Accepted. Welcome to Hogwarts.
[ Full Character Name: ] Vivianne (Vinnie) Kay Darling
[ Character Gender: ] Female
[ Country of Citizenship: ] England
[ Physical Character Description: ]
Vinnie has a slender frame, standing at only 5’2” and weighing in at 111. Her body isn’t quite developed yet and she’s rather frail and weak. She spends a lot of time looking up at people because of her height or rather... she spends a lot of time being looked down upon. She definitely wishes she was even just a couple inches taller, but she’s gotten use to the fact she’s short and doesn’t plan to get much taller than this.
She peers through big glassy blue eyes which she inherited from her mother. Her hair is naturally dark auburn and wavy. Her bangs are swept to the left and fall just above her eyes. Although it’s not very collected and neat most of the time, Vinnie doesn’t like to do much with it. Usually she just keeps it down. If she ever puts it up, it’s in a messy little bun. Her hair is usually kept long and she’s only had it short at one point, after her hair started growing back in again. Now it is usually kept a good length past her shoulders. And sadly, her skin is a very pale color. It easily burns and never tans which is why she attempt to stay out of the sun as much as possible. Underneath her right eye she has a small mole.
Vinnie’s got a thing for vintage clothing. There’s just something about it that she loves. Her style is obviously influenced by that. Occasionally she’ll wear a cute little day dress, but most of the time she’s got on a baby doll tee and a cute little vest or sweater. Long necklaces with big pendants and chunky bracelets are what usually catch her eye. She’s usually got two or three bracelets on along with a matching necklace.
[ Personality Character Description: ]
Vinnie is just a little oddball. It’s not the ‘the aliens are coming for me’ type of odd, but more of the funny, ‘what is she doing?’ odd. She is usually found doing some pretty unusual things, such as talking to her orange tabby, Cambers, and making bubbles in her chocolate milk. The girl is convinced that her cat can understand every word she says to him. Yes, she knows that these actions are a bit strange and childish, but they are fun, and that’s all that really matters to her. Of course she cares about what others think, but she doesn’t care very much. She’s more concerned about how she treats people than if those people think she’s weird. People have gossiped about her, and she’s heard all the rumors. People have come up to her and straight out told her, and she simply shooed them away. After awhile, it does get to her, but she tries to refrain from letting anyone change her. She is brave enough to just be herself.
Ever since she was a young girl, the girl has never been found quiet. She has been yelling and screaming since the day she was born. Vinnie has a loud personality. She’s is quite outgoing and friendly, so making friends has never been a problem for her. Sometimes, she can come on a little too strong when she’s around new people. She can be a bit startling sometimes, but she doesn’t really realize it. Vinnie can be quite oblivious at times. She can also get rather annoying for she is incapable of keeping her mouth shut for too long. It doesn’t really matter who she’s talking to, as long as she’s talking. Yes, she’s quite the talkative one.
Honestly, it’s almost impossible for this girl to take anything seriously. She lets most things just roll off her back and it doesn’t take long for her to move onto the next subject. Vinnie’s definitely an optimist. She believes that every cloud has a silver lining. She can’t stand it when there is a gloomy vibe in the room, and immediately makes it her job to make the vibe a happier one. She tends to give off a good vibe to everyone around her. One of her favorite things to see is people smiling. It is one of the most heartwarming things for her. She just loves helping out people and making people feel good.
The girl is very stubborn and hardheaded. She doesn’t keep a very open mind. Once she sets her mind to something, there’s no stopping her. Vinnie isn’t very open to suggestions and get’s quite frustrated when someone tries to prove her wrong. And when she does realize she is wrong, she still tries to defend her case until it gets old. This tends to get her on a lot of people’s ‘bad side’. Sometimes, when it gets to a certain point, she will even snap at a teacher, which usually gets her into detention.
Vinnie’s biggest passion is photography. Ever since she was a child, she’s been fascinated by the camera. Her biggest influence is probably her father, who is a photojournalist. She likes to take a lot of scenery photos, and if often found out on the grounds in the morning, trying to capture the sunset. She also likes to take pictures of people, whether it is a large group and just one person. Photography is a very serious matter for her. It’s probably one of the only things that she actually takes seriously. Photography is definitely an art to her and she’s good at it. She doesn’t like to take the same old pictures over and over again. Instead, Vinnie likes to try new things with her camera, like angles and lightings.
[ History: ]
Vivianne Kay Darling was born on February 23rd in Amberley, England to Xavier and Hanna Darling. Her father was a photojournalist and worked for the local paper while her mother was a nurse at the hospital. They decided to nickname her Vinnie after her grandmother, who had given them the money to start their life. Both parents were muggles and just expected a normal baby girl. Of course, that wasn’t the case. At the age of five Vinnie started showing signs of magical powers. Scared and not sure what to do, they called up all of their relatives, asking for help. After explaining the signs... a handful of their relatives decided to stop talking to them. Eventually, they contacted Xavier’s cousin, Jessica Kingston, who happened to be a wizard. She explained everything to them. She told them all about their daughter’s magical powers, and the whole other they never knew existed. It took awhile for their parents to get use to the idea that their daughter was a wizard, but eventually learned to live with it. Jessica began to visit regularly to help Vinnie’s parents deal with her and raise her right, so she could become a good wizard. Being a pure blood and working in the Ministry of Magic, she knew a lot about the wizard world. Xavier and Hanna were very grateful to find her.
