(Continued from "Stupid Dumb..." thread)
Abigail jumped from the hole and into the warm kitchens. Lilian had just run off to the Room of Requirements, leaving the poor little Hufflepuff lost in the dungeons to fend for herself. Yes, her common room was in the dungeons, but do you know how many dark, torch-lit, dank, smelly halls there were in the dungeons? A lot! So Abby had decided to wait it out in the kitchens instead of chancing getting lost, hoping against hope someone else would find her and be able to direct her back to her common room or just out of the dungeons.
Immediately after entering the large room, about twenty little creatures surrounded the girl's legs. Yes, even she was larger than these things. Looking down at them with some surprise and intrigue, mainly apprehension, Abigail backed up against the wall. "Erm...hello," she smiled awkwardly as many of the house elves replied with small, squeaking "Greetings, Miss. How're you, Miss? What can I get for you, Miss?"
"I'm good, thank you," Abby answered them, slowly making her way to a small table in the corner. She could see four large tables resembling the ones in the Great Hall in another room before looking back at the elves still surrounding her feet. "Can I sit here?" she asked them. Many "yeses" answered. Abigail took a seat upon one of the stools while she stared at the elves' huge ears and eyes. She remembered seeing something like them when she was little, but that was just a hazy memory. "May I ask, what exactly are you?" She didn't want to sound rude; however this worry quickly evaporated at the sight of the huge smiles on the elves' faces.

"House elves," Drew answered, stumbling into the kitchen just as the little girl had asked her question. His balance was further compromised as half a dozen of the small creatures rushed him and chattered at his feet. He waved them off impatiently, set on getting his own snack. He found what he wanted in one of the cupboards and made his way back to the tables with a fruit pie and a couple of forks.
"Drew Thornton. Nice to meet you," he said, smiling at the girl and offering her one of the utensils. "Want some?"

The first year returned the introduction with a small smile of her own. "Abigail Bennett," she replied quietly, taking the fork with a nod of thanks. Poking at the fruit pie, she went for an opening in the crust and stabbed at a strawberry. "No whipped cream or yogurt?" she joked; however in an instant both the cream and yogurt sat in bowls on the table. "They're quick..." she mused to herself as the house elves bowed and curtsied.
Thank goodness someone came, Abby thought with relief. She hadn't been looking forward to sleeping among the house elves, though they were very nice and accomodating. Dipping the strawberry in what appeared to be some kind of cool whip (Scottish style?), the Hufflepuff took a small bite of the fruit while she reeled back to the Ravengirl storming out of the dungeons.

"That's what they do," Drew answered. "But not very bright. They forgot the ice cream." He said this last with a knowing grin just as a pair of little hands plopped a tub of vanilla right next to him.

She nodded, obviously a bit impressed. "Seems like you have everything worked out," the first year observed after swallowing a grape. "Been here awhile?" Abby looked up at the boy...er...man? He was taller than her father, though his face still looked a bit boyish.
I hope it wasn't a growing spell gone wrong. Abigail poked at a piece of melon trying at the same time to hide her curiousity.

"I'm a fourth year," Drew answered, dipping his fork into the ice cream and shoveling it into his mouth. He didn't bother fully swallowing as he continued. "Ravenclaw... How about you?" he asked. He figured she was a firstie... second year at the most.

"First," Abby replied. "I just transferred here into Hufflepuff." She took another strawberry on her fork and put it through the yogurt. "I've been trying to catch up on the first classes." She popped the small fruit into her mouth, chewed, and swallowed. "Pretty big place, huh?" The kitchens alone were probably bigger than her house.

"Oh... Another Huffle!" Drew moaned, though it was obvious he was joking. He had come to the conclusion that the Huffle girls weren't even half as bad as the idiotic Badger boys.
"Yeah, pretty big," Drew answered, looking around. The castle was kind of average sized compared to most.

She shrugged. "I haven't seen many Huffles, actually." 'Another Huffle' sounded pretty ironic considering she had only met two people in her house so far. "Are there a lot in our house? They haven't been in the common room, lately. Well, I haven't seen them there at least."

"A lot? Not really," Drew answered. "But the ones we have seem to be plenty. So you haven't met any of them, or they just don't hang out in the common room."
Sheesh... Huffles were bigger slackers than he thought...

"I've met Lianna and Seanna, and I've seen an older boy, though I dunno who he is. I've also seen another girl with reddish hair in the halls with a yellow Huffle robe, but I haven't met her." By 'the ones we have seem to be plenty', Abby assumed her house carried some kind of reputation associated with insanity, craziness, or perhaps loudousity (yes, I made that up) or obnoxiousity (and that, too). Though, Lianna seemed far from any of those choices.

"Well, you met the good people then," Drew answered, thinking Lianna and Seanna were probably the best of the bunch. He didn't know Del that well, (he figured that was the red-head she mentioned) and Krissy was cool, but... out there.
Mike was...
"Take my advice and steer clear of the guy," Drew told her. "He's a putz."

(Funny word xD)
Abby took a bite of some cantaloupe right after Drew said that. Kind of like, 'need a moment? eat a twix'. Only, eat some melon. She wanted to ask what was wrong with him, but at the same time didn't really want a bias against the guy before she'd even met him. Finally, after some thought and swallowing the orange fruit, Abigail cocked an eyebrow.
"Why's he a 'putz'?"

{but so perfect ;D }
"He's just a putz," Drew answered, thinking that was the best way to describe the brown-nosing, kiss-up, wishy-washy, big-headed jerk who tried to hit on every girl in the castle behind his girlfriend's back. Putz was so much more concise.

"Oh..." she nodded knowingly, though still not understanding very much. Thanks for being so specific. Sticking her fork into another piece of melon, Abigail glanced around the kitchen, searching for something else to say. She found herself talking a lot more since her arrival at Hogwarts, but she also found it difficult to continue conversations once started.
