Knowing that Verina had gotten her message, she smiled and looked to Jynx. "I've been really good. The stars have been beautiful so far tonight..." her words trailed off and she woundered if she should have said that. Taking another sip of butterbeer, she waited for Jynx to reply to her question. Possibly he was goning to comment about their where abouts? Meh... at least i'm not talking to a complete stranger... She then looked back up to the sky, the clouds had drifted across the moon again.

"Great so far," Jynx said his smile growing as he thought back on the past couple of hours he had spent with Matty. The stars had been really bright and beautiful when he and Matty had been up in the Astronomy tower, but Matty had already commented on it so he didn't bother. "And I plan on making it last through the night." he added still having a great time and couldn't really see an end to it. Well at least not until they were forced to retire for the night.

Dean looked around, just glancing at the people that he knew, a slight smile on his face before he turned back to Keag. It took him a few seconds to put two and two together, but when he finally did, he said, " Right, sorry. Stupid idea... How about in... that dierection? " He asked, indicating over near one of the corner's of the Great Hall, where not many people wre located, only a few of the younger students wafting in and out of the area.
He couldn't believe that he hadn't thought about how Keag was dressed when suggesting they go outside. Dean did have to admit it to himself, the look combined with her biting her lip was cute. He grinned at the thought.

Keag smiled a small smile as Dean saw her look and caught on quickly. "Not stupid. Just not well that out, that's all." Her eyes followed his gesture to the corner and she nodded in agreeance. "Sounds good. Do you mind if we sit down over there, though? Between you and me, these shoes are killing my feet." She grinned brightly, becoming more at ease with the boy again; that was definitely a good sign. The Gryffindor absolutely despised feeling awkward, especially in situations like this.
It was then that she squeezed his hand back. She also noticed his spontaneous grin. Reflexively, Keagan raised a hand toward her face, but dropped it again before it touched. "What?" she inquired, a questioning and slightly confused look on her features.

Verina grinned fixing her bow that had slipped, "Yup. I hope the evening remains great for the both of you," she said with a warm smile. She didn't know Jynx that well yet but she had talked to Matty a few times and both of them had been really nice to her. She'd appreciated that since it'd been hard for her so far to really get to know anybody, "Still can't get over how everything looks. I've never been to one of these before," she said with a smile, "how long have you two been here?"

"I know the decorations are always worth coming to have a look at," Jynx said with a smile looking around at all of the decor. One of his favorite holidays was Halloween, it had been ever since he was a little boy.
Returning his gaze back to the Gryffindor, "How long have we been here at the ball? Well we came earlier when it was just getting started then went and did something else for a while and now here we are. Just been back a couple of minutes, well since we saw you actually." Jynx said smiling and thinking that it was nice to talk to one of Matty's friends since he really hadn't meet that many of them.

" Yah, I s'pose so... " Dean said, trailing off as he started off for their destination. He grinned as Keag mentioned her shoes killing her. He nodded once and said, " I don't know how you lot can put up with those shoes. " He was, of course, jokingly but tried to act serious. Dean glanced over at Keagan as she asked him what he had been grinning at. He merely shrugged and said, " You. " ( hope you don't mind a little gm ) By this time the two had made their way over to a deserted table. Dean pulled out a chair for Keag. He felt a little odd trying to be all... gentlemanly.

"We only do it because you lot are so much taller than us," Keagan replied, just as seriously. It was the truth, after all. For her, anyway. Keagan caught Dean's glance when she asked her question, but after his answer she turned forward and continued walking toward the table. She was, of course, blushing, and though his answer wasn't very detailed, somehow it was satisfactory.
The blush had calmed a bit by the time the got over to the table, and Keag smiled a bit awkwardly up at Dean as she sat down in the chair he'd pulled out for her. It just seemed a bit strange to be so formal.

" Hm, that is true. " Dean said with a chuckle as he noted the height difference between them. It didn't really matter to him too much. He hummed under his breath as he took a seat besdie Keag and thought of how to start their inevitably somewhat awkward conversation. " Here comes the talking... " He muttered to himself with a smile as he looked back to Keag, a hint of the blush still remained. Dean went on, " Uh, I know that day at the lake, you said you weren't ready, right? And... I said I wasn't either? " He didn't really give Keag much answer time, only paused for a second before continuing on. " I kinda of want to know if you're ready... for this. Us. " He said plainly, trying to be straightforward about it. Dean figured that would be the easiest way to go about things.

Keagan drew in a sharp breath as Dean jumped right into talking about what she knew would eventually come up. She nodded in response to his questions, noting that she wouldn't have been able to fit a verbal answer into the time slots he allowed. Dean was trying to be straightforward. Too bad Keag was never one who could be completely straightforward. She'd come to a straight answer eventually...she hoped. 'Well, I...I got a letter from Dan," she started glancing down to her hands, her fingers fidgeting. "He apologized for the way he left and everything." Apparently, this was not going to be a very easy conversation.

" Oh. " Dean said, a little suprised. That wasn't really the answer he had been expecting but...it wasn't like he could change it. He felt her fingers lightly fidget in his hand. Dean glanced down to their laced finger, not saying anything for the moment. When he looked back up to Keag he asked her softly, " What now? " Her answer was vague, but he wasn't sure she wanted to get more detailed in her explaination. More than anything, he just wanted her to be ready.... He realized it would probably take more than his wanting to make it happen.

