Nathan and Brittany had traipsed through the castle and out into the grounds. She had been awfully trusting of him, considering he'd asked her to close her eyes and she's obliged as they stood at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. He wasn't sure if he should be worried about that or not, but he was too excited about showing her what he had hidden. He felt like a little kid sharing his secret hideout with his best friend and in a way, he kind of was. It was a secret spot Nathan had found and liked to frequent when he had the time. It was quiet and away from everything which gave him the space he needed to think. He was taking a chance, sharing this secret with Brittany. But he trusted her.
As they came into the small clearing, Nathan looked around him. The tiny flowers that had popped up out of nowhere were still kicking, despite the cold weather that had rolled in. This section of the woods was unlike the rest of it; it seemed peaceful and beautiful. The small flowers and the way the plants twirled around the bases of the trees gave it a friendly look while the mist rising off the lake gave it a mysterious air. The combination made it perfect, in Nathan's opinion, and it was too good not to share. "Alright, open your eyes," he whispered in her ear, his hands resting on her shoulders.

Brittany had been a little more than weary when Nathan had asked her to close her eyes. As they made their way over the grounds she had noticed the direction that they were taking pointed straight at the Forbidden Forest. Suddenly, she had began to regret not asking about what he wanted to show her. There was nothing about the forest, she was pretty sure, that was not dark and foreboding. The one time she had entered the place had not been so bad. Of course, she was with an older girl and they were on an adventure that was completely illegal. So it helped to feel like a bad girl. Now, she just felt suspicious.
It was cold outside in the night October air. Her jacket was wrapped around her tightly with her arms crossed in front of her chest. She found her self wishing she had gone into her chambers and grabbed a scarf or beret. But no. Curiousity had gotten her excited. Now she was cold, outside heading towards the Forbidden Forest, and unsure of why exactly she had agreed so quickly. It came natural to her to be trusting of everyone. Brittany knew that was not always a good thing, especially with all of the on-goings that had taken place over the past year.
As Nathan led her into the darkness, she found her self hoping that they weren't going in too far. Bravery was one thing, alone in a magical forest where no one else knew she went was another thing. Feeling Nathan stop, she waited for his signal before opening her eyes. After all, it was his surprise. Suddenly, she felt him come up behind her and lay his hands on her shoulders. A chill ran down her spine that had absolutely nothing to do with the cold weather.
Opening her eyes, Brittany looked around at the clearing she was standing in. The trees seemed to edge out like it were making a circle around them and flowers struggled through the cold temperature to stay abloom. Moonlight shined down through the trees, lighting everything around them so that she could see the area nicely. It was a place that she had never thought existed within the forest. A place she surely would have never found on her own.
"I never knew this even existed." Brittany said quietly. Her dark brown eyes continued to sweep across the scene, taking in the different details about the place.

"I was in here looking for Cooper," he explained quietly, staying where he was behind her, "I just happened to find it. I come here sometimes when I just need to think." His hands dropped from her shoulders and rested on her waist. Nathan leaned more over her shoulder and placed a soft kiss on her cheek. Finally, he let her go and stepped around the woman, walking more into the clearing. It was always so unnaturally quiet in this place, but it never bothered him. He liked the quiet and liked being alone and this place had become the perfect place for him to do so. Nathan loved his spot and was glad he'd decided to share this with Brittany.
Turning back, Nathan flashed a grin at the librarian. He sat himself down on one of the logs, motioning for Brittany to join him. "I'm sorry, this isn't as comfortable as your couch," he chuckled with a smile.