The Darlings lived in a small suburbia with plenty of children Vinnie’s age. Vinnie became very social and tried to reach out to all the kids in her neighborhood. She soon started spending a lot of time with them, but once her parents learned more about her powers, they tried to keep her away from them as much as possible. They decided to home school her and everything. But of course, they weren’t going to completely hide their daughter from the outside world. They took her out with them occasionally and they let her play with the other children in the neighborhood, but most of the time, she was cooped up in the house, staring out the window. Yes, she was often sad that she couldn’t play with other kids as much as she wanted to, but she tried to make the best of it. There was no use in wasting her time moping around.
Vinnie was completely mesmerized by the idea of being a photojournalist. Her father told her all about his job and when he could he’d even take her to work. This inspired the girl, even at the young age. She often played around her father’s camera and flipped through the local newspaper, looking for articles of her father’s and admiring other photographer’s work. She got her very first camera when she was seven. Of course, it was toy one, but Vinnie was completely thrilled either way. As she grew older she became more and more interested in photography until it was one of her biggest interests.
At the age of ten Vinnie was diagnosed with bone cancer. Everyone was completely devastated and the family did all they could, in hope to cure her. At the young age, the girl had to go through the chemotherapy, the awful trips to the hospital, and the loss of all her hair. It was a lot to take in for the little girl. She always saw her parents and friends crying, and Vinnie would always try to assure them that it would be okay, although deep down, she even doubted that. Eventually, it all became a normal thing to her. It soon became routine to visit the hospital very often and she barely noticed that her hair was gone. She was unable to attend any wizarding schools, due to her cancer and her need for special treatment, so she had to completely miss her first year. But after plenty of treatment, Vinnie eventually was able to live a normal life again. Her hair slowly began to grow back and over the summer it became a good length. The doctors said that she was cured of the cancer, but Vinnie never really believed them. Knowing that she could drop dead any second, she decided to live her life to the fullest while she could.
Then came the problem of wizarding school. Vinnie had missed her first year, but her parents didn’t want her behind. She began to attend Beauxton at the beginning of her suppose-to-be second year. Jessica had helped them arrange for her to be registered as a second year at the school. She’d learn all the same things, and then during her free time, was tutored by different professors in an attempt to catch her up. Thankfully, Vinnie was a quick enough learner to do so. It took a lot of hard work and a lot of studying, but she eventually caught up and by her third year she was completely caught up with the rest of her class.
The summer after Vinnie’s fourth year, Jessica suggested to the family that she should attend Hogwarts, which she attended. Being a graduate from there, she wanted Vinnie to get the best education she could and she was quite biased towards Hogwarts. Vinnie’s parents trusted her entirely, since they obviously knew much more about this than they did. Jessica had a couple friends pull a few strings and Vinnie was admitted into Hogwarts by her fifth year.
[ Pros and Cons: ]

- Being so loud and talkative can definitely get on other’s nerves. Vinnie’s one of those people who just can’t seem to shut her mouth for even a minute. She can’t be quiet and gets often snapped at by the people who just want a little peace and quiet around her.
+ Vinnie is good friend. She’s very sympathetic towards others and is always willing to be the shoulder to cry on. She listens to people’s problems and tries to help them out. She hates seeing people sad, so is always trying to cheer them up and make them smile, even if it’s only for a little while.
- She’s very stubborn and hardheaded. It’s very hard to get her to change her mind. When someone tries, she snaps at them and tries to prove they’re wrong. This definitely isn’t a quality that people like about her and it’s usually the reason why people don’t end up liking her.
+ Vinnie’s an optimist and is always looking on the bright side of things. This isn’t only a good thing for her, but for the others around her as well. Anyone can come to her, looking for someone to escape to.
She’s usually the person who is trying to cheer up the crowd during a gloomy day and tries to show everybody the silver lining.
- It’s hard for her to take anything seriously. She’s just a goofy, fun-loving person that is always joking around and trying to have a little fun. In classes it’s hard for her to concentrate and she laughs off almost everything. It really takes a bit of effort to take her to calm down and actually get her to be serious about things.

She pulled the camera away from her face and bit her lip, watching the ladybug for a moment before it flew away. She sighed and tucked a loose hair behind her ear. She laid the camera carefully on the grass next to her and leaned backwards until she was lying on her back, staring up at the sky. She watched the clouds slowly roll by with her big blue eyes. They seemed like at some place, at some high peak, you’d actually be able to touch the clouds. But Vinnie knew that it was impossible. She reached up and continuously closed and opened her hand, as if she was trying to grab something. All she was grabbing was air. It was definitely impossible.
She rolled over until she was on her stomach and grabbed her camera again. Now she was facing the castle. She tilted her head a bit and examined the castle closely because picking up her camera. She put the camera up to her eye and adjusted the lens until she had the perfect shot of the castle.
