[ Physical Character Description: ] Carlisle is not a very tall man, standing at only at 5’ 10”. He is a medium build, and walks with a certain grace most people do not have. His mother was a Veela and he takes after her a lot, physically. Carlisle has silvery blond hair, cut short and is always slicked back. He has kind, silvery eyes and soft features. He is a clean shaven man, preferring that to the rugged, scruffy look his Italian father used to have. While Carlisle’s mother did pass on many of the Veela features to her son, he also inherited quite a few from his father. Carlisle inherited a long, fairly pointed nose from his father, as well as his crooked grin. Carlisle’s soft features give him the appearance of a nice guy. If there was ever a time to judge a book by it’s cover, it would be with Carlisle.
When it comes to appearance, Carlisle is very picky about what he wears. In the Muggle world, Carlisle prefers the name brand clothing. He likes to be casual, but he likes to look good as well. He’s a cardigan kind of guy and dresses in a very English style. He’s also a big fan of scarves and almost always has one that matches his outfit. In all honesty, he can be a little conceited about his appearance, but that’s just because he wants to look good. In the wizarding world, Carlisle’s usual attire was that of the lime green robes worn by St. Mungo’s staff. Wizarding robes really are not Carlisle’s favourite things to wear and opts for Muggle doctor scrubs instead.
One thing that Carlisle always, always has on in his ring. The ring was given to him by his father and displays the Zanetti family crest. It was given to him on his 16th birthday by his father, who received it from his father. It is one thing Carlisle holds dear and it reminds him of home.
[ Personality Character Description: ] Carlisle is a particularly complex man. He’s dreamy, caring and a little dangerous but not in the way that people should be afraid of him. He doesn’t like secrets either and doesn’t have any of his own. He is very open and friendly and doesn’t believe in superiority. He’s an all around nice guy who likes to help people. He’s always loved helping people, which was why he began Healer training when he finished school. Carlisle also loves to work with kids and help them, which led him to the position at Hogwarts. Carlisle is a good guy when it comes to helping people, but there are aspects of his personality that he’s not all that fond of.
Carlisle can sometimes be a little conceited. He cares about his appearance and is one of those guys that would actually spend at least 45 minutes getting ready to go out somewhere. He falls into the stereotypical behaviour of a Veela, which he inherited from his mother. He can sometimes be a little obsessed with his appearance, but it’s not something Carlisle is proud of. He likes to look good, but he doesn’t like how into it he gets.
Another thing Carlisle isn’t particularly proud of is his extremely short temper. He doesn’t get angry with other people quickly, he gets angry with himself. If he screws up and knows it’s his fault, Carlisle can get into a mood and even acts a little childish. As most people do, he hates to fail but doesn’t deal with it very well. He also doesn’t let go of things too easily and has been known to hold grudges for exceptionally long periods of time. It’s not that Carlisle cannot forgive, because he is actually a very forgiving person but he simply does not forget. If you cross Carlisle, he can forgive you but never forgets what you’ve done to him. Carlisle doesn’t enjoy being mad, but it’s in his nature to hold a grudge.
One of the Veela traits Carlisle enjoys (most of the time) however is his naturally flirty behaviour. It has, on occasion, gotten Carlisle into some trouble especially in his teenage years but he’s gotten better at controlling it. A little bit. He still enjoys chatting up a pretty woman, but he’s not exactly a player. Carlisle has a kind of shyness about him and kindness that you can see in his facial features. But his shy nature is mixed in with an air of arrogance. Carlisle’s got a smooth voice that can be rather intoxicating but it’s not something he always enjoys.
It’s difficult to explain a man like Carlisle when he changed his mood so often, but one thing that always remains is his kindness. He can be arrogant and conceited, but he’d stop anything to help someone out. He is very giving as well and loves to dote upon those he cares for. Some people see it as an excuse for Carlisle to show off how much money he has, but that’s never the case. He likes to share the wealth and donates plenty to his favourite charities and his previous place of work: St. Mungo’s.
[ History: ] Carlisle Francesco Zanetti was born in Pozzuoli, Italy, a small town just outside Napoli. His father, Francesco Zanetti was the owner of one of Italy’s biggest wine companies, as well as a successful entrepreneur. His mother, Sophia Carlisle the second, came from a very wealthy wizarding family in England. Naturally, when Carlisle was born (and given his mother’s surname as a first name as per request of her father) he was showered with love, attention and money. From the day he was born, a separate bank account in Carlisle’s name was created and grandparents on both sides contributed to their only grandson’s fund. As an infant and through his childhood, Carlisle thought very little of the value of money. He was more interested in the attention he got from strangers when they passed him in the streets or the attention from his own family. As the only child, Carlisle was spoiled, never denied a thing and received all the attention he could ever want or need. However, as he grew older, the novelty began to wear off and pre-teen Carlisle longed for a more normal life.
Coming from a background of very proud Italians and very self-centered Veelas, Carlisle was raised to be proud and self-centered. He was taught that self-image and societal standing were the most important things. If a good reputation was lost, all was lost. Carlisle never exactly followed these rules in his own mind, but acted how he was required to around his family. Carlisle’s grandfather on his mother’s side of the family requested he attended the proudest of magical institutions called Durmstrang, but his wife overruled and demanded her grandson attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Sophia Carlisle the first was a strong-minded Veela who was never denied. Young Carlisle was granted acceptance when his grandmother pulled a few strings. The Italian-born wizard was shipped to Scotland where he attended school for his full seven years in the house of Helga Hufflepuff.
