G was trapped in a world of rain. She had ventured out this Sunday evening fully aware of the gathering clouds but thinking that they would not unleash their wet fury until later in the night. So dawning a heavy cloak she had gone down to the grounds, stopping by the great hall where dinner was taking place to grab a sandwich, and had found a nice place down by the lake to eat. The clouds were low and black, the wind was beginning to kick up, and it was unusually dark. The whole evening was just brimming with mystery and darkness, or it would be if this was any classic novel.
She had barely been out ten minutes before it started to drizzle. Paying it no mind she continued to eat, but soon the rain was pouring. She was closer to Forbidden Forest than to the castle so that is where she ran to. She found refuge from the storm under a large tree along the edge of the forest. The storm was moving in surprisingly fast and the wind was picking up and driving the rain under the tree. She retreaded further back into the forest. She was at least twenty feet in before the trees provided sufficient protection from the storm. It had come on surpassingly fast so she remained in the safety of forest hoping that it would retreat just as suddenly, and quickly.
Since she did not particularly want to get soaked to the bone she decided to wait twenty minutes and if the storm showed no sign of letting up she would head up to the castle. She moved closer to the edge of the forest and found a spot where she could clearly see the castle and sat against a tree. She was glad she had chosen to wear one of her heavier cloaks and drew it closer around her to keep out the chill. The leaves above dripped in the most dismal way and the occasionally blast of wind brought the rain to where she was.
G had only been waiting in the darkness of the forest for maybe five minutes when she began to get a little worried. Perhaps it was how forest seemed to be just drained of light or the fact that it was forbidden, or maybe it was something more sinister but she started feeling like she was being watched. She had her sling and a few pellets in her pocket but only a few and did not see any pebbles around so instead she took out her wand. She had learned a few spells and mastered none but so she pulled out her sling and loaded it as well. Feeling a little better with weapons in her hands she stood against the tree. She considered just heading up the castle now, but decided that she was really just being paranoid.
She had just convinced herself that she was indeed being paranoid and it was just the dark surroundings that were getting to her when somebody spoke behind her. If she had been scolding herself for being stupid before that was nothing to how much she mentally kicked herself when she jumped so much she dropped her sling. Clutching her wand she spun around to see who had spoken.