Keagan looked up to Dean, her eyes lacking the pain they had held when she had talked of Dan in the past. She was certain from the look in Dean's that he was wondering where she was going with this. "I didn't expect the letter," she continued. "It was strange...getting it made me feel more distant from him. Disconnected..." Keagan's voice trailed off. Again, she had neglected to answer his question. Problem was, now that she had started this, she needed to finish what she was trying to say. "Able to move on, even." Perhaps now she'd begun to answer his question.

Dragos let out a heavy sigh as he feet started to move when the rest of him didn't want to. He was being dragged, and his feet went willingly. Try as his brain might, he couldn't make them stop. He just watched Vanessa as she started dancing and made him dance too. Dragos kind of stood there, trying to fight off the grin that was pulling at his lips and not give in to her dancing ways. "Never. I will be a ninny if I chose to be!" Dragos protested, laughing as his arms continued to move as if independent from his body. Technically, they were, as it wasn't him operating them. It was all Nessa. After a while, Dragos let himself get sucked in, despite the inner protest his mind was making. He started to move, without the help of Vanessa, and dance to the music. He wasn't a bad dancer, but he just didn't like doing it in front of people. And there was no shortage of people in the Great Hall. Dragos looked around quickly, looking at all the people he knew would be in his classes and he'd have to see every day after this. Embarrassment tonight would not be a good thing if he wanted to be able to walk down the corridors. A sly grin spread across Dragos' face as he got an idea. He'd tried break-dancing before, but the only thing that had occurred was actually breaking something. His pride. It hadn't worked too well, but he'd practiced and gotten better. Now he figured it was time to bust a move. Stepping back a little and grinned. "Watch," he said to Vanessa. Taking a deep breath, Dragos lurched forwards and his hands hit the ground. He propped himself up on them and twisted his legs around, holding himself in the air. Then, he tucked his legs in and fell backwards onto his back, spinning around on it and collecting dust all over his jacket. When he stopped spinning, he stood up, laughing. Did he really just do that? "Figure I'd cause a scene. Liven this thing up a bit," he told Nessa, taking her hands and starting to dance with her again. Maybe after that, some other people would start to dance. What could it hurt, right? ((Yet again, sorry for the late post)) Vanessa watched in awe as Dragos danced around, spinning around on the floor and causing a big scene. Nessa covered over her eyes with her hands so she didn't have to watch him make a fool of himself, but she couldn't help laughing at his courage. Not every guy would willing look like a moron. As he took her hands again, Nessa leaned in to whisper into his ear. "I don't wanna be with the crowd tonight," she said, "I just wanna be alone with you." Without waiting for an answer, Nessa led Dragos off the dance floor and out the doors, passing everyone and not stopping. She led him out the doors of the Great Hall and into the Entrance Hall, finally going outside.

Krissy's unease setteled slightly as Pat reassured her that it could work between Ari and Dan and that they just needed to sort it out a little bit. She smiled again having had Pat reassure her. only slightly, but still, it was a smile. She didn't want Ari upset or sad or to have a bad night so Krissy really hoped things went well between her and Dan. But all thoughts of Ari and Dan were swept out of her mind as Pat told her to close her eyes and that he had something for her. She hadn't expected anything, not did she expect many people to remember her birthday, she never did, with the halloween ball on on the same night everyones minds were always on that. But that was fine with Krissy. An excitedness flashed in her eyes as a huge smile formed accross her face. She couldn't help but laugh slightly with Pats comment of no peeking. she put her hands over her eyes jokingly the fingers spread wide and her eyes still open. "Like this?" she asked him playfully. It was very obvious she could still see. ((Really need to get my posting speed back up to scratch. Sorry much. ![:-[](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png) )) Pat laughed a little at Krissy's response to his request; it was obvious she could still see. However, Pat honsetly didn't care at this point; he was finding it difficult to keep himself from giving Krissy her gift any longer ((not to mention Pat's writer is starting to get worried they'll lock this thread before the gift is given ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) )). "Yep, just like that," he said, smiling wide; now seemed like the right time to give her her birthday present. Stepping closer to Krissy, Pat drew her present out from his pocket, carefully fastening it around her neck. Now dangling around her neck was a fine chain of silver, which was threaded through a silver ring with an opal set into it. If one cared to take closer look at Pat, then one would notice he too wore a silver necklace with an opal-set ring on it, exactly the same as Krissy's. ((Flashback alert ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) )) Pat had carried the two necklaces with him ever since the summer vacation, the memory of which he remembered clearly. He had gone to Scotland and Ireland with Krissy, but had had to seperate from her for a few days to see his relatives. Among these relatives, mostly cousins, aunts, and uncles, was his grandmother, Anne Destro. She had called him aside one evening, and then proceeded to give him the twin necklaces. "I know you've found that special girl, Patrick, so I thought I would give these to you. They've been passed down through your grandfather's side of the family for generations. So long as you're wearing one necklace and she's wearing the other, the two of you shall always be close to one another's hearts. I know your grandfather would be glad these have been passed on to you."Pat wasn't sure how his grandma, or indeed, other members of his family, had guessed so on-target that he'd found "a special someone". However, he was grateful for his grandma, and these necklaces she had passed on to him; they certainly made a pretty damn good gift. "Happy birthday, love," Pat said softly, kissing Krissy. He hoped she liked the gift as well as he'd liked her's to him, he really did.

So that meant she didn't like him anymore... right? Dean wasn't too sure what it meant, but he took it from something good. When she continued on and said how she might be able to move on, Dean smiled slightly and asked, " Really? " In a half joking and half not voice. He wanted to know she was okay, that they were okay.
" Are you? " Dean asked for confirmation. If she was then... that would be great. In his mind, it was very simple. She would be ready, and then he would ask her out. Or something to that effect. He wasn't too sure on the details, really.