In his time at Hogwarts, Carlisle became quite the attraction. He was a beautiful half-Veela child who grew into and even more beautiful half-Veela teenager and had the girls swooning; the “Hufflepuff Heart-throb” as one of his girlfriends so affectionately referred to him. Carlisle revelled in the attention for a while until it became an annoyance. The novelty never wore off for others, but it certainly began to disintegrate for Carlisle. He grew tired of being one of the beautiful rich kids and decided that instead of the selfishness he had grown up with, he would find a way to help people with the money he had. When Carlisle left school, he immediately pursued Healer training which he completed and became a fully fledged Healer.
For many years, Carlisle worked as a Healer in St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries on the fourth floor where he specialized in spell damage. During his time there, Carlisle saw many-a tragic accident, mainly involving children who had been practicing spells and hexes on each other. His family was never too thrilled with the idea that Carlisle worked such a lowly job (in their opinion) but it was what Carlisle lived for. He loved to help people and St. Mungo’s allowed him to do so. However, after about 7 years with the hospital, Carlisle wanted to pursue not only magical healing, but the ways in which Muggles healed themselves. Carlisle had always been fascinated with Muggles and the way they worked and he completed First Aid courses with Muggles to learn about their healing practices. When Carlisle returned to the magical side of healing, he decided to open his own private practice. His grandmother had grown ill and while she had enough money to have the best Healers in the world take care of her, it made Carlisle think of all the families that weren’t as fortunate as his own. He began a free magical clinic, the Sophia Carlisle Memorial Clinic as it was named after the passing of his ill grandmother. Carlisle had decided that his clinic would be open to both Muggles and wizards and was advertised as such in the wizarding world, while the Muggle world remained unaware. He hired Muggle doctors as well as Healers and had enough knowledge of Muggle medicine to cure the minor ailments most Muggles came in with. When it turned into a more serious problem, Carlisle was able to call in the Muggle doctors to take over. While Carlisle loved his clinic, a job opportunity came up that he simply couldn’t refuse; an open nursing spot at his old school. Leaving the clinic in the care of his partner in Healing, Carlisle applied for the job at Hogwarts.
[ Pros and Cons: ] Carlisle’s complex personality has been both an asset and a deficit throughout his life. With a natural, mysterious, Veela aura about him, Carlisle has always been the center of attention when he enters a room. His blond hair and natural beauty have caused him to be subject of many childhood crushes, but it’s also caused him to be looked upon as an arrogant, self-righteous person. His ability to turn heads with his graceful walk was something Carlisle once enjoyed, but despite his open nature, the man can also be a little shy. He’s not really a fan of big crowds and has developed a dislike for attention. As a child, Carlisle basked in the attention from his family but has now decided its not all its cracked up to be. The only upside to being such an attention-thief is that when he has an opinion to share, people listen. It’s difficult to ignore a Veela.
Carlisle’s giving nature has been pegged as acts of selflessness but has also been undermined as an excuse to flaunt his fortune. While it is true that he does have a lot of money to his name, including the inheritance from his grandmother and eventually what he’ll get from the rest of his family, he doesn’t believe in donating money just to have a good image. Carlisle donates and dotes upon loved ones because he can and because he wants to. He doesn’t care if it makes him look good, but it irritates him when he’s accused of it. But his kind, giving ways often give off the wrong impression. He buys fancy gifts for his loved ones and the various girlfriends he's had throughout his life, but Carlisle doesn't ever really connect with anyone on a deeper level. He's not exactly shallow, but Carlisle doesn't allow himself to form real attachments with people. Because of the occupation he's chosen for himself, Carlisle needed to learn how to distance himself from his patients, but this has unfortunately crept into his own life. Carlisle doesn't let people get particularly close to him and has never really had a real, meaningful romantic relationship. To be honest, he's afraid of commitment and will not allow himself to get too involved with anyone. He much prefers to play the field.
Who doesn’t like someone who cares about their appearance, right? Carlisle cares about what he looks like. He likes to keep in shape and keep healthy but he can get a little carried away with it. He’s the kind of person who could easily take an hour in the shower and then spend another 45 minutes fighting with his hair in the mirror. Carlisle likes to look good but he can be very conceited about it. He hates it when people point out physical flaws about it and gets very touchy and sensitive about it. His shy nature contributes to his need to look good, but when he knows he looks good, that’s when it gets dangerous. He can be exceptionally vain and arrogant, especially when he gets the classic reaction most people have to Veelas. Carlisle enjoys the attention he gets based solely on his looks when it involves swooning women.

[ Writing/Role Playing Example: ] A light smirked played on Carlisle’s lips as he swept gracefully down the hall from his office to the patient room his next client waiting in. His white coat flapped behind him over his midnight blue scrubs. He nodded to the secretary, flashing her a friendly smile as he passed and he heard a soft sigh. The smirk grew. As he reached the patient room, Carlisle picked up the chart and read over it, not looking up at the patient or who was with her as he spoke.
“And how are we today, Mrs. Hoover? What seems to be the problem?” he asked the woman. She sighed and Carlisle didn’t look up for a moment. He simply grinned and kept reading the chart explaining her previous ailments. These Muggles were entertaining. Carlisle finally looked up at the woman who began to explain what the problem was and the pain she had in her side. He performed a basic exam. He felt the woman flinch under his touch and caught a glimpse of the look she was giving the other girl in the room who appeared to be her daughter.
“Alright well, Mrs. Hoover, I’m going to let Dr. Harris come in and take a look as well, just for a second opinion,” he informed her with a smile. The woman just nodded and Carlisle nodded to the younger girl as he left the room.
“Dr. McDreamy…”
Carlisle stopped in the doorway, almost looked over his shoulder but didn’t. He just smirked as he went to track down the Muggle doctor.
