the night in the tent? “ He scrunched up his nose in distaste at the idea. While he wouldn’t mind it so much if the girl was with him, he wouldn’t expect to sleep too much. He would expect to talk with her mostly, and the idea of spending the night alone in the tent didn’t sound all that fun. “ Aspirin? Ha, thanks Matts. Maybe I wouldn’t need the painkillers if you just stayed with me. “ He was kidding, but he wanted to see what she said to his statement anyway. ’ Heres to taking the dive. ‘ Emeric nodded his head, finding her toast fitting. “ And to coming out alive. “ He whispered into Matty’s ear as she placed a light kiss on his cheek, a small smile on his face as she pulled away and they both sipped lightly at their drinks.

Could you see love through someone's eyes? Matty wasn't sure, nor did she know if one could read love through another's eyes. But what that girl felt when she looked Emeric directly in the eyes, and held his gaze, well, she could almost feel her emotions for him spilling from her eyes, in invisible tears of happiness. For all it was worth, she didn't care in which way their relationship showed itself, or not showed itself in this case. As long as Matty had him in her life, she was happy, and the girl had a feeling that he felt the same way.
Matty nodded again when he mentioned staying in the tent alone. She noticed the way that he scrunched up his nose in dislike, and the teenager's evil smile was now traced with signs of laughter that seemed to want to push through. At his mention of not needed the painkillers, and having her instead, the Hufflepuff looked at the tent, and back to Em. She considered the thought seriously for a moment. She kind of liked the idea of it, but she had to take in the cons of the idea. They would both be gone for the night, and whether people noticed or not, neither of them could control. And, well, in the unlikely event of someone stumbling upon them, that wouldn't go down to well. If they did seriously consider it though, Matty was willing to take those risks. In the means of joking though, which was the manor that they were getting at, the Hufflepuff simply rolled her eyes. "I dunno, Em. Despite the fact that you are quite the charmer, I'm not entirely sure you would make the best companion as a rambling drinker." she teased.
"And to coming out alive." As he whispered it in her ear, Matty's smile broke out again. She knew that he had been equally, if not more anxious about the outcome to them 'taking the dive'. But in fact, they had both come out on top of the situation, and were now enjoying it every step of the way. After finishing the sip, Matts placed her drink back down, before picking up her food and taking another bite. She noted the pretzels that Emeric had gotten from the basket, and was glad that there was such a variety of food in there.

For a while, all Em could do was smile at her, she had rendered him speechless and he didn’t even know why. Sure, Emeric thought she was fantastic, but as he finally broke their gaze to look down at himself a little self consciously, he wondered what it was about her that drove him so crazy, in the best way possible. She was one of those people you couldn’t help but notice when you walked into a room, because she demanded your attention without realizing it, without even trying. “ Thank you. “ He whispered softly to her, a slightly crooked smile working its way onto the Slytherins face.
Had he been told four months ago that he would be sitting on a blanket in the middle of the Forbidden Forest having a picnic with her today, he would have found the idea crazy. He would have several reasons to be disbelieving, one being what would Matty Wentworth want to do with him? At the time, he thought nothing. Two being, the forbidden forest, who had a picnic in the forbidden forest? And three being why a picnic. They were sappy, and not at all him. And yet, four months later, he wasn’t at all now surprised about any of this. At first it had taken some getting used to, to be able to call Matty his girlfriend, and to even begin to trust her. Slowly but surely, he was. It was through little things like their joking around, that made him appreciate her more and more. He lifted his eyes, looking to the tent again. It could mean a lot of things, like spending the night with Matty. Nothing would happen between them as neither of them were anywhere near being ready for such a big step, but the idea of just sleeping close to her was appealing to him. “ What if… “ He paused, not completely confident in what he was preparing himself to say.
“ What if… I wasn’t a rambling drinker? What if… we just spent the night out here? “ He had no idea what he was doing, asking such a thing of her, but now, the idea didn’t sound too far fetched to him.

