Accepted. Welcome to Hogwarts.
[ Full Character Name: ] Sharivah Jhansi Mehra
[ Character Gender: ] Female
[ Country of Citizenship: ] United Kingdom
[ Physical Character Description: ] Sharivah is short and thin. She barely tops 4 ft. 8, and her physique is one that garners great envy from any Western woman. Sharivah is Indian by birth. Her skin is bronze, her hair jet black. Her eyes are a stunning blue. She is very pretty in a mysterious almost untouchable fashion. She likes to wear clothes that mask her petite body structure. She likes wearing clothes from India…especially from her hometown of Jhansi. Her favorite garment to strut in is a lavender Tagalog dress...her mother's bridesmaid dress from her "Muggle Wedding". She has a soft voice, like a whisper, and she always has a smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
[ Personality Character Description: ] No one is perfect, but Sharivah tries her hardest to be perfect, and most of the time she succeeds. She never speaks unless it seems to be the perfect thing to say. She never dresses in anything that doesn’t make her look like a model out of a catalogue. She wears her make-up in just the right way so that it looks natural. She gets very upset when something unpredictable happens and she is made to look…normal. She applies her attempt at perfection to her marks in school as well. She is often found on her meal breaks sitting in the Library reading a book for classes. Getting marks below a 95 upset Sharivah very much. She’s been known to throw a grand hissy fit over a paper which received a mark of 94 before. An over-achiever…perhaps…she does show a good number of dark artists qualities. She may not be headed on the path of a Deva but if she were at Hogwarts 10 years ago, she might have been attracted to the empty promises of Lord You-Know-Who.
[ History: ] In 1996, when Sharivah was only 3 years old, her family moved from Jhansi to London. The move was difficult for Sharivah and her twin sister Mekharah. The language and the landscape changed dramatically. The environment scarred Sharivah. She subconsciously refused to pick up the English language at first, but her love of the Muggle’s movies enabled her to begin to pick up bits and pieces of English. She would sit and watch all the British classics on her television, learning to speak like Audrey Hepburn and Judi Dench. These experiences caused her to become a perfectionist.
Her family is small. Her father, Sharikumar Mumbai Mehra, worked for the Ministry of Magic Headquarters in Mumbai, India. Her mother, Shakuntallah Agra Mehra, worked in the Ministry’s Department of Magical Transportation and she worked along with the Indian Ambassador to the Ministry of Magic. An avid Quidditch player, Shakuntallah was a member of the Indian National Quidditch team during the 1988 and 1992 World Cup Tournaments. Many friends joked that Sharikumar would have to strap Shakuntallah to the ground in order to marry her! Aside from Mekharah, her twin, Sharivah has a younger brother, Kumarah. To the great surprise of the entire family, Kumarah is a Squib. He is the tallest in the family as well, and he is closer to Mekharah than to Sharivah. He was born in the United Kingdom and speaks English the best of the family. Sharivah is close to her family, but not very close. She resents her parents for moving her from the sunny Indian climate to the dreary British one.
Sharivah is a self-made witch. She has studied more avidly than anyone (save Hermione Granger of course) in her year. Her wit is right on as well. Aside from her easy temper, she is considered a very valuable friend, willing to help any friends in need of her talents. While she excels in all subjects, Potions is her “cup of tea.” It comes easiest to her.
Third Year: Hogwarts
This has been a very difficult year. From befriending and developing a crush on the first year Gryffindor boy, Chris James Nagle, to the sense of betrayal by her family, which she has grown fonder of than before. Perhaps it is the sense that her brother could be dead, that her twin could be responsible for it and that her entire family now exists in a Middle-Eastern world of oblivion. But of course, it must be because of her Grammy's passing over a year ago, Sharivah feels as though she belongs nowhere. Not even, at the moment, at Hogwarts.
[ Special talents/knacks : ] Sharivah can brew the tail off a cat! She never would, though, as she loves cats and has three of them. She is intense as a student…but she tries to be a good friend as well. She has most talent in brewing potions, but she also has highly developed skill in transfiguration, divination, charms and Defense against Dark Arts.
[Role Playing Example:] “Do you remember anything about India, Mekharah?” Sharivah asked. A book titled The Prestigious Ventures of Fionnula Grembley, and it looked to be more like Webster’s Dictionary than a novel. Her sister snickered.
“No.” Sharivah made a face from behind her book.
“Have you ever wondered what life would be like if we still lived in Jhansi?” Sharivah asked. She often thought about it.
“Why do you always talk about living in India again, Shari? You remember as much of it as I do!” Sharivah sensed the annoyance in her twin’s voice. She loved nagging Mekharah. It was like icing on a chocolate cake for Shari. She didn't know why she liked it so much...but it made her tingle inside. Her heart raced whenever she was able to put Mekharah down. It was as if they were locked in the epic struggle of Jekyll and Hyde, one facing evil, the other good.
“No,” she said loud enough for her sister to hear it. “I remember more.”
