He hated feeling like this, like he was a pre-schooler who needed a nap, but he couldn't help it. Any attempt to move past those feelings could result in something so much worse. He allowed himself to be led to the bench and guided to take a seat. He really thought he was too old to cry, but at the same time, it was a great relief. Thank Merlin that Ari wouldn't hold it against him later.

Once Drew had sat down, Arianna moved to sit next to him. Not on the bench, though, but on the table so Drew could lay his head on her lap if he wanted to. It was now that she wrapped her arms around Drew, wishing she could do more for him. She was back to feeling how she had when he had disappeared that night and wanted to cry herself.

Drew wrapped his arms around her, feeling scared and confused and angry all at once. This had been, what? The second time in an hour that he had broken down into tears? At least he wasn't hexing innocent creatures this time. And at least he knew he could trust the person he was with.

"It's okay," Arianna found herself muttering as she ran her fingers through the boy's hair. She sniffled as her own tears tripped down her cheeks and landing on Drew. Arianna could understand why Drew kept having breakdowns, but why was she? She should be fine now that he was back safe and sound. Shouldn't she? And yet she felt like she needed the hugs and comfort as much as Drew did.

He stayed like that for what felt like ages, his arms wrapped around her as if he were too afraid to let go. The house elves stood around, nervously trying to finish thier work with a few brave ones sneaking up and offering cool towels, warm tea, and in one case, a full ham. Drew didn't even notice them and wouldn't have known what to make of their offerings even if he had.
"... So stupid..." he mumbled, wishing he could just get over it.

Arianna shook her head at everything the elves had sent over. All except the tea, that is. They didn't need towels, of course, but Arianna had asked if they might bring any tissues. Which they did, many times over. There were soon so many boxes of tissues sitting beside the girl, she thought she might be set for every cold she might catch in her lifetime.
"I know it's something you don't want to hear," Arianna spoke as gently as she could as she continued to run her fingers through Drew's hair. "Yeah, you did make a mistake, but there's no way you could have known he would have done this. We all trusted him. Even after he'd been accused. I think any of us would have run down to the greenhouses if he'd offered us help. I know I would have risked it if he told me he could help me get into a healer's program."

Drew nodded against her. It actually did make him feel a little better. It didn't take away all of the guilt he waas feeling, but it did add on nicely to what Seanna had pointed out to him a few days earlier.
"You told me not to go. I should have listened," he murmured. That was a big one that he found hard to forgive in himself.

"You know how well we listen to each other," Arianna teased, lightly mussing up his hair. While part of her still wanted to say 'I told you so,' Arianna had to remember those times she'd made stupid mistakes...even after Drew had warned her not to. It really wasn't a good time to say such things anyway, nor did Arianna want to be the one to say it out loud.

Sometimes he wished she would just tell him she had told him so, but mostly she was glad she didn't. He knew she had and that was probably good enough. He was greatful she didn't go rubbing it in.
He stayed quiet for a bit longer, just holding her and letting his head stop pounding and his heart stop racing. "I'm sorry I freaked again," he said finally.

"It's okay," Arianna insisted, shaking her head slightly. Her fingers moved down to Drew's back and scratched lightly at it. "Today's a free pass. Freak out all you need to. I'll be right here if you need me."
Arianna wished she could offer more. She doubted Drew would be all that excited at the prospect of having another freak out, but it wouldn't be unexpected if this was the last one. Arianna wasn't a shrink, though. Only a friend. Hopefully that was enough for Drew.

"Just today?" Drew asked, wiping his hand across his nose. He had a sinking feeling that he was in for a lot more of these episodes over the next few days... weeks? months? Dang, he hoped they didn't last that long.

"I might be able to extend that pass," Arianna replied thoughtfully. She suddenly imagined one of those parking tickets that some cities used. One had to get it stamped or punched to be verified or something. Arianna wasn't quite sure how it worked, only that they mentioned them in movies. It seemed a bit too cheesy to make one up for Drew, though. He probably didn't need the reminder anyway. "Except for classes, I'm pretty much free all this week."

"I haven't been going..." Drew mumbled. He wasn't sure if he had told Ari that yet, but she was sure to know. He was usually still in bed when everyone left for first classes, sleeping if he had finally gotten lucky and hiding from the day if he hadn't.

Arianna frowned at the revelation, though wasn't too surprised. Maybe a little. This was Drew after all. But Arianna supposed he would have been given at least a few days, if not weeks, from classes had they been going to a public school, so it shouldn't have been expected of Drew to be eager to go to classes in his current state. Arianna just hoped none of the present professors was stupid or mean enough to think Drew deserved detention for missing class.
"If you ever need me during classes..." Arianna shrugged, leaving it at that. She didn't think Drew would send her a message during classes unless it was serious. Even then he would probably try to hold out until afterwards. She still wanted to let him know she'd come if he needed her.

"Yeah, the professors would like that one, me pulling you out of class because I'm having a breakdown..." Drew mumbled, attempting a crooked smile. Truth was, they had lost quite a few professors over the last few months and of the ones left, most of them would probably let her go.
Okay, probably not Bloxam.
