[ Full Character Name: ] Lionel “Leon” Evan Kendall
[ Character Gender: ] Male
[ Country of Citizenship: ] UK
[ Physical Character Description: ] Leon, Leon, Leon… what can be said of his appearance? We’ll start from head and go down to toe. His hair is an unkempt brown, his eyes a grayish-blue. His skin tone is about average, not pale, not tan. His face is usually captive of some kind of a grin, smirk, smile, or otherwise. When he’s wearing Muggle clothes, Leon typically wears whatever’s clean, or at least not filthy. As for specific articles of clothing, t-shirts, jumpers, hoodies, shorts, jeans, cargo pants, all are to be expected of him.
Leon is somewhat short, but that’s to be expected at age 11. He’s a little thin, though, even for his age. This does not mean, however, that he’s brittle or fragile. He is quite athletic, taking to pretty much any physical activity like a duck to water. Although not particularly strong, he’s quite flexible, and full of energy and gusto.
[ Personality Character Description: ] How to describe his personality…? Put into one word, he could be described as hyper. His mind is always jumping from one thing to another, unless something takes hold of his attention. He could stay focused if he chose to, and sometimes does choose to do so. A good portion of the time, though, he appears to suffer from ADD, which sometimes fuels his urge to prank/annoy/mess with people. He doesn’t mean anything by it, and shouldn’t be held responsible for his actions. Even with the hyperness trait, Leon loves to make friends, and had no trouble doing so back home, always remaining a loyal friend to those who be-pal him.
Another word that describes him would be curious. Leon, although he’s a pureblood, doesn’t know every aspect of magical life, nor does he know anything about life away from home. He’s eager to find out new things, whether they’re useful or not, as well as explore new places, whether safe or dangerous. Based on this, he could also be called headstrong, thinking that he can handle anything that comes his way. Therefore, he usually finds himself free from worry.
Contrary to how he usually acts, Leon does have the ability to be serious, should the situation call for it. This seriousness could span from a competitive seriousness to a somber sort of mood, if something bad happens. Leon’s never had anything truly unfortunate happen to him, so it may not go over well when something actually does happen.
And, as a side note, although he can sometimes be cheeky, Leon is the kind of firstie that does not like his cheeks being pinched.
[ History: ] I suppose the story begins on April 5th, 11 years ago, in Wales. A baby boy was born to Vincent Kendall and Claire Kendall, née Devone, on a sunny spring morning. He was soon christened with the name Lionel Evan, drawing from both his mother’s French roots (Lionel) and his father’s English roots (Evan). Before he knew it, Lionel was out of the hospital nursery and with his parents back at their home, located in a town not too far from Cardiff. Even though he lived only with his parents - he had no siblings, nor cousins, and any other relatives lived far away - the community was tight-knit, and he made plenty of friends and acquaintances who were as close as family to him. He was never bored, because there was always someone around to play with him, or mess with, or talk with. Like all kids, Lionel went to the local primary school, and did well, although he sometimes seemed more concerned with playing around than learning. Around the age of 6 or 7, the young boy started going by the name Leon, short for a name which he thought sounded silly.
Occasionally, odd stuff would happen at the school, around which Leon or one of his closer friends always was. Whenever she asked them what had made something happen, or accused them of it outright, the kids would grin cheekily and say they didn’t know, even though they did know. Leon and his close-knit circle of best friends all knew perfectly well that they were wizards and witches, even though the teacher and Muggles of the town didn’t. They never intentionally caused anything, but they always loved it when something happened by accident. For the most part, though, Leon’s life went through a normal pattern, or at least, normal for any hyperactive wizarding child. Yep, life seemed like it would keep going in this way forever, except for the happening that everyone, including the kids, knew was coming.
By the spring of 2007, a good number of children in the town, including Leon, started getting their letters of acceptance into true wizarding school. However, there was a small problem presented, to Leon, at least. While many of the other kids were bound for a private wizard school nearby, his parents wished for him to go to their own school, which they had both graduated from, although in different years: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Doing so would mean separation from many of his old friends for 9-10 months out of the year, but Leon was actually quite eager to go to Hogwarts. It wasn’t like he’d never see his old pals again, and he was excited at the prospect of making new friends in a different part of the UK. His parents were surprised, although pleasantly so, and it was made final that the Kendalls’ son would go to Hogwarts, for better or for worse.
[ Special talents/knacks : ] Leon is possessed of a bountiful optimism, as well as quite a bit of energy and athleticism. This results in him having quite a strong will, although he doesn’t always use it. His skill in magic is yet to be seen, as he’s only used magic accidentally up to this point. However, he’s a quick learner… assuming he actually focuses.
[Role Playing Example:] Picture the scene, if only for a moment. A beautiful weekend’s day, just as the last bits of summer are slipping away. A calm breeze blows across the grounds of Hogwarts, creating little ripples on the surface of the lake as students swim around, or are just relaxing in the shade of the trees and bushes. A typical day near the start of the school year, before the stresses of homework and projects, as well as a drop in temperatures, stifle this sort of scene.
Now, imagine that one of those kids is doing something he shouldn’t. Say… sneaking into the giant collection of trees that they had been explicitly told to not go into? “So, this is the big, bad, ol’ forest, eh?” said the boy, his spiky-haired head turning one way to the other. He wasn’t too far in yet; he could still see the outer rim of the trees, and the shade provided wasn’t too much more than the shade the regular trees gave them.
“Hehe,” Leon laughed to himself. “Maybe I shoulda got someone to come with me. This place looks pretty big.” He commented, still looking around. “Wonder what’s deeper in…” And with that, he started to head further into the forest.
