[ Full Character Name: ] Matilda Bennett
[ Character Gender: ] Female
[ Country of Citizenship: ] Britain
[ Physical Character Description: ] Matilda has vibrant red or auburn hair, in some lights it looks a lot brighter. It's just past her shoulders in length and is her best feature in her opinion. It can be a little wavy but Matilda prefers it straight. She is fair skinned and has a small rounded nose, her eyes are large and wide without looking out of place on her face. She has a light dusting of freckles across her nose and cheeks and more prominent freckles on her arms. Her fringe often falls slightly over her eyes hiding her eyebrows and the top of her eyelids. Her ears are small and flat, often covered by her hair even when she pulls her hair up. She is a little short for her age and slim but is developing curves as she grows into her body. She tends not to gesture much when she talks, her gestures are small and almost non existent but her face often animates a lot of what she is thinking and feeling as she speaks.
Her style is quite casual, she likes to were t-shirts, usually muggle band t shirts. She is also a big fan of skinny jeans and wears those a lot. The same goes for scarves and vest tops. She likes colour but only wears single items to add a splash of colour, she can be daring with it though, wearing red or bright blue skinny jeans or brightly coloured and tees or vests. She likes to accessorize quite a lot and can often be heard jangling around due to the amount of bangles she is wearing.
[ Personality Character Description: ]
Matilda is very vocal and chatty but is not intimidating with it. She will talk to anyone and this makes her very approachable. She is good at showing how confident she is without being overly so. However she does have insecurities and these are all regarding her looks, she doesn't feel she is in any way beautiful except for her hair and so makes up for it with her personality. She doesn't take compliments from people well and doesn't believe people when they comment positively on her looks. Despite this she believes in herself and her ability to achieve and be successful in almost every other aspect of her life. She firmly believes that if she is successful at school then she will be able to become anything she wishes. She is equally as respectful and passionate about her Muggle heritage and her Wizarding heritage. Her Father's influence is what has encouraged this respect and passion. She is very willing to help anybody out when needed, she will put a friends or family members needs before her own. This doesn't mean she is completely selfless but when she is selfish it is unintentional.
Matilda has seen some tragedy in her life and at a young age. She found it hard to bond with her Father and brothers and she sees now that she was rather lonely in her early childhood. If she was ever upset or angry she kept quite and didn't say anything. She would lock herself away or sulk and her Father and brothers never quite knew how to handle it. She tries to avoid confrontation and on the most par succeeds. She grew up much the same and isn't very vocal when she is angry or upset, this often means she gets overlooked when maybe she needs some support or that people sometimes don't realise they offended her.
She adapts very well to different situations as her family moved around a bit when she was younger due to her Father taking jobs when he could get them. This meant though that early on she didn't make any friends, only when she went to Hogwarts did that happen. She never complained though, even when she became attached to a place they moved to. She tries very hard to please everyone and sometimes this inadvertently hurts those involved. However her heart is in the right place and she strongly believes in her friends and family and is immensely proud of their abilities. She is funny but not obviously so, she doesn't have what people would consider a normal sense of humour. She loves to laugh and is often heard in fits of giggles, people know something is not quite OK with Matilda when she hasn't been laughing. She is brave but not fearless, she feels the need to be brave for other people but sometimes her fears overwhelm her. Her biggest fear is failing herself and her family whether that's at school or generally in the future, she doesn't want to let anybody down.
She's sees herself one day having a family and her ultimate career goal is to become a healer. She wants to try and prevent tragedies like her Mothers and believes one day she could do this. She is very motivated and even at her age she is independent and driven, she knows her goals and knows how to achieve them. She is not completely consumed by them though and does know that circumstances change, she is willing to change her goals if her wants shift.
[ History: ]
Mother: Sally Bennett
Father: Daniel Bennett
Siblings: Rupert and Finn, twins age 19
Matilda was born in late winter and was met with immediate tragedy. Her muggle Mother died just hours after she was born and left Matilda, her two older brothers and her Father. The first years of her life were understandably difficult and her Father struggled to bring up the three children. He took jobs where he could and this often meant the family moved around a lot. He found it easier when Matilda's brothers Rupert and Finn went to Hogwarts. Daniel, her father, concentrated on home schooling Matilda and found himself finally bonding with her. When her brothers returned from Hogwarts for the holidays they found themselves bonding better with her as well, particularly Finn who in his naivity as a child blamed her for their Mother's death. They found themselves become very protective of their little sister and when the time came for Matilda to attend Hogwarts they were ready to take her under their wing. Just before she started Hogwarts Daniel found a permanent job and they settled in a family home near London.
Matlda found that when she started at Hogwarts it was a little suffocating. She was very grateful for her brothers looking after her, she met some good friends and everybody seemed to know who she was. This was a blessing and a curse for Matilda, she had a lot of friends but she didn't like to be the center of attention. When she went home for the holidays she asked her father to talk to Finn and Rupert about there overbearing nature at school and they reluctantly agreed to give her a bit of space. Now Matilda was hoping to spread her wings and gain her independence while keeping her brothers by her side.
[ Pros and Cons: ]
Pros: She is loyal to both family and friends and considers herself a true friend to them all, she gets on with people very well and when a friendship is established she does all she can to support and maintain the relationship. She's approachable and always smiling, she makes people feel comfortable around her. She studies well and can be very intelligent, she does struggle with some subjects but her effort is undeniable. She's very outgoing and is always willing to try new things and pursue new activities whether that be a new position in quidditch or a new book. She is ambitious and has clear goals, some of them change on a monthly basis and some of them are more substantial but she always knows what she wants and what she needs to achieve and is always confident she has a good chance of achieving it.
Cons: She embarrasses easily when it comes to her looks and doesn't like people concentrating on them. She also tries to make sure she looks the best she can and that can sometimes come across as being quite vain. She can sometimes be too trusting with her friends and people she's close to, she doesn't like to see the bad in people and that can sometimes result in people taking advantage of her. She has a very romanticised view of love and relationships due to her parents fairytale romance before her Mother died, she has a hard time dealing with the reality of them. She always tries to be prepared and organised, particularly when it comes to school but she often fails at it.
[ Role Playing Example: ]
Rorey walked the length of the path, her pace quickening as the snow fell harder. Looking up at the sky she followed snowflakes with her eyes as they fell upon her. She giggled at herself and how childish she was being, next she'd be opening her mouth and trying to catch them on her tongue! She could see the North Gate in the distance and decided to head for it. She would hang out there until she felt OK to come back, she needed the fresh air and nothing was more fresh than the air when it had been snowing.
Her feet felt heavy as they pushed their way through the snow, it was settling pretty fast now and was quite deep. She waded through and didn't look up until she was much closer to the gate. When she did she noticed a figure leaning against it. She didn't recognise her but that wasn't unusual for Rorey, she'd been living like a hermit lately, concentrating on her studies way too much, avoiding thinking about anything else, especially the letter she recently received from her Father. As she approached the figure she noticed it was a girl who looked a little younger than her, possibly a freshman which was another reason she probably didn't recognise her.
Rorey smiled at the girl as she got close to the gate, unsure of whether she was noticed or not. She stepped into place beside the girl at the gate but not too close so the girl felt imposed upon, she decided however that it was only polite to at least say hello and introduce herself, especially seeing as the girl was probably wondering who on earth she was too.
"Hi, I'm Rorey, you don't mind if I wait here until the weather calms down a bit do you?"