The teenager wasn't sure what made her rethink this thought, but it defiantly flooded into her mind for a good while. She had thought about it so many times before, but yet again, Matty was really grateful that herself and Emeric had met in London that one day. Even if they did almost bite each other's heads off, really, it was all worth it, once you traced it back to this very second. The youth knew that it must have happened for a reason, for, as an example of a spin of fate; another girl could have taken the place of Matty. A different girl could have bumped into Em that day and exchanged words with him. Another girl could have lead him through Muggle London, back to the leaky Cauldron. Someone different could have sat with him through classes, or met him at the Shrieking Shack that day by chance. And, really, it all came down to the fact that a different person could be standing beside the boy right now, her eyes connected with his, with a smile on her face as she thought about the same thing Matty was. She almost shuddered at this thought. Life without Em these days... well, it almost seamed unbearable. Unreasonable.
As he thanked her, the Hufflepuff felt a little surprised when she realized she was blushing a little. While his hand was still in hers, the youth gave it a squeeze in appreciation, as well as a thanks in return. The look on her face, and the smile on her face showed her gratefulness, more than words could ever cover. From his height, right down to his smirks, from his snide remarks, to his compliments, everything about Emeric Troy was valued to Matty Wentworth. She just thought he was amazing to her, just the way he was. She couldn't imagine him as a sweeter, or more charming or a funnier guy. Anything more may have been fake to her, knowing what he was really like.
"What if... I wasn’t a rambling drinker? What if...we just spent the night out here?"
Matty looked across to him, her eyes surveying his for a moment. Now that ti was well and truly out in the open, the idea sounded allot better than she had judged it to be a few moments ago. Emeric wasn't the kind of guy who would take advantage of a situation like this, and nor did Matty feel pressured to do or not to anything. The thought of simply being able to sleep near Em for a night actually sounded really nice. Nodding slowly, the Hufflepuff glanced from the tent back to the boy. "I don't see any objection... But as long as thats what you really want." she said softly, letting her free hand touch Em's free hand slightly. Sure, it wasn't really a massive step, but probably bigger than either of them had expected to consider tonight.

Emeric looked nervously back to the tent, and then back to Matty, wondering silently to himself. What if I mess up? He wasn't even sure what there was to mess up, but as he gave it a second or two of thought, he knew what he was talking about. Matty, and his relationship with her in general. He was desperate to not mess up, to not say the wrong thing, and to not move too fast. That was one thing he felt he could rest a little easier about, when it came to their relationship in general and the physical parts of it, Emeric knew they were both going at the same pace, not too fast and at a rate that they both felt comfortable with. What if staying the night with her in the tent jeopardized what they had? He was ecstatic at the idea of being able to hold her for such a long time, but there were worries that came along with that as well.
He looked up to Matty, an unsure smile holding on his face. He caught her gaze, though, and half of his worries melted away. Only half, though. He still wanted to know that this wouldn't end up being something that either of them would regret. Sure, they were just going to go to sleep, nothing more than that of course, but it was still more than he had anticipated from their meeting up that evening. ' I don't see any objection. ' She.. didn't? Em knew he hadn't been too anxious about her saying no outright and being offended at the idea, but he was a little surprised that she said yes so soon.
" Are you sure it's what you want? " Emeric asked, as he had nodded his head at her question but wanted to know what she thought about it. He moved his hand to overlap with hers, lacing his fingers in between her smaller ones. " I don't want you to feel pressured into anything, ever. "

