Abigail shook her head. "Do you play?" She already knew the answer to her question, due to Drew's suprise at her comment, but thought it was a good conversation topic.

"Yeah, for about..." Drew figured it out quickly in his head. "Eight years now? I was in Pee-Wee league until I was ten and then I was in Junior League for a year before I came here. Since then, I've been on the house team."

"Wow...I played football (soccer) for about a year when I was seven before figuring out I have no athletic ability whatsoever. What position do you play...er, there are positions, right?" Abigail tried recalling the game she had watched with her uncle when she was really little, though the only things that returned to her memory dealt with the pretzels she enjoyed when not paying attention to the players and actual game.

"Yeah, I played that for a while too," Drew answered, having gotten used to refering to soccer as football a few years ago. "I'm a beater now... have been most of my life, but I've played a little of everything."

Abigail nodded with interest. "That's the one where you hit the balls at the other players, right?" She popped another grape into her mouth, noticing that the pie was close to gone.

"That's the one," Drew answered, finishing off what was left of the pie in one fell swoop. "I mean, we're not actually hitting them at the other players, more like creating a diversion. And, if that means aiming at the opposing team, then... well, whatever it takes, right?"

"Er, I guess so...has anybody ever gotten hurt in a school match, though?" A quick reflection of worry had shot across her face as she put her fork down, fully content and now a bit tired, as well.

"Weel, there was that one year that Slytherin tried to take our whole team down," Drew answered. that had been his first time playing at Hogwarts and a little scary for him. "Their beaters targeted first the keeper and then went after the chasers. Half our team was in the hospital wing by the time the snitch was caught."

Her closing eyes opened with a start. "In the hospital wing?! Were they okay? Did the Slytherins get in trouble?" Her disbelief continued to grow as she learned more about the sport. Who would want to play such a violent game?

"Yeah, everyone was okay," Drew answered. "I don't even remember who ended up winning, but I know I was sure glad when it was over. One of the Slytherins ended up getting expelled afterwards, but it wasn't for what happened at the game. Technically they didn't break any rules."

"Wow..." Abby murmured as she wiped her hands on a napkin and placed them in her lap. Yawning, the Huffle again realized the growing hour and her sleepiness. The firstie didn't want to be rude; however closing eyes and stifled yawns called for her bed. "I think I'm going to go back to the Huffle common room, maybe take a nap before Astronomy." Holding out her hand, she finished with, "It was nice meeting you, Drew, and thanks for the fruit pie."

"No problem," Drew answered, giving her hand a quick shake as he grinned at her. "Are you sure you can find your way out of here okay?" She had seemed a little nervous about being lost before the pie.

"Yeah, I think I'll be okay...but, erm, it's to the right and down the hall and than up a few stairs, right?" She wasn't sure if Drew knew how to get there, but just going over directions in her head gave her a small boost of confidence that she actually knew where she was going. She could always back-track her steps to the kitchen and convince a house elf to lead her back to her room.

"Sounds about right," Drew answered with an encouraging smile. It was like second nature for him to get around the castle and he had to actually think about the directions she was giving. "If you hit the portrait of the wizard with his feet on backwards, you've gone too far."

Abigail nodded and climbed out of the portrait hole. With a last wave, she turned right and set off down the corridor. Torches lit as she made her way past them, and she disappeared behind a corner.