"Are you sure it's what you want?"
Matty allowed herself a few more second before replying. Was this really what she wanted? It wouldn't be the first time she had spent the night with a boy, but it was in a totally different concept to the previous times she had. At a young age, the girl's best friend had been a boy, and so of course, she had harmlessly slept over his house many times as a child. Of course, they had slept in different beds, usually in the same room. She had shared a room with Jamie at one stage, but that was because he was her brother, and there was nothing suspicious about that. Matty could even remember staying at Jynx's House over Christmas one year, though the two had slept in different rooms altogether. The girl knew that nothing was going to happen in that tent that would go further than the things that Emeric and Matty did so commonly. She felt a little jittery about it, actually. Spending the night sleeping next to the boy... well, as long as it was innocent, the girl didn't have a problem with it.
So, she nodded her head in reply, too. Feeling her boyfriend's hand entwine with her own, the girl gave him another reassuring smile. She knew that something like this was going to happen, well, some time or another with someone, and she was glad that this was happening with Em. She had no doubt in her mind that he wouldn't push or force her into anything that she wasn't ready to do. And as for Matty, well, she just wasn't really that kinda of person, either. The girl's eyes cause, and kept his gaze, after he confirmed the thoughts that had just been in her head. "I trust you, Em. I really do." she said, giving his hand a small squeeze.

As the Hufflepuff girl paused for several seconds, Em lifted his cup of butterbeer to his lips, taking a few light sips before setting it back down and returning his gaze to Matty. His stomach felt like it was flipping around, but then again that was generally how it felt when he was around Matty, only this time it seemed to be a bit more extreme. He decided it was probably either because of their choice of conversation, or the fact that he would be able to spend more time with her than he had expected to. But then again... it could have just been the fact that it was her.
The fourth year gently squeezed her hand with his own as she nodded, a grin slowly spreading across his face. Not only did she want to spend the night with him, she trusted him not to do anything as well. Hearing that she trusted him brought a small blush to Emeric's cheeks, as he already knew that the girl trusted him, but really it was always good to hear it again.
" So.. so it's settled then? " His voice sounded a little bit more shocked than he had expected it to, so he just smiled in a sheepish manner. He let a a minute or so of relative silence wash over them before he asked, " So... why the forbidden forest? " He had, for the most part, forgotten about his previous worries about the location of their little gathering, but the thoughts returned as he turned his head just slightly, hearing sounds of birds in the trees fluttering about.

As she felt Emeric give her hand a small squeeze in return, Matty only felt more convinced that she could trust him as much as she did. And it was true. She did trust him, probably more than the boy realized too. He had proved to the girl that he could change for the better, and that he could keep his word. Not only that, but the way that he had changed, and shown to her a side that Matty suspected not many others had seen, well, it was an even greater reason to allow herself to put as much trust in the boy as she had. The way that Emeric had taken her hand, and kept her close when they made the short transfer from the forest to the clearing, made her feel safe, secure, which was another reason that showed that he cared; and that she could trust him.
His question, and slightly sheepish smile made the girl crack a grin at him. "Sounds like a plan." she confirmed with another small nod, and a light laugh in her voice. Now that they had gotten past the seriousness of the idea, Matty felt comfortable, and rather excited about the idea. She now found another reason why it was a good idea that no one else knew about their relationship. For if the knowledge of the two dating was common, then this night may have been found out easier, and who knows what kinds of rumors that may have spread about the too. She hated it admit it, but the possibility would have been up in the air, due to obvious reasons about teenagers and such.
As Em then asked her about why she had chosen the forest for their night out, it didn't take much of a while for Matty to answer. "It was the safest place, despite the fact that it's probably one of the most dangerous. I mean in the way that... well, I doubt anyone is going to come wandering about to this exact spot and stumble upon us. If I meant safe as if no harmful creatures or anything, well, then you'd have a problem on her hands." Sure, she was taking a bit of a jab at her own self pride, but the girl didn't really mind. It was Em, and he knew that she didn't much throwing around a comment like that about herself, for deep down, she did value herself. "Besides, I had no where else to pitch the tent." Matty stated, a grin still spread across her face.

Trust was a fickle thing, give too much and you won't get any in return, give too little and you shouldn't expect any in return. But when it came to the matter of his relationship with Matty, he had a feeling that they both trusted one another a certain amount, and it was good enough for both involved parties. Emeric trusted Matty by letting her in, allowing her to see a part of him no one really had before. And she trusted him by doing the same, and loving him the way he was. Love is a strong word, and it could mean many things. Em was just glad that whatever it meant, he had it with Matty.
He grinned just slightly as she confirmed that it was indeed a plan... " I don't think I've ever been more ready to go to bed in my life. " He was kidding, of course, in the way that he didn't mean anything perverted like that, but he was serious in the sense that it was true. He didn't want to cut their time short for doing things, so he was for the most part just joking around with her, as always. He took another light drink from his butterbeer, setting the cup down behind him on the ground so he didn't accidentally tip it over and spill the contents onto the blanket.
He quirked his head, looking out to the trees just beyond the clearing as she spoke of the reasons for choosing the forest. Giving a now, a grin on his face by now. " Problem or not, I think it was a great idea. At first I wasn't sure, I've heard rumors 'bout this place and all. " He chuckled slightly at her small joke about the tent. " Good point. " He turned to look at Matty, and upon getting an idea, he leaned close to her ear, whispering, " Will you dance with me? "

Her boyfriend's comment wasn't taken seriously, as much as it did have a serious meaning behind it. Matty could have seen it in the creepy way, but she knew Em better than that to stick that kind of label to what he had said. She too felt more excited to be hitting the hay tonight, than she normally would have been, not that the boy had given her that idea. Generally, the teenager would retire in a rather quick sequence of events, them being: showing, changing, saying goodnight to those who were still up, clambering into bed, and either read for a bit, listen to her ipod, or drop straight off into sleep. It wasn't too often that the girl looked forward to heading off to bed, but tonight... well, there was an obvious reason why she was looking forward to it.
Have long ago set aside her food, Matty picked up her cup, and lifted it to her lips. The liquid inside was fairly cool, and rather moist on her lips. As she settled the cup back down on the ground, the girl returned her gaze to Emeric. His comment about her choice of the forest being that of a good one made the teenager incline her head in thanks to him. "I took the rumors into consideration, but it's been a while since any new ones had circled around, so I thought the risk was worth it." she said with a light little shrug and a small smile. When the boy leaned in closer to her ear, Matts wasn't quite sure what his intentions were, until he spoke.
"Will you dance with me?" Her eyes skimmed over the tree's, which were glittering with the strings of lights that hung around their branches. The youth leaned back slightly, keeping her head still close to Em's, a warm smile on her face. "That depends," she said softly, pausing for a moment before continuing. "If you can dance or not." The girl raised her eye brows at him, suspecting that he was probably capable of dancing if he had suggested it in the first place, but she liked to toy with him like that. Matty stood up, her hand still entwined with Emeric's so that he came up with her. Probably the only slight problem was that there wasn't any music... but then again, was it totally necessary?

Emeric guessed that there were some students, possibly older ones, who would laugh at the idea of just sleeping close to your significant other without actually doing anything. They would probably say something to the effect of it being impossible to keep things innocent. Em was sure that those people would be wrong. He trusted himself not to try anything, because things like that weren’t really on his mind. Physical things came and went, but what was really important to him was just being close to Matty. He didn’t particularly care if they spent the night playing board games, just the fact that he would be able to spend so much time with her uninterrupted was enough to make him glad that she agreed to the tent idea.
He shrugged his shoulders slightly, and upon not spotting any immediate danger around the clearing he let himself become less tense, as he had been so sure someone or something was going to sneak up and try and attack them. She was right though, not much had happened recently that would indicate the forest as being completely off limits. Sure, it was against the rules to be out in the forest at all, but rules were made to be broken.
He could feel the Hufflepuff’s breath light on his cheek as she replied to his question, and he gave her a somewhat curious look, asking for her to go on. Her next comment caused a small grin to take over the boy’s youthful features, not answering until they were both standing. His free hand drifted over to meet hers as he stepped in a little closer to her, not quite for the dance yet, but just to say, “ Would it matter either way? “ He gave a small sheepish smile..
